Victor didn't move. The pale shape remained between the trees, barely visible through the gaps in the branches, but the eyes were clear enough. They were fixed directly on him, completely still, as though the creature had no interest in the soldiers or the other students. The golden warning remained in front of his vision for another few seconds before fading away.
[Do not engage.]
Victor had no intention of ignoring it. The system rarely explained itself, but whenever it issued a direct warning, there was usually a reason behind it. He had no idea what was hiding in the forest, and that was exactly why he wasn't going to be stupid enough to approach it.
"Victor!"
Caleb's voice pulled him back. He turned and found Caleb several steps away, looking at him strangely.
"You coming?"
Victor glanced toward the trees one last time before turning away. "Yeah."
