A city razed to the ground
It is the best way to describe the destruction and carnage left among the broken and burnt buildings. A city that was full of joy, pride, banners, and laughter fell under ash and smoke. The bells that were used for festivals and celebrations now ring desolately as corpses of the fallen littered the city.
War had consumed everything from within the city and the surrounding area. Skirmishes between small groups continued. Screams and wails were heard among the crackling wood and stone.
Noble houses that defended the city fell one by one their banners desecrated and littered on the streets with some aflame and some ripped to shreds. The center of it all at the last barricade is a noble of a fallen household with his last attempts to gather morale
"We have to give those who evacuated time! Keep shooting and take them down! fight with your bare hands if you have to." The noble shouted loudly as he fired his pistol upon a soldier trying to climb the barricade before pulling out his sword and slashing another two soldiers as a volley of bullets were fired upon the enemy advance killing a few and temporarily holding them back.
They could only give 20 minutes at best at holding them back before the barrier was breached, the rebels tore through remaining guards their bodies falling to the ground's cold embrace with the noble now captured.
"March on towards the castle, take no prisoner. This one however, will be my good prisoner. Won't you Astrix?" The noble looked up at disgust before spitting towards them.
"Prisoner? I'd rather die than be your prisoner. You filthy traitor." The person knelt down and placed her hand on his neck before gripping tightly
"Now, Now Astrix. That's no way to treat a princess." Astrix let out a groan as he felt her tightly grip his neck
"A princess, does not destroy her country for banishing her for crimes she committed." The princess glared at him as fingers pressed down against his throat before whispering
"Then you should have kept quiet about everything." It was the last thing he heard before his vision faded and he fell to the ground.
