Lin Qiye is really tired.
Both mentally and physically.
He truly hadn't expected that something like this would happen on his very first day at the school: encountering a monster, being betrayed by classmates, a thrilling battle, inexplicably opening his eyes, and then a Superman-like uncle suddenly appearing and sneaking away...
Lin Qiye wasn't stupid.
He knew that his experience tonight definitely involved the hidden side of this world: the monster that ate human faces, the golden light emanating from his body, and the man who single-handedly defeated the monster.
That man was no ordinary person, and judging from his report via walkie-talkie, there must be a huge organization behind him, which may be hidden in the world and specifically designed to deal with such strange events.
He saw the light emanating from himself, and perhaps even saw himself single-handedly defeating monsters, so he wanted to recruit him...
It would be a lie to say he wasn't curious about the hidden side. He wanted to know what Dao had encountered tonight, and what had happened to Dao in his life, but he didn't want to get involved in Vortex because of his curiosity.
Some secrets, once known, can never be escaped.
He didn't want to be some kind of hero protecting humanity; what he wanted to protect was...
I only have this one home.
He soon drifted off to sleep....
The familiar mist has returned.
In his dream, Lin Qiye looked around and sighed helplessly, "Still won't let me go? I fight monsters when I'm awake, and now they come knocking on my door when I'm asleep. My life is so miserable..."
Lin Qiye took a few steps with practiced ease, and soon the outline of a Mental Hospital appeared before his eyes.
On the ancient plaque to the right, a line of large characters is engraved.
— Asylum of the Gods.
Lin Qiye walked to the front door and stopped. He reached behind him and grabbed the ring in front of the door. The moment his fingertips touched the ring, the ground shook slightly!
The surrounding Mist suddenly began to tumble.
Lin Qiye held the ring, looking completely bewildered.
What the heck? I haven't even knocked yet, why is it starting to vibrate?
It wasn't like this before.
Suddenly, an idea flashed through his mind like lightning. Is it because... he opened his eyes today?
Lin Qiye lowered his head, looking at the body in his dream, and his eyes gradually brightened.
In the past, Lin Qiye's body in his dreams was translucent, as fragile as a floating mist.
Today, however, his body was noticeably more solid. Although it still lacked a physical form, it was no longer transparent.
He suddenly raised his head and looked at the door that had blocked his way for five years, his gaze becoming increasingly fervent.
Today...maybe it will work!
He took a deep breath, gripped the ring tightly in his hand, and slammed it against the door!
CLANG—!
The ancient bells rang out from inside the Mental Hospital, several times louder than before. Fortunately, Lin Qiye was not physically present, otherwise his eardrums would have been throbbing with pain.
The moment the bell rang, the entire Mental Hospital trembled violently once again!
There's hope! Lin Qiye's eyes lit up.
CLANG—!
CLANG—!!
CLANG—!!!
Lin Qiye didn't stop, and knocked three more times in a row, causing Mental Hospital to shake as if an earthquake had struck! Finally, after the last knock, a loud bang echoed through the Mental Hospital, and then everything fell silent again...
Just as Lin Qiye was about to knock again, the door in front of his creaked and slowly began to move.
The door opened.
"Buzz—thump!"
Once the gate was fully open, an ancient and dimly lit corridor appeared before Lin Qiye.
The corridor floor, made of some unknown material, emitted a faint fluorescence, and burning orbs of light hung on the surrounding walls. Mysteries was eerie.
Lin Qiye walked along the corridor and soon came to a fork in the road, with modern-looking road signs hanging above it.
"The left side is the ward, the right side is the activity area..." Lin Qiye muttered to himself, looking at the road sign. "This layout is exactly the same as the Mental Hospital I used to stay in."
Lin Qiye hesitated for a moment before walking into the activity area.
The activity area doesn't have many rooms, but it has everything you need: a multimedia room for watching TV and movies, a lounge for playing chess and having fun, a study for reading and studying... There's even a circular open-air lawn inside the building, with all sorts of exercise equipment on it.
"It's exactly the same, this dream is really strange." Lin Qiye frowned and shook his head in confusion.
After touring the activity area, he turned around and headed to the ward area on the other side.
When Lin Qiye reached the entrance of the ward area, he suddenly stopped.
"This place…is different now." Lin Qiye murmured to herself, looking at the dark and monotonous corridor before him.
He clearly remembered that when he was at Sunshine Mental Hospital, the wards had several floors, and although the facilities weren't very advanced, they were at least clean and tidy.
However, the ward area in front of Lin Qiye only has one floor and only six rooms.
The doors to these six rooms were covered with strange symbols and graphics, densely packed, like some kind of seal. Just one glance made Lin Qiye dizzy.
Lin Qiye forcibly looked away from the door, calmed herself down, and looked elsewhere.
In the upper right corner of the ward, there hangs an old-fashioned doorplate, with each room having a different design on it.
For example, the room number one where Lin Qiye is currently standing has a large black circle drawn on the door sign.
The sign on ward number two had a drawing that resembled both a cane and a pen.
Lin Qiye walked down the corridor until the sixth ward at the end, still clueless about the room numbers. He stared at the eerie doorway before him, lost in thought.
In this Mental Hospital in the dream, only the ward area is different from the Sunshine Mental Hospital in his memory.
So, are there actually patients living in these wards?
Or perhaps, as the name of this Mental Hospital suggests, it is inhabited by... God?
Lin Qiye hesitated for a moment, then slowly reached for the doorknob of the sixth ward.
It wasn't that Lin Qiye was being reckless. On one hand, this was his dream world, so even if something went wrong, it wouldn't have a significant impact on him. On the other hand, he had been knocking on the door of this Mental Hospital for five years, day after day, and he didn't want to leave in such a confused state.
But in his subconscious, he felt that perhaps there was some secret related to him in this Mental Hospital.Otherwise, why would the layout here be exactly the same as the Sunshine Mental Hospital where I stayed?
Lin Qiye's hand gradually approached, his fingertips gently touching the doorknob, a slightly cool sensation spreading through him.
There was no repulsive force or stinging sensation as I had imagined; my hand naturally gripped the handle.
Lin Qiye pulled hard!
The door remained completely still.
He steadied himself, and with all his might, tugged again! It still doesn't move.
Lin Qiye abandoned that room door and went to the door of the fifth ward, pulling hard on it.
It still won't open.
The fourth room, the third room, the second room...
Lin Qiye tried each room one by one, but none of the doors could be opened until finally, he reached the door of the first ward.
With a mindset that failure was inevitable, Lin Qiye forcefully pulled on the door of the first ward.
SNAP—!
A soft sound came from the doorknob, and the intricate patterns and designs engraved on the door suddenly broke and gradually disappeared into the air.
Lin Qiye was startled and took several steps back, staring intently ahead!
The door opened.
