Chapter 475 - chapter 468 chessboard

The clock struck exactly midnight, and the heavy silence surrounding their astronomical royal palace suddenly erupted into rare exhilaration. The estate worth over ten billion dollars was so massive it resembled an endless labyrinth of marble corridors, glass halls, and shadowed chambers.

For once, the lethal CIA mastermind and her dangerously possessive husband stripped away their elite facades and indulged in something almost playful: a high-stakes chase through the palace.

Holding her glasses with one hand as her cascading golden-brown hair streamed wildly behind her, Alia laughed breathlessly while running barefoot across the polished marble floors. Behind her clear frames, her vibrant blue eyes shimmered with teasing defiance.

Looking over her shoulder, she challenged him boldly.

Alia: "What's the matter, Lord Sovereign? Does your empire lack the speed to capture its own queen inside this maze? Catch me if you can."

From the darkness of the corridor, Viktor's low aristocratic chuckle echoed.

Dressed in a loose black button-down shirt, his messy white hair fell across his forehead. Beneath snowy lashes and pale brows, his frozen blue eyes narrowed with predatory amusement.

Without even breaking into a full sprint, his calculated strides closed the distance effortlessly.

Viktor: "There is no route in this world that can guide you out of my grasp, Alia. Run all you want, my love… by the end of tonight, you'll still surrender to me."

Alia rounded the glass curve beside the indoor infinity pool, her chest rising with excited breaths. But before her CIA instincts could react, Viktor suddenly appeared behind her.

His arm wrapped tightly around her waist, pulling her flush against his chest.

Leaning close enough for his lips to brush her ear, he whispered with playful authority:

Viktor: "Caught you, my queen. Now tell me… what should your punishment be for trying to escape the Sovereign?"

Far away in the central surveillance hub, Anashia watched everything unfold across the CCTV monitors.

The sight of Alia laughing in Viktor's arms ignited something dark inside him. Possessiveness twisted behind the cryptographer's eyes as a dangerous smirk slowly formed across his lips.

With a few precise commands, he launched a phantom cyber threat directly into Viktor's private military network.

Almost instantly, Viktor's secure satellite phone vibrated violently.

Pulling the device from his pocket, his expression darkened the moment the red emergency code flashed across the screen. The playful husband vanished, replaced by the cold warlord feared across borders.

Loosening his grip around Alia's waist, Viktor spoke in a reluctant icy whisper.

Viktor: "My love… there's been a breach at the Siberian border. I have to leave the country for three days."

A flicker of concern crossed Alia's face, followed by a hollow ache she couldn't explain.

Meanwhile, hidden behind the monitors, Anashia's grin widened.

For three days, the Sovereign would be gone.

And for three days, Alia would remain inside his reach.

Before leaving, Viktor pressed a possessive kiss against her forehead and lips.

Viktor: "Tell Anashia I know exactly whose encryption triggered this alert. And when I return… I'll wash this chessboard with his blood. Stay sharp, my queen."

Moments later, the Sovereign disappeared into the shadows toward the private helipad.

The second his helicopter vanished into the midnight sky, the atmosphere inside the palace changed completely.

The playful tension dissolved into something darker.

Something dangerous.

Before Alia could fully scan her surroundings, a hand suddenly clamped over her mouth from behind.

Anashia.

Alia struggled violently against his grip as her glasses tilted sideways. Her sharp blue eyes widened with fury and tactical shock.

Pinning her against the cold marble wall, Anashia leaned down near her ear.

Anashia: "For the next three days, this palace belongs to me, Alia."

Despite the dagger pressed against his ribs, he didn't flinch. In one swift movement, he disarmed her and restrained her wrists effortlessly before dragging her deeper into the palace corridors.

Inside the velvet master suite, tension thickened the air.

Alia sat on the edge of the bed, gripping the silk sheets tightly as fury and exhaustion battled inside her chest.

Then suddenly

The secure phone inside Anashia's jacket began vibrating.

The moment he answered, Viktor's calm voice filled the room from the military transport crossing the Siberian border.

Viktor: "So… the cyber breach you engineered to clear my perimeter. Is the job done, Anashia?"

Instead of fear, Anashia only smirked.

Lighting one of Viktor's expensive cigarettes, he exhaled smoke slowly before answering.

Anashia: "Yes, Lord Sovereign. Your queen and your security system are both under my control now."

For several seconds, silence filled the line.

Then Viktor laughed softly.

A dark, terrifying laugh.

Because the Sovereign already knew this game of fate would end in blood.

After the call disconnected, the room fell silent once again.

Anashia believed he had cornered the CIA mastermind completely.

But he underestimated Alia.

Slowly loosening her grip on the sheets, she looked up at him through tearful blue eyes. A dangerously beautiful smile curved across her lips.

Instead of attacking him, she stepped forward.

Pulling his jacket closer, Alia kissed him suddenly deep enough to leave him completely stunned.

The cigarette nearly slipped from Anashia's fingers.

But as she slowly pulled away, the confidence in her eyes faltered for the first time. A crimson blush spread across her cheeks as conflicting emotions overwhelmed her.

Breathless, she whispered softly:

Alia: "Go, you lunatic…"

Three days passed like a storm trapped inside silence.

Then came the return of the Sovereign.

At dawn on the third morning, military rotors thundered across the sky as Viktor's aircraft breached the palace perimeter.

The master suite doors slid open.

Standing there was Viktor Alexeyevich himself.

Cold winter air clung to his black coat while his white hair cast shadows over his pale brows. His frozen blue eyes immediately found Alia standing beside the grand windows.

Without saying a word, Viktor crossed the room in long commanding strides.

Then suddenly

He lifted her effortlessly into his arms, holding her tightly against his chest.

His devilish smirk returned as his deep voice brushed against her ear.

Viktor: "Did you really think I would leave my cage unlocked for three whole days, my love?"

His eyes darkened dangerously.

Viktor: "I'm back… and now it's time to settle the score on this chessboard."
