"Alright, I'm back, you don't need to keep my wife company."
Nicholas Croft handed his coat to Aunt Wang and walked over to the sofa. Panda Eyes let out a reluctant whine, jumped off the sofa, and went to play on his own.
"Uncle, why are you back so early today?" Sophie Foster pushed herself up from the sofa as Nicholas also sat down, wrapping his long arm habitually around her waist.
"There wasn't much to do, so I came back early. Did you have much nausea today?"
Nicholas' gaze fell on Sophie's face, bare of any makeup, and he raised his hand to gently smooth the stray hair beside her ear, his eyes soft and gentle.
"Just once." Sophie lowered her head, her small hand resting on her already rounded belly, gently stroking it.
Nicholas' large hand also lowered, and with a tender smile said, "Let me have a word with our daughter."
