Chapter 158 - Chapter 156: I'm sick

The main gate of the training camp.

A man dressed in casual clothes and wearing a baseball cap sneaked through the door. He looked around warily and silently pulled his mask up to completely cover his face.

"Who are you?" the instructor guarding the door asked in confusion. The man took an ID card out of his pocket, handed it to the instructor, pulled down a corner of his mask, and whispered:

"It's me!"

"Old Gu?" The instructor's eyes widened. "Why... are you dressed like this?"

Instructor Gu sighed; after two months apart, his face looked haggard.

"I stayed in the hospital for a while and came back to pick up some things, but the doctor advised me that I should avoid seeing anyone directly related to my illness... In short, I should avoid being recognized."

"I see..." The instructor nodded. "Go in quickly, and come out as soon as you're done. Those new recruits should be eating in the mess hall right now; just take a longer route."

"Okay."

Instructor Gu nodded, covered his face again, and ran like the wind towards the instructors' dormitory area.

Just as the instructor at the entrance said, most of the new recruits are now eating in the canteen, and there are hardly any people in the training camp. Occasionally, a few new recruits will pass by, but none of them are the kind of people Instructor Gu doesn't want to see.

But...

He always felt that the new recruits who passed by were looking at him very strangely.

Instructor Gu shook his head, thinking he was overthinking it. After all, he was bundled up like that; how many people could possibly recognize him? And even if they did, it probably wouldn't matter much…

"Instructor Gu is back!!!!"

A new recruit carefully examined Instructor Gu for a long time, then took a deep breath and shouted at the top of his lungs!

After his voice rang out, a series of sounds immediately followed in the distance, like beacon fires being lit, continuing all the way to the direction of the cafeteria.

"Instructor Gu is back!! He's at the entrance of the instructors' dormitory!"

"Instructor Gu was spotted at the entrance of the instructors' dormitory!!"

"Report!! Target Instructor Gu spotted at the entrance of the instructors' dormitory!!"

"..."

Instructor Gu: (งᵒ̌皿ᵒ̌)????!!!

What the hell?!

A sense of foreboding suddenly welled up in Instructor Gu's heart.

"He took off running!"

"He's reached the east side of the training ground!!"

"He crossed the training field!!"

"He's arrived at the special forces training base!!"

"His target is the office area! Report! His target is the office area!"

"..."

The recruits scattered everywhere were like human-sized walking radars, reporting Instructor Gu's location in real time. Instructor Gu almost spat out a mouthful of blood. He never dreamed that he would run into such a mess just because he came back to pick up some things!

A figure darted across the road ahead, blocking Instructor Gu's path.

Upon seeing the person who had arrived, Instructor Gu's heart skipped a beat!

Lin Qiye coughed twice, waved to Instructor Gu, and said with a smile, "Instructor Gu, long time no see!"

"Haven't seen you for a long time?"

"I thought I'll never see you again!"

Instructor Gu resisted the urge to run away. After all, he was an instructor, and there was no reason for him to flee when he saw the soldiers he led. Since he had already encountered them, he might as well bite the bullet and face them head-on.

"Is there something you need?" He forced himself to calm down and spoke slowly.

"Um...actually, I just wanted to ask, what did the doctor say to you?" Lin Qiye scratched his head. "I mean, how did he treat you?"

Instructor Gu's lips twitched. So they already knew about his illness...

Damn, this is so embarrassing!

"It wasn't a big deal. I just gave him a few words of advice, he took some medicine, and he relaxed, and he was fine," Instructor Gu said vaguely.

"How did they comfort you? What medicine did you take?"

Instructor Gu:...

"Are you sick?" he couldn't help but swear.

Lin Qiye thought about it seriously for a moment, then nodded, "Yes, I do."

"..."

"Instructor Gu, actually, after I raised that question, I've been racking my brains, unable to sleep at night, and my mental state has been getting worse and worse. Sometimes I feel completely dazed..." Lin Qiye rubbed his forehead, his voice slightly hoarse, "I think I might also..."

"You're sick too?" Instructor Gu was moved.

"So, I'd like to know how you recovered; perhaps... this could work for me too!"

Instructor Gu stared at Lin Qiye in silence for a long time, then sighed helplessly, "Fine... come with me."

A hint of joy appeared in Lin Qiye's eyes as he followed Instructor Gu into the office.

About twenty minutes later, Lin Qiye walked out of the office building, satisfied.

Finally... we succeeded!

...

The Gods Mental Hospital.

"Stop! Don't run!!"

"Hahaha!! Squidward, Squidward! You can't catch me! Hahaha!!"

"...Madman, madman!! Stop right there!"

"Jellyfish! Huge jellyfish! Squidward, let's go catch jellyfish!"

"Catch me, my foot! Don't run!"

"Oh dear, grandson, slow down! Don't fall..."

"..."

In the courtyard, Nyx sat leisurely in a rocking chair, watching the pink starfish running around and the exhausted Li Yifei, while a kind smile appeared on his face.

Li Yifei gritted his teeth, exerted all his strength, and sprinted to the pink starfish. With a roar, he shoved the tranquilizer into its body.

The pink starfish swayed, its pace gradually slowed, and finally it collapsed to the ground, transforming back into Merlin's appearance.

Li Yifei also plopped down on the ground, staring blankly at the sky above, panting heavily.

Immediately afterwards, two figures wearing white coats appeared in front of him.

Li Yifei was on the verge of tears, and he grabbed Lin Qiye's sleeve, sobbing as he began to complain:

"Lin Xi Chen! This job is inhuman! Now I have to do laundry, cook, coax Nyx, feed her medicine, and race this perverted starfish all day long!"

"I...I...this is so hard!!"

Lin Qiye lowered his head and patted his shoulder. "Li Yifei, you have to be strong! After all, you're not human...you're a snake demon!"

Li Yifei: (ಥ﹏ಥ)

"So, when are you going to send the next caregiver? I really can't manage all by myself..."

"This... might take some more time." Lin Qiye scratched his head. "After all, I'm still in the training camp and can't come into contact with any other 'mysteries'."

Lin Qiye had already seen that the cells below the dean's office could only hold "mysteries" from myths or legends. The human souls he killed would not be absorbed, let alone become caregivers.

Li Yifei's eyes instantly lost all hope for life.

"I can help you Yifei!" Lin Xi Chen voluntarily raised her hand, prompting Lin Qiye to smile faintly and pat her on the head.

Lin Qiye then helped him up from the ground and said, "Alright, go prepare lunch with him... I'll go talk to Merlin."
