Primrose could walk on her own, but when Edmund carried her back to the bedroom, she did not even think about stopping him.
After everything she had seen from their past, all she wanted was to stay close to him. She wanted to feel his warmth, hear his breathing, and remind herself that he was here with her now.
That they were both alive.
"Do you want to clean yourself first?" Edmund asked as he gently placed Primrose on the bed, letting her sit on the edge. "You'll be able to rest more comfortably afterward. How about I call Marielle for you?"
Primrose did not answer him. Instead, she reached out and wrapped her arms around Edmund's waist, pressing her face against his stomach.
"Can we have some time alone?" she whispered. "I just want to be with you for a while. That's all."
He stayed like that for a few seconds before lowering himself to his knees in front of her. His hand moved to her face, his fingers brushing softly over her cheek.
