Mabel Quinn was pulled into the elevator by Kyle Kinston, "What's wrong with you?" she asked, trying hard to withdraw her hand, but the revolution had not yet succeeded.
"I'm jealous, can't you tell?" he retorted.
She almost choked on her own saliva. He was jealous? And he said it so openly? In the end, she stupidly asked, "What are you jealous of?"
"Do you really not know?" he asked her back, lowering his head. Those deep eyes seemed to want to see right through her.
She involuntarily pursed her lips, recalling the scene at the discussion meeting. "Are you jealous of... Atlas Shaw?" After thinking it over, that seemed the most likely.
Atlas... Such an intimate way to address him, yet it sounded grating to his ears.
"When he was reciting the lines, the way you looked at him was really envy-inducing," he murmured softly, his face drawing even closer to hers, his warm breath brushing her face, causing her cheeks to flush slightly.
