Chapter 5 - Mission 1(Part 3)

Caleb pressed himself against the cold steel wall, listening intently. The facility's interior was a maze of corridors, each one patrolled by armed guards. The mission had been smooth so far, but he knew better than to expect that to last.

Aria motioned ahead. "Two guards at the next junction. We need to take them out quietly."

Logan nodded, already slipping a suppressed pistol from his holster. Caleb held up a hand. "No gunfire unless absolutely necessary. We do this the silent way."

They crept forward. Caleb reached the first guard just as Aria went for the second. He wrapped an arm around the man's throat, cutting off his air supply while pulling him backward into the shadows. Aria drove her blade into the other's side, lowering him to the floor without a sound.

Logan exhaled. "Nice and clean. Let's keep moving."

They advanced deeper into the facility, tension thick in the air. The blue glow of security monitors flickered from a nearby room. Caleb peered inside—an operations center. A single technician sat at a console, unaware of their presence.

"We need to get in there," Caleb whispered. "That console could give us access to security feeds."

Aria grinned. "I got this."

She slipped inside like a shadow, her knife flashing once before the technician slumped forward, unconscious. Logan moved in next, fingers flying over the keyboard as he accessed the system.

"We've got trouble," he muttered. "There's an alarm trigger set for this sector. If we open any unauthorized doors, we're compromised."

Caleb frowned. "Can you disable it?"

"Not without setting off a failsafe. We need to find the control hub. Should be deeper inside."

A noise echoed down the hall. Heavy footsteps—multiple guards on patrol. Caleb gestured to the others. "We move now. Stay quiet."

They melted into the shadows, slipping through the corridors. Every step took them closer to their objective… and deeper into enemy territory.

The corridor opened into a larger chamber, dimly lit by overhead lights. Stacks of crates provided ample cover, but also obscured sight lines. Caleb motioned for the team to stop, scanning for movement. A moment later, he spotted a security drone hovering near the ceiling, its camera sweeping across the room.

"Logan?" Caleb whispered.

Logan pulled out a small device, tapping a few keys. "Jamming it now... Alright, we've got a sixty-second window before it resets. Move."

They weaved through the crates, stepping carefully to avoid detection. At the far end of the chamber, a reinforced door stood between them and their next objective. Aria checked the panel. "This one's on lockdown. We'll need to force it."

"No way to bypass the system?" Caleb asked.

Logan shook his head. "Not without triggering a facility-wide alert. Our best bet is to find a power junction and shut it down manually."

A sudden voice crackled over the facility intercom. "Unauthorized activity detected in Sector Three. All units, sweep and secure."

Caleb clenched his jaw. "We're running out of time. Aria, find the junction. Logan, stay on the security feeds and guide us through."

The team split, each moving with purpose. The mission was hanging by a thread—and the real fight was only just beginning.
