"Less than five minutes."
Chu Miao looked toward the second exit. "Remain here. Someone will come for you."
She contacted Zhou Qiang and briefly explained what had happened before entering the western tunnel.
Luo Cheng had a considerable lead, but the narrow passage made his location easy to follow. He moved quickly, using his metal ability to tear through old doors and sealed gates.
Chu Miao didn't hurry.
She folded the distance between them.
Luo Cheng had nearly reached the outer end of the tunnel when the air in front of him rippled.
Chu Miao stepped out of the distorted space and blocked his path.
He stopped so suddenly that the metal suitcase in his hand struck his leg.
Unlike the well-dressed man Chu Miao expected, Luo Cheng wore a guard's uniform beneath a long gray coat. His hair had been cut short, and dirt covered his face to make him appear like an ordinary survivor.
The disguise might have worked at the southern gate.
Unfortunately, he had never reached it.
