Chapter 397 - Chapter 396: Condolences

There was no doubt about it. This was something Kakuzu had gotten used to. Their leader didn't have many hobbies; he just liked collecting kids. He was only in his twenties and had already adopted two. Kakuzu didn't know why, and he didn't dare ask. But no matter what the order was, Kakuzu would complete it seriously. After all, they had fought side-by-side before, and they had a bond from those days. And now, the leader had finally found a base for the organization, which was a very good thing.

Most organizations were just hidden in the shadows, and any random cave they carved out would be their base of operations. That's how they had lived before. But now, they finally had their own territory. The Land of Rain, where Kakuzu had stayed for a while, was a decent place. It rained a lot, and there was little sun, but it was still better than wandering around.

After Torifu left, Kakuzu got up and left the cave to gather his comrades to build their new home. When he walked out of the cave, there were hundreds of people standing outside, all wearing black robes with gold lotus flowers on them. They were all members of the Lotus Organization, and Kakuzu had recruited them from all over the world over the years. They had followed Kakuzu everywhere and were all incredibly loyal to the organization.

"Comrades, I have a message from the leader."

Upon hearing Kakuzu's words, hundreds of people stood up in unison. "Vice-Leader, tell us! What's the leader's new order! We'll do it right away!"

Kakuzu gave a rare smile. "I do have an order for you, but let's put it aside for now. The leader just told me some good news. I'm sure you all know that a war broke out in the Land of Rain."

"The leader and the Kage of the other two great ninja villages teamed up to drive Hanzō out of the Land of Rain and divided it into three parts."

Upon hearing this, some of the smarter ones already realized what the good news was! Their bodies couldn't help but tremble as they waited for Kakuzu to say the words!

"The leader has decided to hand over that one-third of the Land of Rain to us to govern! From now on, we finally have a home!"

As soon as he said that, everyone erupted into thunderous cheers! The sound echoed throughout the entire valley, startling countless birds into the air! After so many years, they had finally found a stable base. Before, they had just wandered wherever they ended up. The organization was very good to them, and it was never stingy with money, so no one ever complained. But they still felt like something was missing.

And now, they suddenly had a home, and everyone was incredibly excited! The empty space in their hearts had finally been filled! Although they would still be traveling all over the world in the future, they knew that they weren't wanderers anymore; they had a home.

"Let's go, brothers, to the Land of Rain and build our organization there!"

Everyone knew that the leader of the organization was the Hokage of Konoha, which was one reason why some people followed him. But most of the people joined because Kakuzu had reached out and helped them in times of need. It could be said that the people in this organization regarded Torifu as a spiritual leader, while Kakuzu was their tangible one. After all, they had never met Torifu.

After his consciousness returned to his body, Torifu got out of bed. He still had a lot of things to do. He needed to go and offer his condolences to the families of the deceased. Torifu spent an entire day visiting the home of every single ninja who had died. Some homes had two children and a widowed wife, while others had elderly parents crying their eyes out. Some of the ninja had been single and had no family. Torifu left some money for every family, and he promised that their parents would be supported by Konoha, and all the educational expenses for their children would be paid for by the village. This was a very generous compensation.

Torifu could only do this to make himself feel a little better. He would have to go through this all again in a few days when they held the funeral. It was the first time in all his years as Hokage that Torifu didn't want to stand in front of everyone and give a speech; he was even a little repulsed by the idea. But he had no choice. These things were necessary. Torifu couldn't just send a puppet to handle such a serious occasion. Although no one would find out, he felt that it would be an insult to the ninja who had died.

By the time he got home, it was already dark. It had been a very busy day. As soon as he left one family, he had to go to the next. But he didn't feel tired. He only felt fulfilled.

"Big Brother, where were you all day? I haven't seen you all day."

Torifu ruffled Minato's hair. "I went to do something that had to be done. Don't worry about me. How is your training coming along?"

"Still the same. My speed has slowed down, but I'm confident. I will definitely master the Flying Thunder God Jutsu!"

Seeing Minato's confidence, Torifu was in a good mood.

"Remember to find a balance between work and rest. Don't be too eager. Sometimes, you just need to think more."

Minato nodded. He had been trying to figure out the essence of the Flying Thunder God Jutsu these past few days, but he just couldn't grasp it. Maybe he didn't understand it well enough.

After saying that, Torifu went back into the house to rest, not even eating dinner. Minato knew his big brother was tired, so he left the compound by himself to find something to eat outside. Konoha's cuisine was now very diverse, and you could live very comfortably even if you didn't cook. The prerequisite was that you had money. Minato had enough allowance to spend a long time in the village. He was usually very frugal and didn't spend money recklessly.

Torifu fell asleep as soon as he lay down on the bed. His act of visiting over four hundred families in one day had spread throughout the village. Everyone was very touched, and people were talking about his actions everywhere. This was something a normal person couldn't do. Visiting over four hundred homes in one day and giving gifts. A normal person's energy would be exhausted after visiting a hundred families, and their shoes would be worn out. Let alone the Hokage visiting four hundred families in one day. The families of the deceased were also very touched by Torifu's actions. War was the most heartless thing, and casualties were unavoidable. The Hokage had done more than enough.

The next morning, when Torifu woke up, he felt a sharp pain in his legs. It felt as if they weren't his anymore. This was probably due to what he had done the day before. He had pushed himself and had been over his physical limit. Today, it was finally showing. But it didn't matter. With a wave of his hand, a green light flashed, and the pain in his legs lessened. It was still there, but it was enough for him to move normally.

"Phew. I went a little overboard yesterday."

But he didn't regret it. The funeral was tomorrow, and today he needed to make some preparations. Everything was proceeding in an orderly fashion. The ninja who had rested for a day were now back on duty, and Konoha began to operate once again.
