"The world had changed after sealing me," Jaenor said.
"Yes." Cornelia looked at him with sharp eyes.
"What the hell have they been doing, those damn witches!"
"What have you been doing since the time you got out of the tomb?"
"Tomb? That's what they named it?"
She chuckled and replied, "Yeah."
"I've been observing and learning. The world built on the foundation of my imprisonment."
He returned her gaze.
"The origin energy imbalance. The men losing their aura. All of it connected to what the Council did."
Cornelia's expression shifted into something more serious.
"More connected than you might realize. But that's a longer conversation for somewhere more comfortable."
She looked out the window at the early morning city approaching as they cleared the forest preserve.
"Where are you staying? I assume not the vampire den."
"Silverwood Heights."
Her eyebrows rose fractionally.
"Comfortable. With whom?"
"People who matter to me."
