Meili flinched at the sound of his voice and snatched her hand away from the thread like she had touched fire and his icy stare gave shivers down her spine and she refused to look him in the eye and he frowned even more.
The ride continued quietly and somewhat eerie, she could not hear his breathing nor a single movement from him since he told her to stop and she was wandering what could be the reason, she was scared to even look at him and what if he was staring at her….. the thought of that made her feel creepy.
Her strange colored eyes moved to look at him anyway and she froze, panic taking over her when she saw his state. He was looking so pale with his thin lips losing its color and his eyes were closed, he had a creased brow and he was kind of dry and she didn't know what to do. Her thread loosed its brightness and she felt him whimper yet there was no tear and finally poked his knee.
He didn't move still and she tried again and no response, the carriage had started speeding up as if sensing what was going on in their space. Tried to move from her place forward to Achelous and was shocked by the way her body moved on its own, she held his left hand and squeezed it softly. " A- are you..okay?" She asked still trying to shake him a bit, he was burning up much more that she couldn't continue holding his hand.
His lips moved slightly yet she couldn't hear a thing, Meili had the urge to touch his face and probably stroke his unbelievably long hair with her shaky hand.
But he caught her wrist and she froze in place, his eyes had turned gray and pulled her onto his lap, his right arm circling her waist and he hugged her, his face hiding in her neck and nose sniffing in her scent as if he would die if he didn't and the girl sat on him beet red.
Meili was still sleeping in his arms when the carriage came to a stop. " Sire—
The guard stopped at just a look before he turned to look away, Achelous got down from the carriage still holding her safely in his arms, he took in a deep breath when he felt the ocean's coldness around his feet and he turned to look behind. " I will leave the princess in your stead until I return, Kamsy !" He ordered and the lady in blue bowed her head before following the king, he didn't want anyone to touch her so he managed to take her to her room. He staggered when he tried to walk away, he couldn't be here, he didn't want to steal her energy, he had done enough and now she was unconscious.
" Sire! Are you okay ?" Kamsy rushed to him and helped him to stable, his breath turned labored. " you are not to leave her" he said softly before he pushed the female guard away and frowned, she bowed her head deeply again before she hurriedly left his side.
Achelous used the other side of the hallway, he didn't want anyone to see him in that condition, he was trying to suppress his urge to be with his wife, the urge to listen to the mating bond was killing him. It was a punishment for refusing to allow what had been arranged by the almighty, he kept cursing them all in his messed up head.
He knew this was not just it, the bigger one was going to come and he had to be far away from civilians in and around his castle, it had affected Oceanus that was why he had to leave the humans palace. He knew Meili was not happy how things had gone but her homeland will be safe as long as he's not there and was able to reach his pool chamber.
Achelous found it difficult to see and his legs were threatening to give away as he dragged himself taking support from the walls.
" Your Grace! Here… please let me help you " sir Lenor pleaded as he held Achelous's arm, he allowed the man take him to the pool chamber and he help him into the cold pool that had vapor coming out like it was being boiled yet it would freeze anything that came into contact with, the whole chamber was covered in fog and lightnings.
Meili finally woke up and felt a sharp pain in her head, like she had been knocked out. " How are you feeling my lady? I brought you breakfast " she heard a voice and cornered herself again, Kamsy had a beautiful smile on her face and she approached her. " My name is Kamsy and I am your personal help until the king returns " she announced simply before bringing the tray forward. " you need to eat to replenish your energy " she said again and Meili stared at her.
" w- what happened, what is this place and king….what king, is my father here?"
Kamsy stared at her like she was a lost kitten in a den full of wild male cats and she felt pity for the girl. " My lady you slept for a while and the king brought you inside the castle of Aegaeon….and your father is not here" Kamsy clearly said yet the princess looked confused and she bowed her head, the princess was going to figure this out right!
Meili realized it was not dark anymore and the sky was blue, much more than the usual with fog descending, she saw the compound that was covered with snow….. snow! She exclaimed and rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand. It was snowing even when it was not winter and she wondered how come, she wandered around the room which was now hers to stay in. Her bed was bigger than the one she used in their palace and was situated in the middle of the huge room, there were four full length glass windows in the corners, each leading outside the big balcony with a mesmerizing view.
The room was painted blue and white designs could be seen, the whole wall looked like a blue sea and now she knew what the designs were, ' aquatic creatures' she could make mention a few she knew of and the rest she stared at them in wonder. There was a designer table on the left side with a full size mirror on it, she could see makeup accessories arranged neatly on the table and she smiled, her eyes twinkling like stars as she continued her unreal tour in just one room.
She hopped as she continued, her mood switching suddenly, her eyes landing and the three white couches on the other side of the room and behind it was a tall bookcase with shelves full of books, parchment papers a moon ball on the corner and a quill in its ink. There was a mirror table in the middle with fresh fruits in it basket on it, her hands took hold of an apple before taking it to her nose and it smelled natural and magical at the same time so she gladly took a bite of it, her smile brightened even more before she turned to the open space on the opposite side of the sitting area and her jaws dropped.
Meili looked like she had been frozen when she saw how the space was packed up with dresses on hangers and in wardrobe, shelves of bags and hats even the shoes rack was filled with different kinds of shoes and heels in colors it was already lit up and she covered her opened mouth with her hands.
