"Duel!" x2
[Yuxuan, LP 4000]
[Bishop, LP 4000]
"Looks like the first move is mine." The Fiend Bishop gave a low snort. "My turn, draw!"
He scanned his hand before quickly pulling a card. "I activate the Spell Card, Pot of Duality! I excavate the top three cards of my Deck and add one of them to my hand. Then, the rest are shuffled back."
Yuxuan narrowed his eyes.
Is that the legendary 'QQ Pot'?
Back in the days of the Synchro and Xyz eras of the physical card game, Pot of Duality was treated almost the same as the ancient Pot of Greed it was a staple in almost every competitive deck. Although it carried the restriction that you couldn't Special Summon during the turn you used it, that was a perfectly acceptable trade-off for the game speed of that time.
In fact, Yuxuan had searched for every card with 'Pot' in its name on the market. He knew that Pot of Duality hadn't been released yet, but there had been rumors from within KaibaCorp and Industrial Illusions. It was likely a new card that hadn't been made public.
Yuxuan nodded slightly. As expected of a high-tier monster who could recognize the "spirit" of the game, this Bishop certainly looked like an elite. The cards in his hand were already far more valuable than the junk decks found elsewhere in the Bunker.
Actually, Yuxuan didn't necessarily need a Pot of Duality for his current strategy, but since it was free for the taking after the duel, having one ready wasn't a bad idea.
The Fiend Bishop drew three cards from the top of his Deck in one motion, his lips curling into a smirk. "Heh, looks like your luck isn't very good. I happened to flip over such a powerful card..."
He revealed one of the cards. "Based on the effect of Pot of Duality, I choose this powerful Trap Card, Sakuretsu Armor, to add to my hand!"
Yuxuan: "..."
Well, how to put this... it really was a "powerful" trap. In every sense of the word.
"Next, I activate the Spell Card, Pot of Greed! I draw two more cards." The Bishop drew his cards. "And now, I summon Lion Alligator!"
[Lion Alligator, ATK 1900]
"Then I'll Set two cards in the backrow. My turn ends," the Bishop declared.
Yuxuan glanced at the monster on the field. An alligator? He's not using Fiend-Type monsters...
He then remembered that this man had entered the room using a WATER spell, and all the magic he had displayed since then was primarily water-based.
"I see. A Water Mage using a WATER Attribute deck," Yuxuan noted. "Then it's my turn, draw! From my hand, I activate the Quick-Play Spell, Hand Destruction! Both players must discard two cards from their hands to the Graveyard, then draw two new cards."
The Fiend Bishop picked out two cards and discarded them, letting out a soft chuckle. "It seems your hand wasn't ideal. It's not too late to surrender now..."
Yuxuan ignored him and drew five cards in total after several interactions. "I Set five cards in the backrow. Turn end."
Fiend Bishop: "?"
Earl of Demise: "?"
No monster summoned? And a starting move of Set five? What kind of playstyle is this?
"Even after cycling through your hand, you couldn't even draw a single monster to summon?" the Fiend Bishop sneered. "So you're just a clown after all. I suppose I shouldn't have expected to encounter any real power in a place like this."
The Earl of Demise said solemnly, "Be careful. I have a feeling something is wrong with this kid."
The Earl was a recluse in the Bunker, so he hadn't seen Yuxuan's duel in the plaza earlier. However, from Yuxuan's calm attitude and the absolute confidence he displayed by passing his turn with a vacant front row after Setting five cards, he instinctively felt a sense of dread.
"Relax, Earl. He's just fodder. I can deal with this level of incompetence in a few moves," the Bishop shouted. "My turn, draw! I activate the Quick-Play Spell, Mystical Space Typhoon! First, I'll destroy one of your Set cards!"
"Then I chain to Mystical Space Typhoon!" Yuxuan countered instantly. "I activate my Face-down Trap, Card of Pandora! When the opponent activates an effect that targets a card in my Spell and Trap Zone, I can transfer that target to this card. Then, I draw two cards from my Deck!"
"What?" The Bishop frowned as he watched his Mystical Space Typhoon redirect its focus onto the Card of Pandora. Yuxuan immediately drew two cards.
"Tch, so you even have backrow protection measures..." the Fiend Bishop muttered, his expression souring. "Then I activate the Spell Card, Card of Burial Spell! By banishing three Spell Cards from my Graveyard Pot of Greed, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Pot of Duality I draw two more cards!"
Yuxuan waved his hand and flipped another card. "In that instant, I activate the Continuous Trap, Appropriate! This card is activated when the opponent draws a card outside of their Draw Phase. After that, whenever the opponent draws cards outside of their Draw Phase, I draw two cards as well."
"You want to use my own drawing effects to replenish your hand?" The Bishop scowled.
As they spoke, the images of three Spell Cards materialized and dissolved into golden sparks. The Fiend Bishop drew his two cards, followed immediately by Yuxuan drawing two.
Glancing at his new hand, the Bishop immediately revealed one of them. "Next, I activate the effect of Aqua Spirit from my hand! This card can be Special Summoned by banishing one WATER monster from my Graveyard! I banish the WATER monster I discarded due to your Hand Destruction last turn to Special Summon Aqua Spirit!"
A vortex to the Graveyard opened, and a monster card emerged only to be sucked back into the watery whirlpool. A burst of water erupted on the field, and a young girl spirit with flowing aqua-blue hair stepped gracefully through the curtain of spray.
[Aqua Spirit, ATK 1600]
The girl's eyes sparkled with a sharp light; she looked like an intelligent spirit.
Of course, Yuxuan didn't show any mercy just because it was a "waifu card." He gave a light flick of his wrist. "I open my Set card, the Trap, Denko Sekka! It allows me to negate one of the opponent's Special Summons!"
A bolt of pitch-black lightning crashed down, slamming directly into the Aqua Spirit. The spirit let out a scream, stumbled, and was blown to pieces by the dark electricity.
"Damn you... how dare you treat her like that..." the Fiend Bishop growled in anger. "Fine, then I summon Giant Red Seasnake!"
A serpent covered entirely in vivid red scales appeared, its scales arranged as tightly as armor, looking as if they had been dyed in blood. Its body was long and agile, with sharp fangs clearly visible in its gaping maw.
[Giant Red Seasnake, ATK 1800]
"If you think these simple tricks can stop my offensive, you've underestimated me," the Fiend Bishop roared. "Giant Red Seasnake, direct attack!"
Yuxuan remained calm, waving his hand slightly. "Then, I activate the Trap, Trap Hole of Spike. During the turn the opponent summons or Special Summons a monster, if that monster declares an attack, it is destroyed, and the opponent takes damage equal to half of that monster's original ATK."
Mid-charge, the Giant Red Seasnake suddenly tilted and fell into a concealed, deep pit. The bottom was lined with metal spikes, which instantly impaled the beast. The giant snake twisted violently, struggling and screaming for a moment before finally exploding.
[Fiend Bishop, LP 4000 → LP 3100]
"Ugh..." The Bishop stumbled back, gritting his teeth. "Tch, such underhanded tactics..."
He quickly straightened himself. "But my attack isn't over. I still have Lion Alligator! Direct attack!"
The alligator's head was adorned with thick, lion-like fur, and its body was covered in hard spikes, making it look like it was wearing steel armor. it lunged forward like a bolt of lightning, its short but powerful limbs leaving deep claw marks in the ground. The spikes on its body whistled through the air like sharp arrows as it ran.
In this world, summoned monsters were physical entities. The psychological pressure of being pounced upon by such a vicious beast was far greater than any regular duel.
"How terrifying... then I'll activate my Set card." Yuxuan raised his hand once more. "Trap Card, Hellfire! When the opponent declares an attack, I discard one card to destroy the attacking monster, and then inflict damage to the opponent equal to half its ATK!"
Fiend Bishop: "!?"
Again?
Hellish flames erupted from the ground, instantly incinerating the arrogant alligator into ash. The afterglow of the flames swept toward the Bishop, scorching him and making him howl in pain.
[Fiend Bishop, LP 3100 → LP 2150]
"You brat..." the Bishop snarled, his face twisted.
In a single turn, all three of his monsters had been wiped out, and his Life Points had been cut nearly in half. Yet, his opponent hadn't summoned even a single monster...
A ridiculous thought suddenly flashed through his mind.
Does this guy plan to just troll me to death?
