Karlos walked into the dark room where a man sat waiting for him. The man's face was hidden in shadows.
"You called for me, Sir?" the man asked.
"I was drugged tonight," Karlos said coldly. "Find out who did it. I want their name by morning."
"Yes, Sir. I will start immediately."
Karlos clenched his fists. Someone had tried to harm him, and that meant they were also trying to hurt Berlin. He wouldn't let that happen.
Back in her room, Berlin couldn't sleep. She kept thinking about the beautiful place Karlos had shown her and how kind he had been tonight. Her heart felt confused.
"Stop it, Berlin," she whispered to herself. "He loves Tasha, not you. Remember what happened in your past life."
But her heart didn't want to listen. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw his face.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
Berlin jumped up. Who was knocking this late at night?
She opened the door slowly and saw Mrs. Lydia standing there with a big smile on her face.
"Mom? Is everything okay?" Berlin asked.
"Everything is perfect, my dear!" Mrs. Lydia hugged her. "I saw you and Karlos coming back together. You both looked so happy!"
Berlin blushed. "Mom, it's not what you think..."
"Don't worry, dear. I know my son. He doesn't show kindness to just anyone." Mrs. Lydia winked at her. "Get some rest. Tomorrow will be a big day!"
After Mrs. Lydia left, Berlin lay in bed wondering what she meant by "big day."
Meanwhile, Karlos was in his room, unable to sleep. The drug was still making his body feel hot and strange. He took another cold shower, but it didn't help much.
He kept thinking about Berlin. The way she smiled. The way she looked at the fireflies. The way she kissed his cheek.
"What is wrong with me?" he asked himself.
His phone buzzed. It was a message from his investigator:
"Sir, I found something. The drug was in your food at dinner. I'm checking the kitchen staff now."
Karlos's eyes became dark and angry. Someone in this resort had tried to hurt him. But who?
