Benjamin Shaw looked at Alice Turner sitting across from him, feeling particularly uneasy. She had asked to meet him today only to sever their ties.
She didn't want to have any more entanglements with him, and if possible, she might not even want to acknowledge that he was her ex-husband, right?
She was doing this for only one person, and that was her current fiancé, who was also his good friend.
"Since you want to speak openly, I can only comply with your wishes." Benjamin took a deep breath, and then he spoke again, "Alice! I've fallen in love with you."
These words had been bottled up in Benjamin's heart for a long time. Saying them out loud today made him feel a lot lighter, yet he also felt a tense anticipation within.
He looked at the woman across from him, feeling especially apprehensive, unsure of how she would respond.
Although Alice had vaguely sensed Benjamin's feelings for her in recent days, hearing him confess his love still caught her by surprise and shock.
