Or, more disturbingly, cases of hunting down Awakeners who refused to join.
Some had even hidden in remote mountain forests for decades but were eventually tracked down.
Their logic was straightforward.
Since you are unwilling to join us and are living outside the mainstream, you must have intentions to harm mortals and must be killed to prevent future trouble. If you hide in the wilderness, then you must be plotting something sinister in the shadows.
