A flash lit up the slope.
Suddenly, a pillar of fire burst through the snow with a deafening roar, sending clouds of steam, ice fragments and a cloud of white dust into the air. For a moment, the blizzard seemed to part, revealing a scarlet-orange glow far ahead.
Ned blinked, and the corner of his lips twitched slightly.
"Now I know for sure," he said.
Lucinda let out a sigh of relief, though her face remained tense.
"Is this Hailey's doing?" she asked.
"Who else would climb out of the snow with such force, as if a volcano were erupting?" Ned replied with a touch of irony.
"GRAAA!"
The deafening roar of an enraged dragon, or rather, a Lava Dragon, rang out.
Lucinda's gaze became serious. She looked around at everyone and said:
"We need to hurry."
Irene and the others exchanged glances.
"Don't forget where we are and that it's not just us here," Lucinda reminded.
Everyone immediately became more serious, realizing that Lucinda was right.
