That night, Alexander Shaw and Isla Lane talked for a long time in their room about Benjamin Shaw, but the conversation didn't go well.
Isla Lane was still stubbornly convinced that Alice Turner should be with Benjamin Shaw, and she hadn't taken in a word Alexander said.
Seeing how obstinate and obsessive she was, he slammed the door in a fury and went to sleep in the study, deciding he'd had enough of her making him angry.
After Charlotte Shaw dropped Benjamin Shaw off at home, she left. As she left, she swore to herself that she would never follow her mom's lead and mess around like this again.
Thinking back on everything she'd done these past few days, she even felt disgusted with herself.
After dinner, Benjamin Shaw went upstairs to his room and never came out again; he had no idea what was happening downstairs between his parents.
