Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: EVERYTHING STRONG BECOMES FOOD

TWO YEARS LATER

For two years, Cin sat at the bottom of the world.

Level 6.

The Endless Hell.

A place where the World Government buried people so dangerous that even their names were meant to disappear.

Pirates.

Murderers.

Kings.

Monsters.

Cin had entered Impel Down as something the Marines didn't understand.

Two years later—

they understood him even less.

His cell never opened.

His restraints were never removed.

The guards had learned that lesson quickly.

They had layered reinforced chains over his arms, legs, neck, and torso. Seastone cuffs had been included originally, though those had produced an amusing discovery.

They didn't weaken him.

Cin had no Devil Fruit.

The guards hadn't liked that.

So they compensated.

More chains.

Sedatives.

Cold.

Starvation.

Constant surveillance.

It didn't matter.

Because Cin possessed the one freedom Impel Down couldn't take away.

Simulation.

His physical body might have spent two years sitting inside a cell.

His mind had lived far longer.

Thousands of battles.

Thousands of deaths.

Every prisoner within range became a potential opponent.

Every guard became a study.

Every technique became data.

Every failure became another branch.

Cin simulated himself fighting swordsmen.

Brawlers.

Devil Fruit users.

Haki users.

Assassins.

Giants.

People whose names had been erased from history.

Sometimes he survived ten seconds.

Sometimes an hour.

Sometimes days.

Then he started winning.

And once he began winning—

he changed the conditions.

Blindfolded.

One arm.

Both arms.

No regeneration.

No claws.

No sight.

No hearing.

Restrained.

Poisoned.

Exhausted.

Outnumbered.

He intentionally made himself lose.

Again.

And again.

And again.

Until losing became difficult.

That was when Cin understood something important.

Strength wasn't the absence of weakness.

Strength was knowing exactly what happened when weakness appeared.

And correcting it.

A translucent interface floated before his six eyes.

STATUS

Name: Cin

Race: Abyssal Predator — Apex Form

Height: 4 meters

True Size: Unmeasured

Threat Classification: Unknown

Talent: Endless Stomach

HAKI

Observation Haki — Future Sight

Cin could perceive several seconds ahead when completely focused.

Not perfectly.

Not infinitely.

The future still changed when opponents reacted to him.

But possibilities no longer surprised him easily.

Armament Haki — Advanced/Internal Destruction

His Haki no longer merely hardened the outside of his body.

It could pass through defenses.

Strike within.

Destroy without needing to break the surface first.

Conqueror's Haki — Advanced

Cin had learned the most important lesson about Conqueror's Haki.

Power wasn't merely releasing more.

It was deciding where it went.

Two years ago, his presence exploded wildly.

Now he could make one prisoner faint while the man standing beside him felt nothing.

ABILITIES

Predator's Domain

Cin's awareness of hostile intent, movement, fear, and battlefield structure had fused with Observation Haki.

Abyssal Adaptation

Repeated exposure allowed his body to develop countermeasures to survivable threats.

Adaptation required stimulus.

It required time.

And sufficiently overwhelming attacks could still kill him before adaptation occurred.

Abyssal Regeneration

Severe injuries could regenerate rapidly provided Cin possessed sufficient biological energy.

Regeneration was not free.

The worse the wound—

the more he had to consume.

Cin dismissed the status.

Better.

Much better.

But not finished.

Never finished.

From a neighboring cell came a quiet laugh.

"You staring at that invisible thing again, bug?"

Cin didn't answer.

The prisoner had asked him that question at least forty times.

Cin had ignored him forty times.

A guard walked past.

Keys rattled.

Three seconds.

Two.

One.

The prison shook.

BOOOOOOOM!

Dust dropped from the ceiling.

The guard froze.

A second explosion followed.

Then another.

Alarms erupted throughout Impel Down.

Red lights flashed.

Voices echoed through distant corridors.

"PRISON BREAK!"

"ALL AVAILABLE FORCES TO THE UPPER LEVELS!"

"STRAW HAT LUFFY IS STILL ALIVE!"

Cin's eyes opened completely.

So.

That day had arrived.

He had simulated it.

He had heard enough guards discussing the public execution.

Enough fragments of conversation.

Enough prisoner rumors.

Enough Marine schedules.

Portgas D. Ace.

A prisoner important enough to drag half the world's military into one place.

Cin slowly stood.

His chains stretched tight.

The prisoner next door laughed again.

"Sounds like someone's having fun upstairs."

Cin stared toward the corridor.

"No."

His mouth curled upward.

"Someone is coming down."

LEVEL 6

Footsteps thundered through the corridor.

Fast.

Several people.

One presence burned brighter than the others.

Not stronger than everyone Cin had ever sensed.

But strange.

Chaotic.

Almost recklessly alive.

A young man wearing a straw hat appeared around the corner.

Monkey D. Luffy.

Behind him came Emporio Ivankov and Inazuma.

Luffy wasn't looking at the cells.

"Ace!"

He ran.

"ACE!"

No answer.

"Ace!!"

His voice became desperate.

He reached the empty cell.

Stopped.

And stared.

The chains inside hung uselessly against the wall.

No prisoner.

No brother.

Nothing.

Luffy's face went blank.

"No..."

A voice came from elsewhere.

A prisoner explained what had happened.

Ace had already been transferred.

Marineford.

Execution.

Luffy gripped the bars until his fingers shook.

"No."

Ivankov stepped toward him.

"Straw Hat Boy—"

"NO!"

Conqueror's Haki flickered from Luffy unconsciously.

Weak compared with Cin's.

Uncontrolled.

But unmistakable.

Cin's eyes narrowed.

Interesting.

Luffy spun around.

"We're going after him!"

Ivankov stared.

"Marineford?! That's insanity!"

"I DON'T CARE!"

Cin finally spoke.

"Good."

Everyone stopped.

Luffy turned.

Two red eyes became visible first.

Then four more.

Cin stepped forward until the dim prison lights revealed his armored body.

Ivankov immediately moved between Cin and Luffy.

"What are you?"

Cin looked past him.

At Luffy.

"Your brother left less than an hour ago."

Luffy's eyes widened.

"You know where they took him?!"

"Marineford."

"I know that!"

"Then stop wasting time screaming at an empty cell."

Luffy's fist tightened.

Ivankov's eyes narrowed.

"Watch yourself."

Cin looked at him.

Ivankov felt it.

Not killing intent.

Something worse.

Assessment.

As though Cin's eyes weren't looking at a person.

They were examining a problem.

Ivankov shifted slightly.

"Straw Hat Boy..."

Luffy stepped closer to Cin's cell.

"Who are you?"

"Cin."

"Why are you down here?"

"I disagreed with the Marines."

Luffy stared at the prison around them.

"That bad?"

Cin remembered four destroyed warships.

Two Admirals.

Several hundred dead Marines.

"...Yes."

Luffy pointed at his restraints.

"You strong?"

Ivankov nearly shouted.

"THAT is your question?!"

Cin smiled.

"Strong enough to be useful."

Luffy immediately looked toward the locking mechanism.

"Okay."

Ivankov grabbed him.

"WAIT!"

"We need to go!"

"Yes, but perhaps releasing the gigantic six-eyed prisoner radiating enough danger to make my skin crawl is worth THINKING ABOUT!"

Luffy stared at Cin.

Cin stared back.

"What do you want?" Luffy asked.

Good.

That was slightly smarter.

"Freedom."

"And after that?"

"Marineford."

Ivankov's expression sharpened.

"Why?"

Cin answered truthfully.

"Because everyone strong enough to matter will be there."

Silence.

Luffy didn't understand the significance.

Ivankov did.

"What happens when you get there?"

Cin's mandibles shifted faintly.

"I'll decide."

Ivankov's instincts screamed.

Do not release him.

Luffy spoke first.

"Will you help me get Ace back?"

Cin looked at him.

A promise.

He had learned that humans attached enormous importance to those.

Cin considered lying.

Didn't need to.

"Yes."

Luffy nodded.

"Then we're good."

Ivankov's jaw dropped.

"WE ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT GOOD!"

Getting Cin free took longer than Luffy would've liked.

The restraints weren't ordinary locks.

The Marines had expected external rescue attempts.

Eventually, using a stolen master key from one of the jailers and Inazuma reshaping the surrounding floor to create access, the first restraint clicked open.

Then the second.

Then the third.

Cin remained completely still.

Ivankov watched him carefully.

"Don't try anything."

Cin glanced down.

"Against you?"

Ivankov's eyebrow twitched.

The final restraint opened.

The chains hit the ground.

THOOM.

Everyone tensed.

Nothing happened.

No explosion of Haki.

No earthquake.

No roar.

Cin simply rolled his shoulders.

Luffy blinked.

"That's it?"

Cin looked at him.

"What were you expecting?"

"I dunno. Something cool."

A prisoner farther down the corridor laughed.

Then abruptly collapsed unconscious.

Luffy stared.

Ivankov stared.

Cin had not moved.

He had released enough Conqueror's Haki to strike one specific hostile presence.

No one else.

Ivankov's face changed.

Control.

Not merely power.

Cin walked past them.

"You want your brother?"

Luffy sprinted after him.

"Yeah!"

"Then run."

THE POISON WARDEN

Magellan found them before they escaped.

Of course he did.

Purple poison flooded the corridor.

Luffy stopped so violently that his sandals scraped across the stone.

His face changed.

He remembered this man.

His body remembered too.

Magellan stepped through the venom.

"You."

His eyes locked onto Luffy.

Then shifted toward Cin.

And stopped.

Magellan knew that prisoner.

Everyone important in Impel Down knew Cell 41.

The monster Marine Headquarters had personally delivered.

"So they released you."

Cin inhaled.

Poison.

Extremely concentrated.

Different from what he had simulated.

Good.

Magellan's body swelled.

Venom gathered.

"Venom Road!"

He surged forward.

Cin moved first.

BOOM!

Their collision shattered the corridor floor.

Luffy threw an arm over his face.

Ivankov dragged him backward.

"GO!"

Luffy hesitated.

Cin's claw blocked Magellan's poisoned strike.

The venom hissed against his armor.

Cin's shell immediately began discoloring.

Pain spread into his arm.

Not immune.

Excellent.

Cin twisted.

His other fist struck Magellan's stomach.

Internal Destruction passed through.

Magellan's eyes widened.

He flew backward and smashed into the wall.

But he stood.

Blood ran from his mouth.

Cin looked at his poisoned arm.

It was already swelling.

Magellan noticed.

"Your resistance won't save you."

Cin flexed his claw.

"No."

The damaged flesh tore away.

New tissue grew beneath it.

"But it gives me time."

Magellan's eyes narrowed.

Poison erupted.

Cin charged directly into it.

Luffy stared.

"He's crazy."

Ivankov shoved him.

"And so are you! MOVE!"

Luffy finally ran.

Cin heard him leaving.

Good.

Promise partially fulfilled.

Now—

Magellan.

The warden unleashed more poison than Cin had ever experienced.

Cin lost skin.

Regenerated.

Lost armor.

Adapted.

Took another hit.

Learned.

But every second drained stored energy.

Cin couldn't simply outheal this forever.

Magellan understood that too.

The poison darkened.

Venom Demon.

Even Cin's instincts screamed.

Don't touch it.

Good advice.

Cin slammed both fists into the floor.

Advanced Armament penetrated deep.

CRAAAAACK!

The entire section of corridor collapsed.

Magellan's footing vanished.

Cin launched through the falling debris and drove one armored knee into Magellan's chest.

The warden crashed down an entire level.

Not defeated.

Not dead.

But separated.

Cin landed.

His breathing was heavier.

His left arm trembled.

Purple veins crawled beneath the armor.

He smiled.

"Much better."

Then he followed Luffy.

ESCAPE

Impel Down descended into chaos.

Prisoners surged upward.

Guards fought everywhere.

Blackbeard's presence appeared briefly in the distance.

Cin stopped.

Something about that man felt wrong.

Dark.

Hungry.

Not unlike himself.

For a moment, across ruined corridors and screaming prisoners—

Marshall D. Teach and Cin saw one another.

Teach grinned.

"Zehahahaha!"

Cin stared.

Teach spread his arms.

"Now that's an interesting monster!"

Cin continued walking.

Not yet.

Behind him, Teach kept smiling.

Two predators had noticed one another.

Neither was hungry enough to turn around.

They escaped.

Barely.

Bon Clay remained behind to open the Gates of Justice.

Luffy screamed his name.

Cin watched the gates close.

Bon Clay knew he might die.

And stayed anyway.

No reward.

No evolution.

No power.

No survival advantage.

Just loyalty.

Cin didn't understand it.

Not completely.

But for some reason—

he remembered it.

MARINEFORD

The war had already begun.

The sea itself seemed violent.

Warships.

Pirate vessels.

Giants.

Cannons.

Ice.

Fire.

Steel.

Thousands upon thousands of people trying to kill one another beneath the towering fortress of Marine Headquarters.

Whitebeard stood at the center of it all.

Even at a distance, Cin felt him.

Old.

Sick.

Injured.

And monstrously powerful.

Cin's Endless Stomach tightened.

For the first time in years—

he felt true hunger.

Not starvation.

Something worse.

The desire to know what would happen if he consumed something like that.

Cin closed his mouth.

Later.

Luffy was already running.

"AACCCEEEE!"

Cin followed.

Not because he cared about Ace.

Because he had made a promise.

For now—

that still meant something.

High above the battlefield, Sengoku received the report.

"Fleet Admiral!"

"What?!"

"Prisoner Forty-One escaped Level 6!"

Sengoku froze.

"What?"

"He arrived with Straw Hat's group!"

Kizaru turned his head.

For once, his expression sharpened immediately.

Kuzan stopped.

Both Admirals remembered.

Two years ago.

The thing that had required both of them to put down.

Sakazuki looked between them.

"You know it?"

Kizaru adjusted his glasses.

"Mmm."

No humor.

"Unfortunately."

Kuzan exhaled cold mist.

"It was weaker then."

Sengoku looked toward the battlefield.

And saw Cin.

"How much weaker?"

Kuzan didn't answer.

That was answer enough.

Cin felt the first laser before it fired.

Future Sight.

He moved.

A golden beam erased the ground where he'd been standing.

Cin looked up.

Kizaru had already transformed into light.

"Long time no see."

Cin smiled.

"Kizaru."

The Admiral disappeared.

Cin turned before he reappeared.

Their legs collided.

BOOOOOOM!

The shockwave flattened dozens of nearby soldiers.

Kizaru slid backward.

Cin slid farther.

Both stopped.

Kizaru looked at him.

Two years ago, Cin had barely begun touching Logias.

Now black lightning flickered over his claws.

"Mmm."

Cin vanished.

Their fists collided again.

Armament cracked through the air.

Kizaru blocked.

Another hit.

Another.

Neither landed cleanly.

Then ice erupted beneath Cin.

He jumped.

Kuzan's hand appeared where his ankle had been.

"Don't forget me."

Cin twisted in the air.

A claw descended.

Kuzan became ice.

The Armament still connected.

CRACK!

Kuzan crashed downward.

Not seriously injured.

But hit.

Kizaru fired from behind.

Cin crossed his arms.

Explosion.

He emerged through smoke.

Armor cracked.

Already healing.

Kuzan stared upward.

"He's gotten worse."

Cin landed.

"Better."

Then magma fell from the sky.

Cin's eyes widened.

Future Sight showed death.

He moved immediately.

A gigantic molten fist obliterated the ground.

Sakazuki stepped through the heat.

"So you're the creature everyone's afraid of."

Cin looked at him.

Heat.

Far beyond Crimson Emperor.

Far beyond ordinary fire.

His body wanted to adapt merely from proximity.

Sakazuki's expression hardened.

"You're standing between justice and an execution."

Cin glanced toward Ace.

Then back.

"I don't care about your justice."

Magma bubbled.

"You will."

Cin fought all three Admirals.

Not simultaneously for long.

That would've killed him.

Instead, Marineford itself became the weapon.

He broke sightlines.

Moved through Whitebeard's commanders.

Used pirate attacks to interfere with Marine attacks.

Used Marine attacks to scatter pirates.

Forced Kizaru to avoid allies.

Forced Kuzan to divide attention.

Refused to stand in front of Sakazuki longer than necessary.

Two years ago—

Cin would've attacked the strongest person directly.

Now he understood something better.

The battlefield mattered.

For nearly twenty minutes, the Marines failed to pin him down.

And during those twenty minutes—

Luffy got closer to Ace.

That was enough.

THE PROMISE

Ace was freed.

The moment his restraints fell away, Luffy screamed with joy.

Ace smiled.

The Whitebeard Pirates roared.

Even Cin stopped fighting long enough to watch.

Done.

The promise had been fulfilled.

Help me get Ace back.

Cin had.

Ace was free.

Luffy had his brother.

Debt completed.

Cin turned away.

Then his system appeared.

Without being called.

DING.

[HIGH-VALUE BIOLOGICAL SIGNATURE DETECTED.]

Cin stopped.

The interface highlighted Ace.

[UNUSUAL LINEAGE FACTOR.][DEVIL FRUIT INTEGRATION DETECTED.][EXTREME WILLPOWER.][POTENTIAL EVOLUTION CATALYST: EXCEPTIONAL.]

Cin stared.

His Endless Stomach contracted.

Hungry.

He dismissed the screen.

"No."

A strange word.

He hadn't needed to say it aloud.

He continued walking.

Behind him, Ace and Luffy ran.

Sakazuki spoke.

He insulted Whitebeard.

Ace stopped.

Cin looked back.

Luffy grabbed him.

Ace wouldn't move.

Pride.

Loyalty.

Anger.

Cin understood all three.

Sakazuki attacked.

Ace met him.

Fire and magma collided.

Ace lost.

Cin watched.

The system returned.

[CATALYST VULNERABLE.]

Cin's jaw tightened.

He remembered Bon Clay.

A man willingly staying behind.

He remembered the slaves.

People treated like property.

He remembered his own words.

Who gave you the right to own others?

Then another memory came.

Crimson Emperor.

Consumed.

Titan Beetle.

Consumed.

Players.

Consumed.

Every strong thing Cin had ever devoured had made him better.

He had survived because he ate.

He had evolved because he ate.

The system didn't care about loyalty.

The Endless Stomach didn't care about morality.

Nature certainly didn't.

One creature lived.

Another became food.

Why should Ace be different?

Because Luffy trusted him?

Cin looked toward the Straw Hat.

Luffy was smiling.

He thought they'd won.

For some reason—

that made the decision harder.

Sakazuki lunged toward Luffy.

Ace moved to protect him.

Cin saw the future.

Ace dying.

Luffy breaking.

History turning on one fist.

Cin could stop it.

He moved.

Everyone saw a black blur.

Luffy's eyes widened.

"Cin!"

Ace turned.

Cin reached Sakazuki first.

His fist slammed into the Admiral's magma arm.

Advanced Armament exploded internally.

Sakazuki's attack was knocked aside.

Luffy gasped.

Ace stared.

Cin had saved him.

Again.

For half a second—

Ace smiled.

"Thanks."

Cin looked at him.

That one word nearly stopped him.

Nearly.

The system chimed.

[CATALYST WITHIN RANGE.]

Cin raised his claw.

Luffy's smile disappeared.

"...Cin?"

Ace saw his eyes.

Too late.

THUNK.

Cin's claw entered Ace's chest.

Ace's mouth opened.

No sound came out.

Luffy froze.

Sakazuki froze.

Whitebeard's commanders froze.

Even Cin stood perfectly still.

His arm was buried through the man he'd promised to save.

Ace looked down.

Then at Cin.

"Why...?"

Cin had an answer.

It was logical.

Simple.

Terrible.

"I already saved you."

Blood ran down his claw.

"The promise is over."

Luffy screamed.

"ACEEEEEEEEE!"

Cin pulled Ace toward him.

Luffy grabbed his arm.

"No! NO! CIN, STOP!"

Cin looked at him.

Luffy was crying.

Not battle tears.

Not pain.

Something deeper.

Cin hesitated.

A fraction of a second.

Then Endless Stomach won.

He consumed Ace.

Silence.

Cin's body convulsed.

Fire erupted through the cracks in his carapace.

Not controlled.

Not mastered.

Raw.

Foreign.

Violent.

The Mera Mera no Mi's Lineage Factor fought against Cin's biology.

His system screamed.

[FOREIGN BIOLOGICAL ABILITY ABSORBED.][COMPATIBILITY: 31%.][WARNING: INSTABILITY.]

Flames exploded around him.

Cin roared.

His body adapted.

Again.

Again.

Again.

Until the fire stopped rejecting him.

Across Marineford—

Luffy fell to his knees.

He couldn't speak.

Couldn't breathe.

Couldn't understand.

Cin had helped him.

Cin had promised.

Cin had saved Ace from Sakazuki.

And then—

Cin killed him.

Whitebeard's face changed.

No speech.

No dramatic declaration.

Just grief.

Then rage.

The sea tilted.

Cin looked up.

Whitebeard had moved.

His naginata came down.

Cin's Future Sight showed disaster.

He crossed both arms.

The quake hit.

THE WORLD BROKE.

Cin flew across Marineford.

Buildings shattered beneath his body.

His shell cracked.

Internal organs ruptured.

One arm broke.

He stopped several hundred meters away.

Then laughed.

Not because it was funny.

Because he had finally understood.

Whitebeard wasn't merely strong.

His anger had weight.

Cin regenerated.

Slowly.

Whitebeard walked toward him.

"My son."

The ground fractured around his feet.

"You ate my son."

Cin stood.

Flames crawled over his armor.

"Yes."

Whitebeard's Conqueror's Haki erupted.

Cin answered.

Black-red lightning split the sky between them.

For one moment—

Marineford forgot its war.

Everyone watched two monsters stare at one another.

One fighting because he loved too much.

The other because hunger had finally become stronger than whatever humanity he'd brought into this world.

THE WORLD TURNS ON CIN

Sakazuki attacked first.

Magma struck Cin's side.

Cin blocked with fire.

Bad choice.

Sakazuki's magma overwhelmed it instantly.

Cin's shell burned.

He moved.

Sakazuki pursued.

"You filth."

Cin blocked another magma fist.

"You wanted him dead."

"By justice."

Sakazuki's eyes burned.

"Not butchered for your appetite."

Cin almost laughed.

Humans.

Even executioners had rules about killing.

Sakazuki's fist struck.

Cin caught it.

Magma burned through his palm.

He didn't release it.

Internal Destruction surged.

Sakazuki coughed blood.

Then headbutted Cin.

Cin staggered.

A magma-covered knee struck his stomach.

Cin retaliated with a Conqueror's-coated elbow.

The collision sent black lightning across the battlefield.

This wasn't the one-sided execution Cin had imagined two years ago.

Sakazuki was a monster too.

Good.

Cin needed that.

They fought through ruins.

Magma burned holes through Cin.

Cin regenerated.

Cin cracked Sakazuki's ribs.

Sakazuki kept moving.

One burned.

One adapted.

One refused.

Then Whitebeard entered the fight.

Not as Cin's ally.

Not as Sakazuki's.

He attacked both.

A quake shattered the battlefield.

Sakazuki escaped one direction.

Cin another.

Whitebeard went directly after Cin.

"You don't get to leave."

Cin grinned.

"I wasn't planning to."

Luffy was still on the ground.

Jinbe reached him.

Ivankov screamed.

Whitebeard's crew wanted Cin dead.

The Marines wanted Cin dead.

But they didn't suddenly become friends.

Pirates still attacked Marines.

Marines still attacked pirates.

The war continued.

There was simply one new truth everyone understood.

If Cin reached someone important—

he might eat them.

And nobody knew what would happen afterward.

Sengoku roared across the battlefield.

"PRIORITIZE THE LEVEL SIX ENTITY!"

Kizaru sighed.

"Mmm. What a troublesome day."

Kuzan froze an entire route in front of Cin.

Cin shattered it.

Kizaru fired.

Cin dodged.

Whitebeard swung.

Cin blocked.

Sakazuki emerged from magma behind him.

The fist landed.

Cin's torso exploded.

For one second—

everyone thought he was dead.

Then black armor began crawling back over exposed bone.

Sakazuki stared.

Cin's claw seized his wrist.

"Got you."

Future Sight.

Sakazuki saw nothing.

Cin had deliberately allowed the hit.

Internal Destruction surged through Sakazuki's body.

The Admiral roared.

Cin struck again.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

Sakazuki answered every hit with magma.

Cin's regeneration screamed.

His energy reserves collapsed.

Both monsters refused to release the other.

Finally—

Cin's claw entered Sakazuki's chest.

The Admiral grabbed Cin's throat.

Magma consumed half his face.

Cin didn't stop.

Sakazuki's eyes widened.

Cin pulled.

The Admiral fell.

For several seconds—

Sakazuki was still alive.

Still trying to stand.

Cin looked at him.

Then at Luffy.

Then at Whitebeard.

He knew what would happen if he did this.

He knew everyone would see him differently.

He knew there would be no pretending anymore.

Good.

Cin consumed Sakazuki.

[SECOND FOREIGN LINEAGE FACTOR ACQUIRED.][MAGU MAGU NO MI SIGNATURE.][COMPATIBILITY: 14%.][WARNING.][MULTIPLE DEVIL FRUIT FACTORS DETECTED.][HOST BIOLOGY DESTABILIZING.]

Cin screamed.

Magma erupted beneath his armor.

Fire and magma fought inside him.

His regeneration tried rebuilding tissue while both Devil Fruit factors rewrote it differently.

The system attempted integration.

Cin collapsed to one knee.

This wasn't a free power-up.

This was poisoning himself with power.

Perfect.

He forced himself upright.

"Adapt."

[FAILURE.]

His body cracked.

"Again."

[FAILURE.]

Magma tore through his arm.

"Again."

[PARTIAL SUCCESS.]

Cin smiled.

The arm regenerated.

Black magma veins remained beneath the armor.

[HYBRIDIZATION ACHIEVED.][MERA MERA FACTOR — PARTIAL.][MAGU MAGU FACTOR — PARTIAL.][SIMULTANEOUS OUTPUT NOT RECOMMENDED.]

Not mastered.

Not awakened.

Not free.

But his.

For now.

WHITEBEARD

Whitebeard didn't care about Cin's new abilities.

He attacked anyway.

Cin met him.

Quake against Haki.

Magma against steel.

Flame against air.

Claw against naginata.

The first clash split the sky.

The second shattered Marineford's plaza.

The third drove Cin through the earth.

Whitebeard was dying.

Cin knew it.

Disease.

Wounds.

Age.

Accumulated damage.

His body was failing.

But his will?

That hadn't received the message.

Cin's Future Sight became unreliable around him.

Not because Whitebeard could magically turn it off.

Because every future contained destruction.

Dodge left?

Quake.

Right?

Naginata.

Backward?

Shockwave.

Forward?

Whitebeard's fist.

Cin laughed despite himself.

"What are you?"

Whitebeard spat blood.

"A father."

He punched.

Cin barely blocked.

Both arms fractured.

Whitebeard's fist continued forward.

Cin's face met it.

BOOM!

He hit the ground.

Whitebeard stood above him.

"Something like you wouldn't understand."

Cin's smile disappeared.

That sentence bothered him.

More than it should have.

He remembered Luffy crying.

Bon Clay staying behind.

The slaves holding one another.

Things Cin kept observing.

Things the system never rewarded.

Things that didn't make people stronger—

yet somehow made them do impossible things.

Cin attacked harder.

Maybe because he wanted Whitebeard to shut up.

Maybe because some part of him feared the old man was right.

Their fight became ugly.

No elegance.

No easy domination.

Whitebeard was already dying.

Cin was burning through energy faster than Endless Stomach could replace it.

Both had suffered dozens of wounds.

Whitebeard's chest was torn open.

Cin had lost and regenerated three limbs.

Quake damage repeatedly ruptured his insides.

His Devil Fruit integrations destabilized whenever Whitebeard hit him.

Still—

Cin adapted.

Slowly.

His Observation changed.

Armament changed.

Conqueror's changed.

Not new levels randomly appearing from nowhere.

Three systems being used simultaneously until the separation between them became inefficient.

Observation told him where to strike.

Armament told his power how to enter.

Conqueror's imposed his will onto the strike.

Why activate them separately?

Cin inhaled.

Future Sight.

Internal Destruction.

Conqueror's coating.

Together.

Not merged into magic.

Unified into one action.

One intent.

One strike.

The system appeared.

[COMBAT SYNTHESIS DETECTED.][PREDATOR'S DOMAIN EVOLVING.]

Whitebeard attacked.

Cin saw it.

Felt it.

Understood its internal structure.

His claw moved.

Their attacks collided.

For the first time—

Cin didn't get launched.

Black-red lightning erupted.

Whitebeard's eyes sharpened.

Cin's new state settled.

ABYSSAL SOVEREIGNTY

Not a fourth Haki.

Not something that erased reality.

A synthesis.

Cin's Observation, Armament, Conqueror's Haki, predatory instincts, and adaptive combat processing acting as one system.

Whitebeard smiled.

Actually smiled.

"Gurarara..."

Cin stared.

"What's funny?"

"You finally stopped relying on that body of yours."

Whitebeard raised his naginata.

"And started fighting."

Cin's six eyes narrowed.

Whitebeard charged.

So did Cin.

The final exchange destroyed what remained of the plaza.

Whitebeard's quake tore through Cin's abdomen.

Cin's claw pierced Whitebeard's chest.

Neither stopped.

Whitebeard punched.

Cin's jaw shattered.

Cin regenerated while attacking.

Whitebeard's body refused to move as fast as his will demanded.

There.

Cin saw it.

The opening.

Not because Cin had surpassed a healthy Whitebeard.

Not because Whitebeard was weak.

Because the old man's body had finally accumulated more damage than even his monstrous endurance could ignore.

Cin appeared inside the naginata's reach.

Whitebeard tried to move.

His knee buckled.

Just slightly.

Enough.

Cin's claw pierced his chest.

Whitebeard grunted.

Cin froze.

The battlefield quieted around them.

Whitebeard looked down at the wound.

Then at Cin.

"You think eating strength makes it yours?"

Cin tightened his grip.

"It has so far."

Whitebeard smiled.

"Then you're still hungry because you haven't understood a damn thing."

Cin's eyes narrowed.

Whitebeard's hand closed around Cin's head.

One final quake exploded point-blank.

Cin screamed.

His skull cracked.

Half his armor shattered.

But his claw remained inside Whitebeard.

Eventually—

the quake ended.

Whitebeard remained standing.

Cin staggered backward.

Whitebeard didn't move.

The old pirate was dead.

Still standing.

Cin looked at him.

For once—

he didn't immediately eat.

The Endless Stomach demanded it.

The system highlighted the corpse.

[EXTREME-VALUE CATALYST.]

Cin stared at Whitebeard's face.

Then heard Luffy crying somewhere behind him.

He remembered Whitebeard's final words.

Cin's hand trembled.

Then tightened.

"No."

He stepped away.

The system remained.

[CATALYST DECAYING.]

Cin walked farther.

[GURA GURA LINEAGE FACTOR WILL DISPERSE.]

He stopped.

Hunger clawed at him.

Power.

Evolution.

Survival.

The things that had kept him alive since he was an ant.

He looked back.

One decision.

That was all.

Cin returned.

And consumed Whitebeard.

Whatever remained of the person Cin had once been—

became quieter.

[GURA GURA NO MI FACTOR DETECTED.][HOST CAPACITY EXCEEDED.][WARNING.][WARNING.][WARNING.]

Cin's eyes widened.

His body split.

Not metaphorically.

A crack opened directly through his chest.

Magma erupted from one side.

Flames from the other.

A quake burst from inside his own body.

BOOOOOOOM!

Cin screamed.

His system flickered violently.

[THREE FOREIGN WORLD ABILITY MATRICES ACTIVE.][BIOLOGICAL COHERENCE: 43%.][31%.][19%.]

Cin fell.

He forced regeneration.

The new tissue tore apart immediately.

He regenerated again.

Destroyed.

Again.

Destroyed.

Garp landed in front of him.

Cin looked up.

The old Marine's face was wet.

Ace.

Whitebeard.

Luffy.

Duty.

Rage.

Everything collided inside him.

"You..."

Garp's fist darkened.

Cin's Future Sight screamed.

"...have done enough."

Garp punched.

Cin raised both arms.

CRACK.

His defenses broke.

The fist hit his chest.

Cin disappeared through half of Marineford.

For the first time since escaping Impel Down—

Cin couldn't immediately stand.

His body was too unstable.

Garp walked through the wreckage.

Cin laughed weakly.

"You're strong."

Garp's expression twisted.

"Shut up."

Cin's regeneration restarted.

Garp punched again.

Cin caught the fist.

Barely.

Black lightning exploded between them.

Cin tried Abyssal Sovereignty.

His body failed.

The Mera factor surged.

The Magu factor fought it.

The Gura factor destabilized everything.

Garp's second fist hit.

Cin's vision went white.

He had made a mistake.

A real one.

Not tactical.

Not combat.

Evolution itself had become greed.

He had consumed faster than he could adapt.

And now—

his own power was killing him.

Then the system screamed.

[CRITICAL HOST FAILURE.][CROSS-WORLD INTEGRATION LIMIT EXCEEDED.]

Cin's eyes widened.

"What?"

[HOST CONTAINS MULTIPLE WORLD-BOUND LAW MATRICES.][ORIGINAL HOST STRUCTURE DESTABILIZING.]

Space behind him cracked.

The same color.

The same distortion.

The same sensation he'd experienced when Roland knocked him from his original world.

No.

Cin dug his claws into the ground.

"Not again."

Garp stepped back.

Sengoku stared.

Kizaru stopped attacking.

Kuzan watched as a black-golden fissure formed in reality.

This wasn't Haki.

It wasn't a Devil Fruit.

It was Cin's system reacting to something it could no longer contain.

[EMERGENCY DISPLACEMENT PROTOCOL.]

"No!"

Cin fought it.

His claws carved trenches through Marineford.

The portal pulled harder.

[CURRENT WORLD CAN NO LONGER SAFELY HOST INTEGRATED BIOLOGY.]

Cin roared.

"I decide where I go!"

[NEGATIVE.]

For perhaps the first time ever—

the system refused him.

Cin's grip broke.

He flew backward.

The last thing he saw was Marineford.

Ruined.

Whitebeard dead.

Sakazuki gone.

Luffy unconscious.

Garp staring after him.

Pirates and Marines united only in one emotion.

Not fear.

Not hatred.

Something worse.

Relief.

They were relieved he was leaving.

Then Cin disappeared.

ANOTHER WORLD

Cin hit dirt.

Hard.

A crater formed beneath him.

For several seconds, he didn't move.

Then—

he coughed.

That startled him.

Cin hadn't coughed like a human in years.

He opened his eyes.

Two.

Not six.

He looked at his hands.

Hands.

Human hands.

Skin.

Fingers.

No armor.

No claws.

No mandibles.

Cin sat upright.

"What..."

His voice was human.

His original voice.

He stared down at himself.

The body he had possessed before becoming an ant.

The body he had nearly forgotten.

The system flickered.

[EMERGENCY RECONSTRUCTION COMPLETE.][HOST BIOLOGY RESET TO STABLE TEMPLATE.]

Cin's breathing stopped.

"No."

He tried Armament.

Nothing.

Observation.

Nothing.

Conqueror's.

Nothing.

Magma.

Nothing.

Flame.

Nothing.

Quake.

Nothing.

Abyssal Carapace.

Gone.

Regeneration.

Gone.

Cin stood violently.

"Give it back."

[UNAVAILABLE.]

His hands shook.

"Give it back!"

[FOREIGN POWER MATRICES QUARANTINED.][REASON: HOST DESTRUCTION IMMINENT.]

"I don't care!"

[HOST SURVIVAL PRIORITIZED.]

Cin punched the ground.

Pain shot through his fist.

Human pain.

Weak pain.

He stared at his knuckles.

Blood.

One tiny cut.

After everything—

a rock had hurt him.

Cin laughed.

A horrible, breathless laugh.

Then somebody spoke behind him.

"Uh..."

Cin spun around.

A short bald man in an orange martial-arts uniform stood several meters away holding a grocery bag.

Krillin blinked.

"You okay?"

Cin stared.

Human.

No threatening aura.

No Haki.

No weapon.

Nothing.

Yet his instincts—

whatever fragments remained—

were screaming.

Danger.

Impossible danger.

Krillin lifted one eyebrow.

"You're bleeding."

Cin took one step backward.

Krillin noticed.

"Hey, I'm not gonna hurt you."

Cin's eyes narrowed.

"What are you?"

Krillin looked down at himself.

"...A guy buying groceries?"

Cin's system activated.

[LOCAL ENERGY SIGNATURE DETECTED.][ANALYZING.]

Cin waited.

[ERROR.]

His heart dropped.

[TARGET ENERGY EXCEEDS CURRENT MEASUREMENT RANGE.]

Cin stared at Krillin.

Krillin smiled awkwardly.

"Okay. You're definitely having a weird day."

This...

human...

was outside the system's current measurement range?

Cin clenched his fists.

"No."

Krillin scratched his cheek.

"No what?"

Cin attacked.

Not because it was smart.

Because pride moved faster than reason.

He punched Krillin.

Krillin shifted half a step.

Cin missed.

He kicked.

Krillin leaned backward.

Missed.

Cin attacked again.

Krillin caught his wrist.

Gently.

Cin couldn't move.

His entire body froze.

Krillin wasn't straining.

Wasn't angry.

Wasn't even breathing differently.

"Okay," Krillin said, "maybe don't do that."

Cin pulled.

Nothing.

He attacked with his other hand.

Krillin caught that too.

Now Cin stood helplessly with both wrists held by one confused bald man carrying groceries.

"You done?"

Cin stared at him.

Krillin released him.

Cin stumbled backward.

He looked at his hands.

No.

No.

He had fought Admirals.

Killed Sakazuki.

Fought Whitebeard.

Survived Garp.

And this random human—

had restrained him like a child.

A new presence descended.

Cin looked upward.

A man with black hair floated down.

Orange gi.

Friendly expression.

Goku.

He landed beside Krillin.

"Hey, Krillin!"

Krillin sighed.

"Great timing."

Goku looked at Cin.

"Huh."

Cin felt another wave of dread.

Goku wasn't releasing energy.

Cin could somehow tell.

This wasn't power.

This was what happened when something powerful enough learned how not to leak it.

Goku tilted his head.

"Never felt energy like yours before."

Cin's jaw tightened.

"You can sense me?"

"Kinda."

Goku smiled.

"You're really weak right now, though."

Silence.

Krillin winced.

"Goku."

"What?"

"You don't just say that to people."

"But he is."

Cin's eye twitched.

His fists shook.

Weak.

That word.

Again.

After all of it.

Weak.

Another figure descended.

Vegeta landed several meters away.

He looked at Cin once.

Then at Goku.

"This is what you stopped training for?"

Goku laughed.

"I was curious!"

Vegeta's eyes returned to Cin.

Cin felt something inside himself shrink.

Not power.

Pride.

Vegeta scoffed.

"There's nothing here."

He turned away.

That hurt more than an insult.

Cin wanted Vegeta to threaten him.

Mock him.

Attack him.

Anything.

Instead—

he wasn't worth the effort.

Goku looked at Cin.

"You wanna learn how to use ki?"

Cin froze.

"What?"

Krillin smiled.

"There. That's the version of Goku that's actually helpful."

Goku grinned.

"You feel different. Like you've fought before."

Cin said nothing.

"Your body doesn't match it," Goku continued. "It's like your head remembers being strong."

Cin's expression changed.

That was exactly it.

His body was weak.

But he remembered.

Every death.

Every battle.

Every lesson.

Everything.

The system chimed.

[LOCAL POWER SYSTEM IDENTIFIED.]KI.

Cin's heartbeat quickened.

[CURRENT HOST POWER LEVEL ESTIMATE: 5.]

His face went blank.

Five.

Cin stared at the number.

Then the system displayed another reading.

Krillin.

[CALCULATION FAILED.]

Goku.

[CALCULATION ABORTED.]

Vegeta.

[CALCULATION ABORTED.]

Cin's knees nearly buckled.

Different world.

Different ceiling.

He had climbed one mountain until he thought he had reached the sky.

Then he'd been dropped onto another mountain—

and discovered his old summit wasn't even above the clouds.

Krillin looked concerned.

"Seriously, man. Sit down."

Cin did.

Not because Krillin told him to.

Because his legs stopped cooperating.

For several minutes—

the former Apex Predator said nothing.

THE TRUTH

The system opened.

[CROSS-WORLD ANALYSIS COMPLETE.][PREVIOUS POWER CANNOT BE SAFELY RESTORED.]

Cin's jaw tightened.

Then:

[PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE RETAINED.]

Cin looked up.

Knowledge?

[COMBAT EXPERIENCE: RETAINED.][HAKI THEORY: RETAINED.][ADAPTIVE EXPERIENCE: RETAINED.][PREDATOR'S DOMAIN FOUNDATION: RETAINED.][MEMORY: RETAINED.]

Cin stared.

His strength was gone.

But the road wasn't.

He remembered every step.

The first ant he ate.

ChomperTheGreat stepping on him.

Goblins.

Crimson Emperor.

Roland.

Kizaru.

Kuzan.

Impel Down.

Magellan.

Ace.

Luffy screaming.

Whitebeard.

Garp.

Everything.

The system continued.

[NEW WORLD DETECTED.][LOCAL GROWTH CEILING: EXTREME.][HOST COMPATIBILITY ANALYSIS...][RESULT.][EVOLUTION POTENTIAL: UNKNOWN.]

Cin slowly stood.

Krillin looked at him.

"You feeling better?"

Cin didn't answer.

His system displayed four paths.

AVAILABLE SIMULATION PATHS

1. KI FOUNDATION

Build the body's ability to generate, contain, sense, and manipulate ki.

2. CROSS-SYSTEM TRANSLATION

Attempt to rebuild principles from Haki using the laws of this universe.

Power will not transfer directly.

Understanding may.

3. SAIYAN BIOLOGY RESEARCH

Study Saiyan physiology through simulated evolutionary models.

WARNING: HOST DOES NOT CURRENTLY POSSESS SAIYAN BIOLOGY.

Integration requires extensive experimentation.

4. EXTREME SURVIVAL EVOLUTION

Repeated lethal simulations designed to force adaptation under Dragon Ball environmental standards.

WARNING: FAILURE RATE — 99.997%.

Cin read the options.

Then smiled.

Goku noticed.

"Oh! You look happier."

Krillin frowned.

"I don't know if I'd call that a happy smile."

Cin selected the first option.

Then the second.

Then the third.

Then the fourth.

The system stopped.

[CONCURRENT SIMULATIONS NOT RECOMMENDED.]

"Do it."

[HOST FAILURE PROBABILITY EXTREME.]

Cin's smile widened.

"I've died before."

[SIMULATION DEATH COUNT ESTIMATE: EXCEEDS DISPLAY LIMIT.]

Goku blinked.

Cin was apparently talking to himself now.

Vegeta had already lost interest.

Krillin looked worried.

Cin closed his eyes.

He had once thought the system existed to make him strong.

Wrong.

It existed to give him opportunities.

Strength still had to be taken.

Earned.

Survived.

His first world had taught him how to evolve.

The second taught him what happened when evolution became hunger.

This world?

Cin didn't know yet.

Good.

For the first time in a very long while—

he had no idea what came next.

The system chimed.

[PARALLEL SIMULATION PROTOCOL UNLOCKED.][KI FOUNDATION.][CROSS-SYSTEM TRANSLATION.][SAIYAN BIOLOGY RESEARCH.][EXTREME SURVIVAL.][BEGIN?]

Cin remembered Luffy's face.

Ace asking why.

Whitebeard telling him he understood nothing.

He remembered becoming powerful enough that an entire battlefield had been relieved when he disappeared.

For just a moment—

his finger hovered.

Was strength the only thing worth evolving?

Could something else change too?

Cin didn't know.

Then he selected—

YES.

The world vanished.

SIMULATION ONE

Cin opened his eyes.

He was an infant.

A voice spoke.

[OBJECTIVE: LEARN KI FROM ZERO.]

He died three years later.

SIMULATION TWO

Cin opened his eyes.

Planet Vegeta burned above him.

[OBJECTIVE: UNDERSTAND SAIYAN ADAPTATION.]

He died in twelve seconds.

SIMULATION THREE

Cin stood before an opponent he couldn't see.

[OBJECTIVE: TRANSLATE OBSERVATION HAKI PRINCIPLES INTO KI SENSING.]

Something punched his head off.

SIMULATION FOUR

Cin opened his eyes in empty space.

[OBJECTIVE: SURVIVE.]

He couldn't breathe.

He died.

Darkness.

Then—

[RESTART.]

Cin smiled.

Again.

He died.

[RESTART.]

Again.

Death.

[RESTART.]

Again.

Again.

Again.

Again.

The number climbed.

Hundreds.

Thousands.

Tens of thousands.

Cin kept returning.

Not stronger.

Not yet.

But learning.

One simulation lasted twelve seconds.

The next lasted thirteen.

Then fourteen.

Then twenty.

Then a minute.

The first time Cin successfully produced a spark of ki—

he stared at the light in his palm.

Tiny.

Pathetic.

Beautiful.

His system chimed.

[NEW FOUNDATION ACQUIRED.]

Cin closed his fist.

Once—

he had become the apex predator of another world.

He had thought that meant he'd reached the end.

Now he understood.

There was no apex.

Only the next thing above you.

And the next.

And the next.

His eyes opened.

For the first time since losing everything—

Cin laughed.

Not with arrogance.

Not with hunger.

With excitement.

"Again."

[SIMULATION STARTING.]

The world shattered around him.

And Cin—

Power Level 5.

Human.

Powerless.

Humiliated.

Alive—

began evolving from zero.
