Atlas Lancaster was more astute than his wife Eva Hayes. The last time they had an argument, the old man's attitude was clear; if she picked another fight, they might actually get kicked out.
It's not that he couldn't support the family; nearly ten people in the family, old and young, and the cost of food for a year would amount to quite a bit. Since he can save, why should he pay out of his own pocket?
Eva gave Atlas a defiant glare and sulkily continued with her meal.
The cook emerged from the back kitchen with egg custard, placed inside an enamel basin wrapped in several towels. When she pushed the door open, she saw Joseph Lancaster skulking at the door and asked curiously.
"Second Young Master, what are you doing hiding outside? It's breakfast time."
"Hehe, I know." Joseph laughed awkwardly and scratched his head.
Daxton Lancaster continued eating breakfast with his head down, showing little reaction.
