WILOW-Ch.417: Giving Her Some Hints
Water Gardens
POV of Domeric Bolton
At the moment, the Civil War in Westeros was nearing its end.
The only place where the war was still raging was King's Landing. And the chances of Hermione arriving there were slim, considering the size of Westeros.
Therefore, Domeric thought that meeting with Luna would no longer be a problem for Hermione.
But Domeric wasn't entirely sure she was Luna until he arrived and saw Tyene Sand.
After all, no matter how convincing the information he received, there was always a margin of error.
However, the moment he saw her, or rather, the moment he saw her dreamy eyes, he knew she was Luna.
But Luna didn't seem interested in talking to him. She probably suspected his identity because of the changes he'd made in his lands, but since she didn't know who he was, she didn't want to put herself at risk.
According to Luna, Domeric could have been any other stranger who had come into this world, just like herself.
Therefore, Domeric needed to give her clues about his identity, and Sarella had given him exactly that opportunity with her next question.
"Lord Bolton, I've heard you have many owls in the North. Do you have any white owls? I've always wanted one, but there aren't any white ones here."
"We have a lot of white owls in the North. I can get you one," Domeric said.
"Really?" Sarella asked excitedly.
"Of course. I even have a white owl myself. Her name is Hedwig," he said, and as he expected, Tyene's head suddenly turned towards him.
"Lord Bolton, is your owl's name Hedwig?" Tyene asked after a moment of looking at him.
"Yes. She is one of my dear friends." Domeric said. He knew he had now caught Tyene's real attention, not just her interest.
Tyene watched him with her dreamy eyes for a while without moving. It was as if she was not trying to see him, but his soul.
Domeric was quite familiar with Luna's Luna style gaze, but the others must have found her behavior strange, because Obara Sand asked, "Sis, are you alright? You are staring."
"Yes..." Tyene said. "I was just wondering how Lord Bolton came up with the idea for the newspaper. I think it's quite an interesting idea. Would you share it with us, Lord Bolton?"
Then, without waiting for his answer, she lowered her head again and continued focusing on her plate, as if she wasn't very interested in what answer he might give.
"Sure, why not. But it can't be said that the newspaper is entirely my idea. An old friend of mine was very knowledgeable about these things. You could say I'm just using an idea I saw from others," he said.
"Oh? I haven't heard that before." Tyene said without raising her head.
"Many people don't know this. But my friend's family used to publish a newspaper called The Quibbler," he said, and Tyene froze.
Domeric then added, "Back then, many people called me the-boy-who-lived. Even though I didn't like that moniker."
He could now see that the fork and knife Tyene held were trembling, but her head still bowed.
He thought it was enough to leave it here for now. Tyene or Luna must have figured out who he was by now. Their next conversation would be when she came to speak with him.
And Domeric knew for sure that Tyene would come to speak with him. Most likely tonight.
"The-boy-who-lived? Why do people call you that, Lord Bolton?" Sarella asked, giving Domeric another perfect opportunity to change the subject.
"Haha... It's actually a funny story. When I was a little boy learning to ride a horse, I fell off and hit my head on a rock. Many people thought I was dead, but I managed to wake up. That's why some people call me that."
After that, he continued chatting with those at the table and answering their questions for a while longer.
The dinner ended with Prince Doran telling him that Oberyn Martell was on his way to Dorne before Domeric even came here and would arrive in a week.
That came as a surprise to him, as he had neither expected Oberyn Martell to arrive here so quickly nor stay in Dorne for so long.
In fact, he had only intended to stay in Dorne for two to three days, but since the Prince of Dorne personally requested this from him, he couldn't really deny this request and decided to stay here for a while.
Furthermore, to get a clear answer from Prince Doran, he would most likely have to wait for Doran to speak with Oberyn Martell first.
Besides, he had not been to a beach ever since he came to this world. And he did like the various cuisines of Dorne, so he didn't mind staying here for a while.
The only problem was the continuous seduction from Arianne Martell, and the Sand Snakes were bound to leave him blue balled, so he probably needed to return to Ygritte as often as possible, even if only to sate his lust.
At least he would be able to spend more time with Luna while he stayed here.
Frankly, he wasn't entirely sure how Luna would react after he explained everything to her.
Domeric wanted Luna to come to Dreadfort. After all, as a witch, she could help him with many things.
She could assist him with many magical projects, manage numerous operations while he was away from Dreadfort, and help him govern his lands.
Luna's help and insights were invaluable to him, not only as a witch but also as someone from the modern world.
And having a friend by his side would be good for him.
But Luna could choose to stay in Dorne instead of coming with him. And in that case, Domeric had no intention of forcing her.
If Luna was happy with her life here, Domeric had no right to take it away from her.
But at least Luna would now know who he was, and therefore, perhaps he could communicate with her remotely to exchange ideas if she decided to stay in Dorne.
However, the fact that Lady Death was playing with Luna and Hermione's souls worried him.
Lady Death had said that this could have unexpected consequences and apologized for it. But at least she had stated that it wasn't anything bad.
Frankly, Domeric had a more or less clear idea of what it was, and he hoped he was wrong. Otherwise, things were going to get really complicated...
And then he would have to spank Lady Death's arse the next time he saw her.
