Wrapped in the quiet comfort of their bed after making love, Loona turned to Asher, looking him dead in the eye.
"Are you ever going to tell me who you actually are?" she asked quietly.
Asher didn't flinch or look startled. He had been expecting this conversation.
"I'm serious, Asher," she pushed, shifting her weight to look down at him. "I've laid out every ugly piece of my life for you. You know my family drama. You got Josh thrown in a cell for me. You literally handed my dad your entire life savings yesterday just so he could attempt a fresh start, and then you went and hired him a therapist for his gambling habit." She paused, her eyes narrowing slightly. "It's a little one-sided, don't you think? And don't even get me started on those terrifying... things that saved us, and were bowing to you and calling you 'Master' like we're trapped in some trashy dark fantasy."
A slow, wry smile formed at the corner of Asher's mouth. "Well, you pretty much nailed it."
