Chapter 46 - Discovering the truth

While Mohammed was training to enter the academy, the Gustav family was searching for him. A few days earlier, on the night Mohammed dealt with Cron, Cron and his two friends returned to the Gustav family home, renowned for magic and considered one of the strongest families in the kingdom, having produced many powerful sorcerers.

When Cron returned home, the servants saw him covered in blood and were shocked because he was severely injured. Everyone hurried to fetch the doctor. Cron went to his room, furious at Mohammed and thinking about how he would take revenge.

Cron's mother came rushing in and saw her son's mangled face. She cried and hugged him, saying: "Whoever did this to my son, I will kill him!" Cron wept and said: "Someone hit me while I was unaware, and I was defending our family's honor from that commoner who dared to stain our family's reputation."

His mother replied: "My brave son, do not worry, your mother will take revenge for you." She called for Cron's older brother. After a moment, the older brother arrived, and their mother said: "I want you to find the person who hit my son, and I want you to deal with him."

Cron's older brother asked: "Tell me his name." Cron replied: "His name is Mohammed, and he has a girl and a young boy named Fern with him." The older brother said: "Ah, it seems I already understand. I will handle this matter."

He approached Cron and said: "You were not following the girl and taking revenge on Mohammed, right?" Cron replied: "No, how could I do such a disgusting thing, brother Marcus?"

The older brother said: "Alright, I will investigate this matter." Then he left Cron's room. Cron laughed: "I will take severe revenge on you, Mohammed. Just wait, and I will show you your true place."

After a while, it was time for dinner. The entire Gustav family gathered. The father looked at Cron and asked: "Who did this to you?" Cron replied: "It is a person named Mohammed. He attacked me from behind while I was defending our family's honor."

The father asked: "Is this person the same age as you? Why would someone dare to tarnish our family name with no benefit?" Cron replied: "He is the same age, and I do not know why he did it."

The father said: "So, a person your age did all this to you. What a disgrace he brought upon us. It seems your mother spoiled you a lot, Marcus. Investigate everything but do nothing yet. When we discover the truth, we will decide what to do. But if I find out that you, Cron, are the cause, I will kill you because I am tired of covering for your actions."

His mother said: "Why do you speak to the boy like that? He is still young." The father projected his commanding aura. Everyone felt the pressure. "When I speak, do not respond to me. I am the head of the family. Do you hear me?"

Everyone then had dinner, and Marcus left quietly to search for the truth. He went to the area of the incident and started asking people what had happened. Everyone gave the same answer: "Cron is a vile, disrespectful person. He dared to exploit a lone girl and wanted to harm her. Not only that, he struck her younger brother until he fainted, insulted everyone, and mocked us while boasting about his family name. The girl was crying heavily, heartbroken. After a while, her lover appeared, saved her, and took revenge on that vile man."

Marcus felt ashamed of his brother's actions and embarrassed, not even knowing how to tell their father, because his younger brother had done unforgivable things and brought disgrace to their family, making their noble house a shameful one.

Marcus returned home. When he entered, a servant told him that his father was calling him. He replied: "Alright, I am coming."

Marcus went to his father and said: "Hello, Father." The father asked: "Did you find anything?" Marcus replied: "I didn't find anything, but judging by Cron's words and actions, I do not think he is innocent. I need to investigate further."

The father said: "Very well, investigate thoroughly. And you are not hiding anything from me, right?" Marcus replied: "No, how could I hide anything from you?"

Marcus went to Cron's room, where his mother was tending to him. He entered and ordered the servants out.

His mother asked: "Why did you send the servants out?" Marcus replied: "I just want to talk to Cron about something."

After the servants left, Marcus approached Cron and said: "Little brother, you are wronged, aren't you?" As he approached, Cron was about to reply: "Yes."

Marcus struck him hard across the face. Cron screamed: "Why are you doing this? What did I do to deserve this?"

His mother stopped Marcus and said: "Why are you hitting your brother?" Marcus replied: "Do you really not know what really happened?"

His mother said: "I don't know. How could I not know?"

Marcus said: "Your son tried to kidnap a young girl in the middle of the capital, in front of everyone. Not only that, he struck her younger brother until he fainted, then insulted everyone and told them they were commoners. He completely defiled our family honor. All this happened because you always protected him and ignored his misdeeds."

"Did Cron really do this?" she asked.

Marcus replied: "If you want, I can take you to the scene and you will hear what people are saying about us."

Cron said: "Do not believe him, Mother. He is only jealous of me because his mother was a servant, and he cannot face it and refuses to believe me."

Marcus became furious, drew his sword, and was ready to kill Cron. His mother defended Cron: "Please, calm down, calm down."

Marcus said to Cron: "If I hear my mother's name come from your mouth, I will be the one to kill you, not Mohammed, you spoiled coward. And if Father learns of your actions, he will have you executed immediately."
