Chapter 495: The Plan to Ambush Shrek
Everyone nodded in agreement. After flying for some time, they finally arrived at a beach. By then, night had already fallen, and the group descended from the sky.
He Caitou took out several soul lamps, illuminating the area and driving away the darkness.
Wang Dong immediately began using her ancestral disguise technique to alter the appearances of the group. After some time, everyone had been successfully disguised.
Of course, He Caitou did not dress as a woman. Given his tall stature, dark skin, and rugged face, disguising him as a young girl would be nearly impossible and far too easy to see through.
Instead, they simply added a fake beard and a wig, making him look older. Thanks to his dark skin, he could pass as a high ranking Sun Moon noble, leveraging the empire's cultural biases not all Sun Moon nobles were fair skinned, but anyone with dark skin was undoubtedly of noble descent.
With his deep complexion, He Caitou now looked incredibly prestigious.
Moreover, due to his extensive training in the Extreme Soldier Program, he had also learned some disguise and modification techniques. As a result, he was able to help others with their disguises.
Now, dressed in luxurious black robes embroidered with intricate cloud patterns, his new fierce looking eyes and thick beard made him appear to be in his mid thirties, exuding an aura of someone not to be trifled with.
However, the ones drawing the most attention were Bei Bei and Wang Dong.
Bei Bei was now wearing a flowing white floral dress, his fake long hair cascading over his shoulders. His naturally fair skin and strikingly bright eyes gave him an undeniably delicate and feminine appearance.
Thanks to Wang Dong's ancestral disguise technique, Bei Bei actually looked like a beautiful young woman.
The newly transformed "young lady" examined herself in disbelief, rubbing her throat in amazement.
"Wang Dong, your disguise technique is incredible! My Adam's apple is completely gone!" Bei Bei marveled. "I always knew the Haotian Clan's ancestral disguises were special, but this… this is unbelievable. Though, I should probably avoid speaking too much, or people might get suspicious."
Wang Dong smiled but didn't explain further.
In reality, this technique wasn't widely taught within the Haotian Clan only her father and uncle had passed it down to her. It was something left behind by her biological father, and no one else in the clan had access to it.
Bei Bei then turned to the group and said, "Alright, everyone's probably hungry by now. Since we're near the ocean, let's catch some fish for dinner. After we eat and get some rest, we'll set out at dawn to cross the sea toward Sun Moon Empire's border city, Haiyue City."
He then turned to Elder Song for approval, as she was the leader and strongest member of the group.
Elder Song nodded. "I have no objections. Let's proceed as you suggest."
Sun Moon Empire
A Research Laboratory
Kong Deming was fully immersed in his work, studying formation arrays.
According to Huo Yuhao, now that the quality of rare metals had improved through advanced forging techniques, formation arrays needed to evolve as well. Only by doing so could the enhanced properties of these materials be fully utilized.
Of course, innovating formation arrays wasn't easy.
As a Rank 10 Soul Engineer, designing formations for lower level humanoid soul tools was relatively simple he was confident he could complete that research quickly.
However, Kong Deming had little interest in such low level formations.
He wanted to develop high level formation arrays for advanced humanoid soul tools, ones that would complement Huo Yuhao's newly developed Spirit Forged metals.
Suddenly, there was a loud knocking at the door.
Kong Deming frowned.
Who would dare disturb him when he was in the middle of research? Didn't they know that developing formation arrays required intense concentration?
If his train of thought was interrupted, it would be incredibly frustrating.
"Who is it?" he asked impatiently.
He had already decided even if it was Xuan Ziwen, his own disciple, if it wasn't something urgent, he would scold them on the spot.
A familiar voice came from outside.
"Kong Lao, I need to speak with you. Do you have a moment?"
It was Huo Yuhao.
Kong Deming's expression immediately softened, his irritation vanishing in an instant.
If it was Huo Yuhao, he always had time.
With a wide, kindly smile one that made his wrinkled face resemble a blooming chrysanthemum he walked to the door and opened it.
"Huo Yuhao, if it's you, I'm always free. What do you need?"
His tone was warm.
To Kong Deming, Huo Yuhao was incredibly important his disciple's disciple, a genius with unparalleled talent, who had repeatedly performed miracles and greatly strengthened the Sun Moon Empire.
His contributions were undeniable.
Such a person was the future of the empire.
Huo Yuhao got straight to the point.
"Kong Lao, using the Eye of Destiny, I have foreseen that Sun Moon Empire's border Soul Engineer Regiments will be ambushed by Shrek's elders.
I need you to immediately devise a counterattack plan to intercept them."
Kong Deming's expression changed instantly.
"What?!"
However, he didn't doubt Huo Yuhao's words.
Past experiences had already proven that Huo Yuhao truly had the ability to glimpse fate itself.
His face darkened.
"Huo Yuhao, how long until the attack? And how many elders are coming?"
Huo Yuhao answered, "Seven elders in total. They will launch their attack at dawn."
In truth, Huo Yuhao's prediction was based on the surveillance of the planar consciousness.
Since the Shrek elders were being tracked, he had a clear picture of their movements.
By analyzing their travel speed, he estimated the exact time they would reach the border.
No matter how secretive their actions were, they could never escape the gaze of the planar consciousness.
Kong Deming's expression eased slightly.
He had noticed that as Huo Yuhao's strength grew, his ability to predict fate also seemed to improve his forecasts had become remarkably detailed.
However, if they were to intercept these elders, he couldn't act alone.
He could fight them, but if they chose to self destruct, it would endanger the border troops.
After thinking it over, he realized they needed a preemptive strike.
They couldn't give the Shrek elders any chance to self detonate.
"…I'll need to bring the Hand of the Empire and the Guardian Legion with me," he muttered to himself.
