James stormed into the VIP lounge, his face dark with annoyance, the weight of his frustration from the recent encounter hanging heavily on him. Without a word, he threw himself into the soft chair, his body slamming against the cushions with exaggerated force, as though the chair itself could absorb his irritation.
Euan, startled by the loud impact, looked up from his phone, his brows furrowing in surprise. "What happened to you?" he asked, his voice laced with concern. "I thought you were just getting coffee?"
James let out a sharp breath, the sound tinged with frustration. He avoided Euan's gaze, staring straight ahead as if the answer might be found in the distant corners of the room. "Yeah, I did," he muttered, his tone clipped, his teeth gritted.
Euan leaned forward, sensing something was off. His curiosity was piqued, but his concern deepened. "Then why do you look like you just got into a fight?"
Andrew, who had been quietly watching the exchange, arched an eyebrow in silent inquiry. His voice was calm but laced with concern as he leaned slightly forward, his eyes narrowing just a fraction as he studied James's rigid posture. "What's going on, James?"
Still seething, James couldn't hold back. The words burst from him like a release valve on a pressure cooker. "Tobi's here... with that arrogant man!" His irritation flared visibly, his fingers curling into fists on the armrests. But as soon as the name left his lips, his eyes widened in horror. He quickly glanced at Andrew, realizing too late that he had crossed a line. His face flushed, panic flickering across his features, and he blinked rapidly, giving Andrew a brief but apologetic look.
Andrew's jaw tightened imperceptibly, his eyes hardening for a fleeting moment before he masked the emotion, regaining his composure. His gaze met James's, an unspoken understanding passing between them. The silent apology lingered in the air, heavy and loaded, but Andrew simply nodded, offering a small, controlled smile that suggested forgiveness without words.
Euan, completely oblivious to the tension that had momentarily crackled between the two, tilted his head in confusion. "Whose Tobi?" he asked, curiosity sparking in his eyes as he glanced between James and Andrew, his gaze flicking back and forth like a tennis match.
James shifted uncomfortably in his seat, suddenly feeling exposed. He cleared his throat awkwardly, running a hand through his hair as if it might untangle the knots of discomfort. He shrugged casually, but his attempt at nonchalance fell flat. "Oh, no one... just an old acquaintance," he mumbled, his voice lacking conviction, his eyes darting away from Euan, unable to meet his gaze.
Andrew, sensing the awkwardness, quickly stepped in with a steady voice, though there was a playful edge to it. "Don't worry about it, Euan," he said, cutting off any further questions before they could form. He shot James a subtle warning glance, one eyebrow raised in amusement and silent reproach. Then, with a gentle smile, he added, "James is just being dramatic, as usual."
Euan, still curious but picking up on the shift in tone, chuckled softly, settling back into his seat with a knowing smile. "You two always have your little secrets," he teased, shaking his head with an affectionate smirk. "It's like I'm in the middle of a soap opera sometimes."
James huffed, rolling his eyes at Euan's teasing, though a reluctant smile tugged at the corner of his lips. Despite the tension, there was something endearing about their easy banter, and it helped to loosen the knot of discomfort in his chest. "Yeah, yeah," he muttered, leaning back in his chair, his posture relaxing just a little. "If you say so, Euan."
Andrew leaned back, his eyes glinting with amusement as he shot James a sidelong glance. "I'm telling you, Euan, it's like living with a walking drama series," he said with a smirk, the mood lightening, the tension fading as they settled into the familiar rhythm of their friendship.

Tobi and Kyle sat quietly in the VIP lounge, an air of casual indifference between them. Kyle was engrossed in a phone call with Youn-Jae, his voice low and steady, while Tobi absently scrolled through her phone, her mind drifting as they waited for their delayed flight. Neither of them noticed Andrew and James sitting across the corner room, and only half their backs were visible from their angle.
Just then, a bark echoed through the lounge, sharp and sudden, jolting Tobi from her thoughts. Startled, she nearly dropped her phone, her hand shooting out to steady it. She quickly glanced around to locate the source, her eyes landing on the large dog at James's feet—Fruitcake.
A devilish grin spread across her face, and her eyes gleamed with mischief. "Well, well. This just got interesting," she whispered to herself, standing from her chair with a fluid, confident motion.
Without a second thought, she turned to Kyle, who was still mid-conversation with Youn-Jae, sounding increasingly serious. "Hey, Kyle," she called out, her voice light and playful.
Kyle, clearly irritated by the interruption, waved her off without even looking. "I'm talking to Youn, Tobi. Not now."
Ignoring his annoyance, Tobi leaned closer, her grin widening, her voice laced with teasing mischief. "Look over there. Your future lover is sitting right across from us."
Kyle pulled the phone slightly away from his ear, his eyes narrowing in annoyance as he shot her a glare. "Tobi, shut up. I told you I'm talking to Youn." His voice dropped low, filled with warning, making it clear he wasn't amused by her antics.
Rolling her eyes dramatically, Tobi waved her hand dismissively. "Whatever, Mr. Serious. I'll go over there myself. You can continue your little bromance with Youn." Her smirk deepened as she muttered under her breath, walking toward James and Andrew. "I wonder who's the top and bottom if you two ever hook up…"
Kyle shook his head in exasperation, muttering something inaudible as he refocused on his call. Meanwhile, Tobi strode confidently across the lounge, her eyes locked on James like a predator tracking its prey, her teasing energy building with every step.
James immediately noticed Tobi approaching, his hand absently brushing through Fruitcake's fur in a soothing rhythm. But the sight of her made his pulse quicken, a flutter of unease stirring within him.
"Tobi," he called out, his voice uneven, the hint of nervousness betraying his usual composure.
Andrew glanced up, his eyes widening in surprise, which caused Euan to startle in his seat beside him. Tobi slid into the vacant chair next to James, her smile lighting up the dimly lit lounge.
"Hi, Andrew!" Tobi waved enthusiastically, her smile as bright as sunlight. "You look so much better now after the incident."
"Oh, yeah. Thanks for visiting me. James said you stopped by when I was in the ICU," Andrew replied, his voice warm but tinged with a subtle caution. He shifted slightly, unsure of what to expect from her.
"No worries!" Tobi beamed, but her attention suddenly snapped to Euan, her gaze sharpening. "And this is…?" she asked, a playful glint in her eyes.
"Euan," Andrew interjected quickly, his tone firm but affectionate. He straightened slightly, a protective pride seeping into his words. "He's my partner."
"Nice to meet you, Euan!" Tobi extended her hand with genuine warmth. "You're such a pretty boy." Her compliment was like a burst of sunlight, making Euan flush under the unexpected attention, his shyness evident in the way his eyes flickered downward.
"Hello," Euan managed to say, his voice small, casting a glance at Andrew for reassurance. Andrew nodded encouragingly, giving him a gentle smile.
"Oh, by the way, Andrew," Tobi continued, her voice adopting a conspiratorial lilt, "I told Youn-Jae he should visit you. I'm so sorry that you have such a rude uncle—"
But before Tobi could finish, Euan suddenly let out a small, discomforted moan. His body stiffened, and his face twisted in confusion. A sharp, piercing whistle sliced through the air, jarring his senses and making everything feel painfully vivid. The atmosphere seemed to constrict around him, the air thick and oppressive.
His eyes widened, his breath hitching as the world around him seemed to distort. The name "Youn-Jae" echoed in his mind like a distant memory, faint yet oddly familiar—something he couldn't quite place, but it gnawed at him, pulling at his very core.
A dull ache bloomed behind his temples, slow at first but growing in intensity, sharp and insistent. He winced, pressing his fingers to his forehead in an attempt to stave off the overwhelming pressure. It was as though a deep-seated memory was trying to break through the walls of his mind, but he couldn't grasp it.
Euan blinked rapidly, trying to clear the fog clouding his mind. What was that? What's with that name? But it felt profound—like something buried deep within him, waiting to be uncovered. His pulse quickened, each beat reverberating in his chest, while his thoughts spiraled, desperately trying to make sense of the flood of sensations.
Andrew saw Euan's sudden distress. Panic gripped him, and he instinctively leaned closer to Euan, a hand hovering near his shoulder, his touch gentle yet filled with urgency. "Euan," Andrew murmured, his voice low but thick with concern. "Are you okay?"
Euan's breath grew shallow, his chest rising and falling in rapid succession. His hands trembled as he pressed them to his temples, his gaze flickering between Andrew and Tobi, searching for something solid, something that could ground him in the chaos swirling within.
The pain in his head pulsed again, more forcefully this time, a persistent throb that felt like it was tearing at the very fabric of his consciousness. "Why does that name feel so familiar?" Euan murmured, his voice strained as the questions flooded his mind.
Andrew's stomach churned, his own panic rising as Euan's distress became more palpable. "Euan, please… just focus on me. Drink this," he said, his voice steady despite the fear creeping into his chest. He reached for the bottle of water, his hands trembling slightly as he unscrewed the cap.
Euan took the bottle, his fingers brushing Andrew's as he brought it to his lips, his grip unsteady. He drank slowly, the cool liquid soothing his throat offering little relief from the storm in his mind.
The name "Youn-Jae" echoed once more in the depths of his consciousness, an unrelenting pull that left him aching for understanding. Something important was buried there, but he couldn't reach it, couldn't make sense of it.
"What's happening?" Andrew asked, his voice strained as he leaned closer, his eyes never leaving Euan's. "Please, Euan, talk to me."
Euan swallowed hard, his throat dry, and set the bottle down with shaking hands. He leaned forward, clenching his fists on his knees as he tried to steady himself. "I don't know… I can't shake this feeling," he confessed, his voice trembling with uncertainty as he met Andrew's gaze, his eyes searching for answers.
Tobi faltered. Her smile faded as she watched Euan's erratic breathing. Concern flickered across her face, and she froze for a moment, her brow furrowing as she saw the panic in Euan's eyes. "What just happened?" she thought, her instincts telling her that something was wrong, but she couldn't make sense of it.
"Is he... okay?" Tobi asked hesitantly, her voice quieter now, unsure whether to intrude further. She took a cautious step forward, but before she could get any closer, James quickly stood, positioning himself between Tobi and Euan.
"Tobi, please," James said, his tone low and urgent. His hand lightly touched her arm, a subtle request for her to back away. "We need to settle him down. It's better if you return to your seat. We don't want to cause a scene."
Tobi blinked, startled by James's serious tone. She glanced at Euan, who was still struggling, his hands gripping the edge of his seat as though he might fall off it. The confusion in her eyes softened into concern. She bit her lip, then nodded slowly. Whatever was happening, it wasn't the time for more questions.
"Alright... I'll go," she murmured, casting one last worried glance at Euan before turning to head back to her seat.
Just as she reached the aisle, the boarding announcement crackled through the speakers, the voice of the airport staff echoing through the lounge, calling passengers to board.
