Violet turned around, and couldn't control her fierce glare at Sebastian. It somewhat frightened him a bit but didn't give him enough time to appease her as she instantly dragged him to the entrance of the hospital.
As though being trained before, Violet fell into an act effortlessly.
"Help, help! He's injured! He's bleeding help!" She screamed with tears in her eyes which naturally fell into place. She wondered to herself if those were tears of anger or tears of fear.
Sebastian noticed she was still crying as the nurses rushed him to the emergency ward. That's when he realised, despite him being fine with all these acts, there was someone who genuinely cared about him even if the pain or injury didn't affect him at all. It only made him feel guiltier than he already was for hurting her again.
It took Violet awhile to regain her composure and settle the registration. She demanded for him to be checked thoroughly and warded for a night. She gave her statement to the nurse and policemen that he was ambushed earlier by the reporters and accidentally injured himself from the cut.
She knew her statement to the authorities was spreading like fire among them because eventually a whole bunch of reporters went to the hospital hoping to do coverage. She was glad many passersby realised it was Sebastian too earlier.
Soon the news was all over.
Sebastian Lu was rushed to the emergency ward!
She began to receive messages and calls from his agency for updates. She calmly told them the same story she gave to the nurse and police earlier. She added that he couldn't make it to the company's meeting the next day.
Despite this, to her surprise, she was demanded to go on his behalf. She thought she managed to save the situation but the demand made her nervous. Thinking back at how much sacrifices he had to go through, she knew her predicaments were nothing.
At least, she was sure they couldn't force her to sign anything since it wasn't her contract with the company nor was she working with them. With that temporary comfort, she went into the VIP ward to check on him though she was still upset with him.
"Hey…" He called out from his bed as she sat by the sofa trying to ignore him.
He got down from his bed to walk over when she opened up a report she was about to send to his agency on her work tablet. He noticed the odd report and stopped her.
"What's this?" He pestered her as she sighed, knowing her intentional action was going as planned. It was meant for him to know that the agency had been keeping close tabs on their schedule.
"Just work…" She mumbled before trying to vet through her report but he stopped her again.
"Vi…" He stared at her sternly, waiting for her to explain the situation.
She sighed and met with his worried gaze. For a moment, she let his captivating eyes melt away all her worries and upsetness. Only when he reached out to touch her right cheek did she pull herself out of her daydreaming.
"It's not as serious as you think…" She finally answered him while clicking on the send button.
"They made you keep a timesheet on me and you?" He questioned sternly as he pulled her closer to face him.
Once again her eyes softened at the sight of his eyes. "The nurses and doctors could still walk in…" She warned him nonchalantly but her unsteady breath betrayed her.
"Answer me…" He whispered with persistence knowing she was shaken.
To not get enticed any further, she forced herself to close her eyes and nod.
He got pissed off as he cursed to himself before walking to the main door to lock it. When he returned to her to find she was folding his jacket which was left on the sofa earlier as a distraction, he pulled her to a much hidden corner.
She didn't fight. She was prepared to let him do whatever he wanted. Cause she knew he couldn't follow her tomorrow anywhere. Cause she knew, she could make an excuse to leave for home to head to the agency without him knowing. It was only right for him to vent all he wanted tonight. However, the sight of him gently taking off his right arm's wrapper hanging around his neck, which was uncomfortable, made her worry for a second.
"Hey… That's to help you not injure it while you sleep." She stopped him but he gently held her right hand in his.
"It's fine… We will put it back later." He replied while comfortably adjusting them to sit on the sofa, ensuring he was enveloping her in his good arm.
Feeling his breath on her skin made her less angry but she wondered if it was really her anger subsided or partly because it was past midnight and she was exhausted.
"Sleep…" He urged noticing her drooping eyelids. He tried to cover her with a blanket left on the table by the nurse earlier, upon request only for her to tuck herself in.
"I haven't forgiven you…" She said flatly, though she obediently let him put her to lie on his lap.
"So I'm Sebby now?" He teased, but she kept quiet, thinking about the entire day's events.
"Was it a good closure with her?" She finally asked to appease her curiosity, meeting his irresistible gaze from above, ignoring his question.
A smile unexpectedly appeared from his lips as he gently combed her hair and sighed.
"I want to be that Phor Tat you met again, Vi... Lately, you have made me realise what I missed all along about myself. What she had accepted of me was for the fame I had today. But…" He paused as his eyes reddened.
Violet reached out to his right cheek as he leaned into it.
"I didn't know I had to pay the price of such fame, Vi. I thought once I'm married, focusing on acting would keep me away from lesser tabloids, but I just didn't expect myself to…" He sighed as Violet held his hand in hers.
"I was rash in that decision… I was stupid to think I could tie her down after marriage. Did marriage really change anything? It's just a status. It's just the same. Nothing changed… Instead, we hurt each other more and now… You." He gently caressed her right cheek as she leaned in with sleepy eyes.
"It takes two to make a change... If one keeps diving deeper in love while the other stays shallow, it's not going to work." She reminded him as he smiled sadly at a fact he knew by heart all along.
"My status as Sebastian clearly isn't suitable to date you now. Back then as Phor Tat I really had a good time with you. I want to bring him back but I need time, Vi. I don't want to hurt you like you already did in the past. You deserve better…" He said as her sleepy teary gaze met with his.
"You're good enough…" She tried to convince him as he smiled sadly, caressing her right cheek.
"I want to be that better person you made me realise myself but I need to search for myself again… All the forgotten favourites from food to clothes to drinks or even habits…" He explained with desperation, hoping Violet would understand his circumstances.
"After all we've been through, did you think I would be so shallow minded?" She teased in the midst of her growing sleepiness again knowing he wasn't giving up on them as they both smiled with a tacit understanding this time.
Violet's tolerance gave him more determination to finalise her divorce with Janice.
"How did you two still stay as friends? And he is even looking after your father. It's such a contradiction… Sometimes I forgot you were a divorcee…" His determination made him ask her about Dexter.
"Cause some people are better when they don't feel tied down. That's exactly why Dexter has been my best friend since I was young. We gave in to the family pressure, and he changed. We only learn of this depth of love after the divorce, but it was too late. He knew I no longer loved him like I did..." She explained with drowsy eyes as he started to pat her arm to coax her to sleep.
"He still loves you, Vi." He said with a hint of jealousy. She smirked with her eyes closed.
"So? Loving someone you know has different ways. That's just his. My way is to let go. There are a lot more things in life than love, Sebby. For instance, finding yourself again." Violet reminded him.
He drew in a deep breath quietly trying to not disturb Violet who was about to fall asleep.
"Sebby, promise me you won't escape…" She said while hugging his waist with her eyes closed as he held her closer to him.
"You knew your favourite food, but avoided it because of calories. You knew your strength and interests in acting, but you remained in the same genre due to the stupid regulations. You now need to give way to your freedom just because of her? Think again... What difference does it make anymore? Playing along with her till your contract ends, and do what you want? Or put a stop once and for all? Focus on completing all filming, Sebby... The choice is yours…" She reminded him while closing her eyes before slowly drifting to sleep.
Sebastian smiled, kissing her forehead as he sat pondering. He knew Violet was right. He didn't want to lie to himself any further. He didn't want to harm her but he wasn't ready to let go of acting, even if it was in his new firm.
Besides, he was happy Violet loved him for who he is; Phor Tat. He knew he needed plenty of time to unwind from being Sebastian once his contract with the agency ended. He began to wonder about his plans the whole night while accompanying her asleep.
