I'll admit, that level for the gym battles had surprised me, was it so tough as to worry me to be our first lost? Not at all. Haunter had soloed two of the Pokemon and Koraidon could have definitely done the same if we went all out.
Honestly, I shouldn't have let Lapras fight against a grass gym leader of all things, but he deserved his own fair shot at this gym like everyone else on the team did.
He did surprisingly well against a grass gym leader, and he's only done so few battles, so it only makes sense, we will just have to start battling lots of trainers for more experience then!
For now though, I was walking down Route 8, I had gone through Saffron City to restock on resources, but my goal was the town beyond it down the route.
Lavender Town. A small town covered in a beautiful hue of purple. A solemn, quiet town. People come to visit the Pokemon Tower, to pay respects to their departed Pokemon.
I have plans regarding the over abundance of ghost type energy. Because there was so many ghost type pokemon there, especially the tower, I want Haunter to suck it up to enhance himself as much as he can, my goal is to evolve him soon. So I want him to be the best him possible.
"and then you should be able to push this you to your maximum limit as a Haunter." I finished explaining to Haunter who was cackling excitedly.
"Yes! Let's make haste, I want to see all the other ghost!" Haunter cheerfully said as he started levitating faster as I was forced to jog to keep up with him.
While we, I, were jogging, I had chosen to instead ride Koraidon as I looked up information on the tower, in the games and manga it's shown as a serious thing, a graveyard. In the anime it wasn't ever confirmed to be such a place, but rather somewhere ghost haunted and where Ash got his Haunter to battle Sabrina.
My research revealed it's a graveyard at the moment, as in the later series it became a radio tower and a different place was chosen to house the graves, though I don't remember much information on it all.
I also wanted to evolve Haunter soon, and there's only so few people I'd trust to actually do the trade and willingly trade back Haunter. Bill, Sam and-
"Bzzt! Incoming call, ID: Brock." Well talk about convenient timing, the only other person I'd trust is calling.
"Accept the call." I said as I whistled and everyone slowed down a bit.
"Raven! How are you?" Brock asked like a big brother, though we were basically the same, roughly. I supposed once a big brother of a gaggle of children, always a big brother.
"Brock! I'm doing fine, I just beat Erika in Celadon for my sixth gym badge. How are you doing on your travels with two brats?" I asked grinning as the man groaned, albeit with fondness.
"Things are, let's call it interesting, yeah interesting, with these two. They're always arguing and leading me into weird situations, but I can't say it isn't fun." Brock said as he explained a few of the things that's happened on his journey.
"Oh wow, sure sounds like you've had some fun." I laughed amused.
"Yeah, currently we're in Lavender Town, Ash wanted to catch a ghost type pokemon to battle against Sabrina because he lost against her." Brock explained and I smiled as I saw the tower in the distance.
"Interesting, I'm actually just arriving at said town, probably half an hours away. I'm looking to have Haunter absorb some of the residual ghost energy lingering about." I explained as Brock nodded his head.
"I see, that is a good idea, are you planning on evolving him soon?" Brock asked as I grinned.
"Exactly, I want him to reach the maximum potential he can as a Haunter before he evolves, if you're able to, I'd like to do a trade evolution while we're both in Lavender Town, if not then Saffron City." I replied as Brock nodded his head.
"Of course, I'll see you soon Raven, I'm on cooking duty, like always." Brock said as I chucked and then the call was dropped. Dick!
"Koraidon full speed ahead, I have a rock head to smack!" I ordered.
"Hold on then!" She grinned before we were blasting off at max speed, at least on foot, she could fly much faster.
•~~~~•
I grinned as I walked into town, seeing the gloomy look of people I calmed down and kept a more calm look on my face, now to the tower, it would have the best concentration of ghostly energy.
Haunter floated besides me, for once restraining his cackling. Sylveon was walking next to me, one of her ribbons around hand.
"Pokemon Tower, let's see what you got." I said aloud as I walked through the front entrance, and almost immediately I could feel the oppressive, no, perhaps intense, energy.
"There's so much energy!" Haunter cackled as he started softly glowing a dark purple. His size even increased by a little, I'd almost call him fat.
"Explore and suck up as much energy as you can safely handle Haunter." I ordered as Haunter sped off grinning. Sylveon and I meanwhile slowly made our way up the tower, occasionally I would stop and pay my respects to those pokemon who lost their lives to early, like an attack or poisoning.

"Hey you there, here to pay respects to those wrongfully taken?" A voice asked suddenly and I turned my head to see… fucking Blue of all people!
"More or less, I came by to let my Haunter absorb the residual ghostly energy. I'm also paying my respects as I go through each floor." I responded as I knelt down and offered a small prayer to a Raichu that died defending his trainer from Team Rocket.
"That's nice of you, most would just walk right by without a care in the world in your situation." Blue said in response as he joined in on the prayer.
"Indeed." I said in response as I stood up and offered my hand. "Raven Inanis, trainer. This is Sylveon." I introduced myself.
"Oh? I've heard about this one, a new form of eevee recently discovered in Kalos a few years ago." Blue noted curious. "Oh yes, where are my manners? Gramps would smack me silly for not using them. Blue Oak." He offered his hand and I shook it.
"A pleasure." I said with a hint of dry amusement. "As for Sylveon, her evolution isn't that hard to achieve, but rather most people don't bother going about it right. Sylveon's just simply need one thing, a fairy move known as a Eevee." I explained as I reached down and rubbed her head.
"I see, I will have to see how that goes." Blue mused before shaking his head. "My goodness, it has gotten late. I'm supposed to be going to sleep soon, I have a friend to try and convince that a frozen mountain isn't a proper home." Blue sighed at the last part before he patted me on the shoulder and left, but not without a quip.
"Next time we meet, let us have a battle Raven."
I felt a familiar grin work its way onto my face as I waved at Blue. After a moment I made my way up another set of stairs. It sas a quiet slow walk up the remaining floors.

"Then I saw this weird person as a spirit!" Haunter cackled as he was telling me about his little trip in the tower and I smiled, but something about that felt familiar. Something to do with Ash? Oh! This is where Ash got crushed under a chandelier and Haunter dragged his spirit out his body. A curious episode since it implied that ghost pokemon were capable of taking out a person spirit, or at least an unconscious person who can't really resist at the moment.
"Ah! I know what your talking about now. A curious thing that, for now though, I can tell you're just brimming with ghost and dark energy." I noted as Haunter was practically glowing with black and purple energy wisp.
"I feel so powerful! Like I could fight the last whole gym battle on my own and not be worse for wear!" Haunter cackled gleefully at his analogy.
"That's good to hear, I can't wait to see your aura as a Gengar then." We both cackled at the thought. The image of his mischievous Gengar form already in both our heads.
"We have to get a sword then!" Haunter grinned and I froze before a wild smile formed on my face at that thought.
"Yes! First though, we need to acquire a good sword." I remarked as I shoved the last of my restocked supplies into my bag, unfortunately Brock had been rushed along with Ash back to Saffron City to battle Sabrina, which honestly I'm glad for because it means I won't be dealing with a psycho Sabrina, hopefully.
Never can be so sure, after all, just because this world seems like a mix of anime/manga, doesn't mean everything is going to be the same, like with Zapdos' egg. Speaking of said egg that had once held Zap, I can feel that bond between us, it's slightly weak, but it's there.
So with that in mind for a future question with Giratina or Arceus, we set out. Under the night sky we began our walk, or float in Haunter's case, towsrds Saffron.
•~~~~~•
The walk had been nice, we ran into a few wild pokemon, but Haunter took quick care of them. However despite everything going on, and the few legends I met, most certainly I didn't expect to be staring at the representation of the motherfucking moon!
Lunala.
"Travler from another world, bearer of plates, you shall be judged." Lunala, or so I assume, spoke aloud as the light in everything around us started being sucked away by the legendary pokemon.
"Master!" I heard Haunter's call before everything went dark.
•~~~~~•
Opening my eyes I felt weird, like I wasn't quite there.
"That is correct." A female spoke and I turned around to see a dark skinned woman with horns and glowing purple eyes beside me.
"Travler who bears the mark of creation, he who holds love for his pokemon. The story of the dragon you know, but the story of your little sprite, you know almost nothing, so I shall judge you. Watch." She spoke again and then vanished like she wasn't there.
So watch I did.
I watched a child be born, instinctively I knew it was my little ghost guardian. This was the life of Haunter.

"You will not hurt him!" I snarled out as I saw the legendary do something before master fainted. Even if it cost me everything, I would protect him! He's all I have left…
[Shadow Ball] [Dark Ball] [Shadow Pillars] [Sludge Wave] [Shadow Punch]
Everything I was throwing had no effect, it wasn't working, I couldn't protect him, I'm a failure-
"Ah!" I jumped as I felt something inside of myself, a pulse showed me it was coming from- MASTER!
"Child of mine, born of the dead. Despite everything, the futility of protecting him against mine overwhelming power, you still do it." Lunala spoke as she glided down and I only raised another [Dark Ball] at them. Everything I had would go into it. Every last drop of power.
"Yes! He is all I have left, he is my light! I won't let you steal that from me!" I yelled as I let go of the [Dark Ball] and watched as it collided with them, and when the dust cleared, despite all my power put into it, all that I managed was a scratch and a single drop of blood.
"Most impressive, however I doth wonder, if your master would still see you in such a good light when he sees your past, what you were." She said aloud as she glided down right in front me, and all I could do was feel utter helplessness.
"He won't care!" I finally said after a moment.
"Thou speak with such conviction, will your convictions hold strong in the face of reality this one wonders." She spoke and I froze before I felt something from the bond between me and master.
Reassurance, care and love.
"Reality can go fuck itself!" I yelled before an overwhelming amount of pressure suddenly pushed down on the area as suddenly the shadow beneath master enlarged and Lord Giratina flew out it.
"Lunala, you have gone to far, this is no test that is needed." The lord of distortion spoke and I felt a bit safer as I floated down to master and watched helplessly.
I couldn't do a thing, again.
"Incorrect Lord of Anti-Matter, our Lord said we may give any test as we see fit so long as the questers life isn't in danger of being taken." Lunala said simply before she moved her stare to look at me.

Raven PoV
Well now, this was a curious life. Haunter wasn't a trainer, he lived a normal life as a thief. He would steal and play pranks on people as he stole their stuff.
None had been safe from his greedy hands, seems like nothings changed. It was kinda funny if I was honest. Despite everything, he did follow a code. He stole from those who wouldn't struggle in life because of it, or if they were just the worst kind of people, resorting to drugs to experience a good high to relieve his short childhood times.
Shitty parents do that to you after all.
However he robbed the wrong person, some rich young kid who lived alone, not even a fancy butler, just some maids. However my dear ghost had fucked up, he was caught, his face seen.
Not even an hour after arriving at home, several masked men in suits had broken in and kidnapped him. He was experimented on by several scientists at the behest of the young kid.
However one night things changed. By the grace of Giratina, the power had flickered, and in that moment Haunter had sprung into action. With a sharp piece of metal laying around, it almost looked like a sword weirdly enough, with little deceptive jewels on it, he killed all the scientists, however before he could escape, he was shot in the head by the kid, who was now a teenager.
I'll never forget his name or look, if I see him, I'm thanking him, then ripping his body and soul into pieces so small even Kronos would be jealous.
Inside me I focused on my connection with the plates, the raw energy of the Draco Plate and mixed it with the Zap Plate. The world exploded in a burst of blue lightning. Then it fell apart like glass shattering.

"So the human child finished the-" Lunala spoke before freezing in place as the sky darkended before it started thunder. The two legendaries could feel the familiar power of Arceus, but then realized it came from the human who was slowly sitting up.
"Now that wasn't nice." Raven spoke as he raised his hand up and suddenly a storm of thunderbolts rained down onto Lunala.

I'll be honest, I'm a little hesitant to go into the power's territory beyond the basics of aura for this story, I do have a plan for the plates that Raven has, but I don't want to go all mary sue where everything is not a challenge because he has said plates, if that makes sense. I much prefer the normal type of drama where you can just pull a Lance and shoot a hyper beam at everything, portable mini-nukes.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the chapter and felt annoyance at the cliffhanger.
Toodles!
