Elder Zheng, having hung up the phone, sat heavily on the sofa with a cane, contemplating what Bi Xia had just said. Suddenly, he tugged at the corner of his mouth in resignation, murmuring softly, "Really just as stubborn as that old fool!"
"Dad, why aren't you asleep yet?"
Zheng Wanruo knocked on the door to Elder Zheng's bedroom, then pushed it open and saw him sitting on the sofa, frowning slightly, "What time is it? Staying up this late, aren't you afraid of ending up in the hospital tomorrow!"
"Shoo!" Elder Zheng spat at Zheng Wanruo, "What kind of daughter talks to her old man like that?"
He said, proudly lifting his chin, "Besides, when have you ever seen your dad in a hospital?"
"You never used to," Zheng Wanruo sneered, leaning against the doorframe, "but now, there's no guarantee."
With a snort, Elder Zheng dismissively waved at Zheng Wanruo, "Away with you, go sleep!"
