Chapter 458 - Chapter 457: The Elders' Discussion

Torifu wasn't too nervous.

But Hashirama and Tobirama were a little flustered. The Clan Head of the Uchiha Clan coming to the Senju Clan for dinner—how long had it been since such a major event happened! They had to take it seriously! Although Teruya was no longer the Clan Head, he was the former Clan Head, so his status was nearly the same.

"Sensei, don't be too nervous. Uncle is coming for dinner in his capacity as Naori's father, not as the Uchiha Clan Head visiting the Senju Clan."

Hashirama gave Torifu a reproachful look. "You brash boy, do you think I don't know something that simple? But even if he is Naori's father, this still needs to be taken seriously!"

Seeing that his advice was useless, Torifu stopped talking.

"Big Brother Torifu, if Grand-Sensei is this busy and worked up over your wedding with Big Sister Naori, what do you think he'll be like when I get married?" Tsunade asked.

Torifu tried to imagine it, but he couldn't picture the scene. Would he have a dark expression? Or would he be beaming with joy? Both were possible.

"Well, first things first, you're thinking too far ahead. Get your grandfather to agree to your marriage first." The Katō family certainly wouldn't have any objections. For a small, rising clan to marry the princess of the Senju Clan, their ancestral graves would likely be exploding with joy. How could they possibly cause any trouble? Besides, Aunt and Uncle Katō were not those kinds of people.

Tsunade lowered her head, helpless. Her grandfather's impression of Dan was always hit-or-miss. When he was in a good mood, anything was fine, but when he wasn't, the topic couldn't even be mentioned. Fortunately, Big Brother Torifu was there to help, so overall, it wasn't a major issue. This matter could be negotiated slowly, as they wouldn't be getting married until next year anyway.

Torifu and Tsunade were chatting by the door, while in the room behind them, Hashirama and Tobirama were frantically searching for suitable and respectable clothing.

"Why, Big Brother? You weren't this worried even about Uchiha Madara, were you? And why do you have to drag me into this?" Tobirama complained slightly. He was over seventy years old, yet he still had to constantly obey his older brother's commands. This made him feel very helpless.

Hashirama leaned close to his ear and whispered, "Although I've always treated Naori like a daughter, she does have a father, after all. And he's coming to the gathering with her. But Torifu has been without a father since he was a child."

"As his Sensei, I have to fully assume the role of his father! Don't you even understand that?" Tobirama looked up at his older brother with new respect this time. He hadn't expected his usually dull older brother to be so perceptive today. Tobirama almost didn't recognize him.

"That may be true, but I'm not Torifu's Sensei, am I? Why are you dragging me in? I'm about to play my promotion match!"

Hashirama clapped his hands onto Tobirama's shoulders. "I represent Torifu's father, so you naturally have to represent the Senju Clan. Stop saying useless things and hurry up and find some suitable clothes."

Tobirama nodded. Since Hashirama had put it that way, refusing would be impolite. He reluctantly changed into an outfit that looked respectable but wasn't overly formal. He carefully folded the clothes he had rummaged out of the closet and put them back.

Just as the two of them finished tidying up and walked into the courtyard to get a breath of fresh air, Naori and her father arrived at the Senju Clan Compound.

The Senju Clan members had naturally heard about Torifu and Naori's engagement and knew that the Clan Matriarch was hosting guests today. But they hadn't expected the former Uchiha Clan Head to show up. However, since he was the future father-in-law of the Hokage-sama, it seemed reasonable.

"Naori-sama, Teruya-sama, the Clan Head has been waiting for a long time. Please come in quickly." The guard at the gate was a sharp observer and let them in directly without announcing them.

When they reached the entrance of Hashirama's courtyard, Torifu immediately rushed forward to greet them. "Uncle, Naori, you're here."

Teruya smiled. "Hahaha, I'm here, I'm here. I came to join the fun too." He then placed Naori's hand on Torifu's. "You two go talk. I'm going to talk with Hashirama-sama for a while."

Torifu and Naori exchanged glances and smiled. Teruya had already walked into the house.

"Hashirama-sama, Tobirama-sama, it's been a long time." Although Naori's father looked older, he was actually of a younger generation than Hashirama, on the same level as Hashirama's son. Naori's grandfather was of the same generation as Hashirama and Uchiha Madara.

"Teruya, it really has been a while. I must congratulate you today, hahaha." Hashirama pulled Teruya over to the sofa and had him sit down, then introduced him. "This is Mito's older brother, the former Clan Head of the Uzumaki Clan, Ashina."

Uchiha Teruya was slightly surprised. Mito's older brother should be older than Hashirama, yet he looked younger than himself. Although he was surprised, he maintained his manners, nodded, and greeted him as Ashina-sama. Since Ashina was not a person of Konoha, special respect wasn't required. Using the honorific was simply standard.

"Is Mito-sama still cooking? I apologize for all her trouble today."

Hashirama nodded. "Yes, she is. A table full of dishes like this takes a long time, but she was genuinely happy when she learned that Torifu and Naori were getting married. She wouldn't listen no matter how much I tried to dissuade her."

The marriage of these two young people was affecting so many people, though only they knew it for now. Once the news spread in a couple of days, the entire village of Konoha would be buzzing. They didn't know if this was a good or bad thing. The Hokage's life should be separated from his work. If they could have a quiet, simple wedding, that would be good. But the feeling of being blessed by the villagers was also quite nice. Torifu and Naori hadn't said anything, yet these old men were feeling it here.

Ultimately, everything had to be decided by Torifu and Naori. No matter what, they would support them. Teruya figured Torifu must have his own plans and arrangements. They were just sitting here chatting and voicing their thoughts.

"Oh, by the way, Hashirama-sama, if these two children really announce the news to the whole village, wouldn't the entire village want to attend their wedding?" Teruya's comment made Hashirama realize a problem he hadn't considered.

"You're right. The village currently has three or four tens of thousands of people. It's impossible for everyone to attend Torifu's wedding at the same time. There's no venue big enough to accommodate all those people." For a moment, the elders were at a loss. In addition to this, there were Konoha's security and patrol arrangements. These were all matters that needed to be considered. They wondered if Torifu had a proper solution. Otherwise, the villagers might have some complaints.
