Alice Turner acted as if she hadn't heard Anthony at all, quietly turning her head to look out the window. Her eyes were fixed outside, but her gaze was completely unfocused.
"Alice! You okay?"
Anthony had noticed something was off with Alice Turner a while ago. He'd never seen her like this before, so he couldn't help feeling a bit worried.
Hearing Anthony speak again, Alice slowly pulled her gaze back from the window and looked at him sitting across from her. She gave him a reassuring smile. "I'm fine, don't worry about me. Just eat."
As she spoke, she pushed the plate of shrimp dumplings a little closer to him.
"Alice, you look way better when you smile. When you're all gloomy, you look really ugly." Seeing her smile at him, Anthony didn't think her mood had actually improved. He knew she was forcing herself to smile for his sake, so to lighten her mood, he instantly slipped into his usual roguish act.
"Looking for a beating, huh?"
