Chapter 8: Wedding Planning Saga I; meeting the Parents
The morning after the proposal, Caulifla found herself standing before the gates of what could only be described as a pocket dimension of Arkynorean architecture nestled in the mountains near Mount Paozu. Crystal spires rose organically from the earth, their surfaces catching the early morning light and refracting it in patterns that made her eyes water if she looked too long.
"Your people really don't do subtle, do they?" she remarked to Odyn, trying to mask her nervousness with her usual bravado. The pendant around her neck pulsed warmly, as if sensing her unease.
Odyn squeezed her hand, his own markings glowing with a mix of excitement and anticipation. "Father insisted on maintaining certain... traditional aspects when we relocated to Earth. Though I should warn you, Mother may have gone a bit overboard with the welcome ceremony."
"Ceremony? Wait, what ceremony? You didn't say anything about—"
Before she could finish, the crystal gates swung open silently, revealing a pathway lined with Arkynoreans in formal attire, their own bio-luminescent markings creating an ethereal display of synchronized light patterns. At the end of the path stood three figures: a tall, regal man whose markings bore a striking resemblance to Odyn's but spread across his face in more elaborate patterns; a graceful woman whose own markings seemed to flow like water; and between them, a younger Arkynorean who could only be Odyn's sister.
"My son," High King Berethon's voice carried easily across the distance, each word seeming to resonate with the crystal structures around them. "You return to us with joyous news."
Caulifla felt Odyn straighten beside her. "Father, Mother, Sister. I present to you Caulifla of Universe 6, warrior of the Saiyan race, and my chosen mate."
High Queen Hyuuan stepped forward first, her movements fluid and precise. Her markings shifted through various colors before settling on a warm gold that matched Caulifla's pendant. "The pendant responds to her ki," she observed, her voice carrying notes that seemed to harmonize with the crystals around them. "It has never done so for any non-Arkynorean before."
"Yeah, well," Caulifla found herself saying, her Saiyan pride overtaking her momentary uncertainty, "I'm not just any non-Arkynorean. I'm the strongest female Saiyan in Universe 6!"
There was a moment of absolute silence, during which Odyn seemed to hold his breath. Then, to everyone's surprise, High King Berethon laughed – a deep, resonant sound that set the crystal spires humming.
"Indeed you are not," he agreed, his stern features softening. "We watched your battles in the Tournament of Power. Your strength and determination honor our house." He extended his hands, palms up, revealing markings that spiraled down his arms. "Welcome, Caulifla of Universe 6, to the House of Light."
Odyn's sister – who introduced herself as Lyra – broke all protocol by rushing forward and embracing Caulifla. "Finally!" she exclaimed. "Someone else who can tell my brother when he's being too serious!"
"Lyra," Queen Hyuuan chided gently, though her markings flickered with amusement. "Though she's not wrong," she added to Caulifla in a stage whisper that set the gathered Arkynoreans chuckling.
As the formal welcome dissolved into a more relaxed gathering, Caulifla found herself surrounded by curious Arkynoreans, many of whom had questions about Saiyan culture and fighting techniques. She noticed with interest how they had adapted their traditional ways to Earth life – crystal architecture blending seamlessly with mountain stone, formal robes paired with casual Earth clothing, and more than a few mentions of friendly relations with their neighbor, the Ox King.
"Your father seems less... intense than I expected," she mentioned to Odyn later, as they watched a group of young Arkynoreans demonstrating their energy manipulation techniques for some visiting humans from the nearby village.
"The Earth has changed us all," Odyn replied, his markings pulsing contentedly. "Father says the relaxed atmosphere here reminds him of Arkynor before..." he trailed off, then smiled. "But that's a story for another time. Right now, I believe Mother wants to show you the traditional bonding robes she's been adapting for a Saiyan physique."
"The what now?"
"Don't worry," he assured her with a suspiciously straight face, "they're completely battle-compatible."
As Caulifla was led away by an enthusiastic Queen Hyuuan and an equally excited Lyra, she caught sight of King Berethon and Odyn speaking quietly by one of the crystal spires. The King placed a hand on his son's shoulder, his markings glowing with what could only be described as pride, while nearby crystals chimed softly in harmony with their shared joy.
"Now," Queen Hyuuan was saying, "about the ceremonial light-weaving patterns for the wedding..."
Caulifla groaned internally but couldn't help smiling. She'd faced universal destruction with less trepidation than these wedding preparations, but somehow, surrounded by the warmth of her new family's accepting glow, she found she didn't mind at all.
The formal atmosphere began to shift as familiar faces arrived. Caulifla felt her shoulders relax at the sight of Roy – or Thallion, as his family called him – striding through the crystal gates with his characteristic easy smile. Beside him, Sarai was trying to maintain the proper Arkynorean dignity while simultaneously keeping an eye on an enthusiastic Go-Ten, who was darting from crystal to crystal with unbridled amazement.
"This is so cool!" Go-Ten exclaimed, his eyes wide as he pressed his face against a particularly large crystal formation. "Sarai, your house is amazing!"
Khanna, known as Seraphina among her people, caught Caulifla's eye and gave her a knowing wink. As Odyn's elder cousin, she had already mastered the art of balancing Arkynorean formality with a more relaxed Earth-influenced demeanor.
"And here I thought I was the only one who found all this ceremony a bit overwhelming at first," Khanna whispered to Caulifla, her markings flickering with amusement.
Lyra, never one to miss an opportunity for mischief, sidled up to her twin sister Sarai. "Speaking of overwhelming," she sing-songed, "isn't it interesting how often Go-Ten finds reasons to visit? And how you always seem to be available to show him around?"
Sarai's markings flashed a tell-tale pink as she sputtered, "He's just curious about our culture! And father says it's important to maintain good relations with our neighbors and—"
"Oh yes, very important relations," Lyra teased, causing Roy to burst out laughing.
Their banter was interrupted by the arrival of what seemed like half of Earth's defenders. Goku appeared with his instant transmission technique, one hand on Gohan's shoulder while Videl held baby Pan securely. The infant seemed fascinated by the light display, reaching out with tiny hands toward the glowing crystals.
"Sorry for the crowd," Gohan called out to King Berethon and Queen Hyuuan, looking slightly embarrassed. "Dad got excited when he heard there might be food at this gathering..."
"The more the merrier!" Goku added cheerfully, already eyeing the refreshment tables that had been set up in the crystal garden.
Behind them came a steady stream of familiar faces – Krillin and 18 with their daughter Marron, Tien, Yamcha, Bulma dragging a reluctant-looking Vegeta, and even Piccolo, who found himself a quiet corner from which to observe the proceedings.
Queen Hyuuan's markings rippled with delight at the growing gathering. "This is perfect! Now we can demonstrate the traditional Arkynorean welcome dance for everyone!"
"The what now?" Caulifla and Goku asked simultaneously, while Vegeta muttered something that sounded suspiciously like "I did not agree to any dancing."
"Oh yes," Lyra chimed in with far too much enthusiasm, "and since you're marrying into the family, Caulifla, you'll need to learn it too! Sarai, why don't you show her the steps? Go-Ten can be your partner for the demonstration..."
Sarai's markings flashed pink again as Go-Ten perked up. "I want to learn the dance too!"
"Now this I have to see," Khanna murmured, settling in to watch what promised to be a highly entertaining cultural exchange.
As Caulifla found herself being pulled into what appeared to be an increasingly complicated dance lesson, she caught sight of Odyn trying to suppress his laughter. His markings were pulsing with pure joy as he watched his worlds – both old and new – blend together in this beautifully chaotic moment.
"Don't think you're getting out of this," she called to him. "If I have to learn this dance, so do you!"
"As my future wife commands," he replied with a formal bow that was somewhat undermined by his barely contained grin.
Around them, the crystal spires hummed with the combined energy of Arkynorean light and the warm ki of Earth's warriors, creating a symphony that seemed to celebrate the union of not just two people, but two cultures, two universes, and two families becoming one.
The joyful chaos of the dance gradually settled as King Berethon raised his hand, his markings pulsing with a commanding presence that immediately drew all eyes. The crystal spires seemed to dim slightly, creating a natural spotlight on the gathering.
"My people," his voice resonated through the courtyard, "I call forth Elder Randolph, whose Gift of Sight has long guided our people."
A dignified figure in flowing silver robes stepped forward, his hair matching the crystalline sheen of his garments. His markings held the subtle, complex patterns that came only with great age and wisdom. His warm smile, however, held nothing of the stern formality one might expect from such an august figure.
"Odyn, Caulifla," he called, his voice gentle but carrying. "Please step forward."
As they moved to the center of the gathering, Caulifla caught Bulma and Chi-Chi exchanging confused looks. She shared their bewilderment – this was clearly something significant, but no one had mentioned...
"Wait," Chi-Chi whispered to Bulma, loud enough for nearby ears to catch, "they knew this was coming?"
"Remember, young one," Randolph spoke, his eyes twinkling as if he'd heard Chi-Chi's question, "when I first spoke to you of a warrior wreathed in golden flame, whose strength would match your own?"
Odyn's markings pulsed with recognition as Caulifla looked at him in surprise. Around them, a circle formed – Berethon and Hyuuan, their regal presence anchoring the ceremony; Lailah, her warrior's stance softened by the joy in her markings as she stood beside her husband Raptaryn; Commander Sybyrh, whose usually stern countenance had given way to rare smile; Roy, Sarai, and Lyra, their markings synchronized in a display of sibling unity.
"Years ago," Randolph continued, addressing not just the couple but all assembled, "I was blessed with a vision of this moment. I saw a bridge between universes, formed not by cosmic power or divine decree, but by the simplest and yet most powerful force – love."
Bulma's eyes widened. "They've been planning for this since before they even met?"
"The Gift of Sight," Lailah explained softly to the Earth visitors, "is rare among our people. When such visions come, we heed them."
Commander Sybyrh stepped forward, his ceremonial armor catching the crystal light. "We watched as our prince found himself drawn to the Tournament of Power broadcasts, though he knew not why at the time." His serious expression cracked slightly. "Some of us may have placed friendly wagers on how long it would take him to realize."
"You what?" Caulifla blurted, while Odyn looked mortified.
Queen Hyuuan's melodic laughter broke through the formality. "My son has many gifts, but swift recognition of his own heart's desires is not among them."
"Mother!" Odyn protested, his markings flickering with embarrassment as Roy and his sisters failed to suppress their snickers.
Raptaryn, ever the voice of diplomatic reason, stepped in. "Perhaps we should proceed with the blessing?"
Randolph nodded, raising his hands. The assembled Arkynoreans moved in perfect synchronization, forming a circle around the couple. Their markings began to pulse in harmony, creating a light show that had baby Pan cooing in delight from Videl's arms.
"Wait," Bulma whispered to Chi-Chi, "is this why they were so insistent on getting Caulifla invited to all those gatherings at Capsule Corp?"
"And why Goku kept getting those 'spontaneous' requests for joint training sessions?" Chi-Chi added, shooting a look at her husband, who was attempting to look innocent and failing miserably.
"You knew?" Bulma demanded of Goku.
"Heh heh," Goku rubbed the back of his head. "Well, King Berethon might have mentioned something about destiny and training partnerships..."
"WHAT?!" Caulifla's exclamation cut through the ceremonial atmosphere. "You mean everyone was in on this except me?"
"Not everyone," Odyn assured her quickly. "I had no idea until..." he trailed off as he realized this wasn't helping his case.
Randolph's warm chuckle drew their attention back to the ceremony. "The path of destiny is best walked unknowing," he said kindly. "Your hearts found each other naturally, as was meant to be. We merely... ensured there were sufficient opportunities for paths to cross."
As the blessing ceremony continued, with ancient words spoken in the Arkynorean tongue and light flowing between the gathered family members to encompass the couple, Caulifla leaned closer to Odyn.
"We're going to have a long talk about this later," she whispered.
"I look forward to it," he replied softly, his markings pulsing with affection. "Though in my defense, I was apparently the last to know about my own destiny."
"As usual, brother," Lyra chimed in cheerfully, earning herself a gentle elbow from Sarai.
The crystal spires hummed in harmony with the blessing, and even Caulifla's mock indignation couldn't withstand the wave of love and acceptance flowing through the gathered assembly. Though, she noted with amusement, she wasn't the only one processing revelations – Bulma was already grilling a very nervous-looking Goku about exactly how long he'd been helping with this "destined match-making scheme," while Chi-Chi alternated between shushing her and demanding answers of her own.
The moment the final words of blessing faded, it was as if a dam broke. The gathered Arkynoreans erupted in a celebration that had clearly been years in the waiting, their markings creating a spectacular light show that made the crystal spires sing with resonant energy. The formal restraint that had characterized their previous interactions with Earth's defenders melted away like morning frost in the sun.
"Finally!" Commander Sybyrh exclaimed, her usually stern demeanor giving way to genuine joy. Her brothers Valvahderyn, Xander, and Calibern gathered around her, all wearing matching expressions of relief and celebration.
"Do you know how hard it was to keep this quiet?" Xander asked, his markings flickering with mirth. "Every time we saw you two together at training sessions..."
"Or diplomatic meetings," Calibern added with a grin.
"Or 'accidental' encounters at Capsule Corp," Valvahderyn chimed in, making air quotes with his fingers – a distinctly Earth gesture that looked amusingly out of place with his formal Arkynorean attire.
The Z fighters watched in amazement as their normally reserved Arkynorean neighbors transformed before their eyes, sharing stories and jokes with an openness they'd never displayed before. The crystalline city itself seemed to pulse with renewed energy, as if reflecting its people's joy at no longer needing to maintain such careful restraint.
"Wait a minute," Krillin said, putting the pieces together. "Is this why you all chose to settle so close to us? You knew this was coming?"
"Of course!" several Arkynoreans responded in unison, then broke into laughter at the stunned expressions on their Earth friends' faces.
Vegeta, who had been quietly observing until now, actually cracked a smile. "And here I thought Saiyans were the only ones who could keep a secret when we needed to."
"Oh please," Bulma retorted, "you didn't know either!"
"I... had my suspicions," Vegeta claimed, though his slight flush suggested otherwise.
At the center of it all, Caulifla looked around at the celebrating crowd, then back at Odyn. "Your people... they've been waiting for this? For us?"
Odyn's markings pulsed with warmth as he explained, "For generations, our people have lived in careful seclusion, protecting our knowledge and traditions. But the prophecy spoke of a time when we would emerge from hiding, when the barriers between worlds would begin to fade." He gestured to the pendant around her neck. "This union is more than just us, Caulifla. It's a sign to our people that it's time to step into the light again."
"No pressure or anything," she quipped, but her voice was soft with understanding.
Around them, the celebration continued to grow. Young Arkynoreans were teaching their Earth friends traditional dances without the formal ceremony of before, crystal craftsmen were proudly displaying their work to an amazed Bulma and interested Gohan, and someone had convinced Goku to try traditional Arkynorean cuisine (though they'd wisely prepared Earth-sized portions).
Go-Ten had somehow ended up in an impromptu sparring match with several young Arkynoreans, with Sarai "officiating" – though she seemed more interested in watching Go-Ten than actually keeping score. Lyra's knowing smirk suggested this would provide material for many future episodes of sisterly teasing.
"You know," Caulifla said to Odyn as they watched their families truly intermingle for the first time, "I should probably be angry about being the last to know about all this."
"But?"
"But looking at how happy everyone is..." she gestured to where Commander Sybyrh was actually laughing at something Krillin had said, while nearby, Roy was teaching Marron how to make the crystals chime with different touches. "I guess some secrets are worth keeping. Though," she added with a characteristic grin, "don't think this means you're off the hook for not figuring it out sooner yourself."
"I look forward to making it up to you," Odyn replied, his markings pulsing with promise. "We have all the time in the universes."
Above them, the crystal spires sang with joy, their light reaching up toward the sky like beacons announcing to both universes that a new chapter had begun – not just for two people in love, but for an entire civilization ready to emerge from the shadows and into a brighter future.
Queen Hyuuan's markings rippled with maternal delight as she observed the interactions around her, particularly focusing on her youngest daughter Sarai and Son Go-Ten. The two teenagers were attempting to maintain a casual conversation while simultaneously trying to pretend they weren't hyperaware of each other's presence.
"You know," Lyra stage-whispered to her twin, loud enough for nearby ears to catch, "most people actually have to talk to each other to start dating."
"Lyra!" Sarai's markings flashed brilliant pink. "We're just friends!"
"Uh-huh," Lyra grinned, watching as Go-Ten nearly walked into a crystal formation because he was too busy watching Sarai's flustered reaction. "Very good friends who can't keep their eyes off each other."
Chi-Chi, who had drifted closer to listen, couldn't suppress her smile. Her youngest son's awkward attempts at casual conversation reminded her so much of Goku in their early days – though perhaps with a bit more awareness than her husband had shown. "They remind me of Gohan and Videl at that age," she confided to Hyuuan. "All that potential, and neither one willing to make the first move."
Nearby, Trunks watched the scene unfold with knowing amusement, occasionally catching Mai's eye across the gathering. She gave him a subtle nod – she'd noticed it too. The signs were all there: the lingering glances, the way Go-Ten kept finding reasons to demonstrate new fighting techniques to Sarai, how Sarai's markings would pulse just a little brighter whenever he laughed.
In a quieter corner of the celebration, an unexpected conversation was taking place. Piccolo, who usually kept to himself at such gatherings, found himself engaged in what appeared to be an intense discussion with Commander Sybyrh. Their serious expressions occasionally broke into slight smiles, suggesting a meeting of like minds.
"Never thought I'd see that," Krillin muttered to 18. "What do you think they're talking about?"
"Training techniques," 18 replied confidently. "I overheard something about meditation and ki control. Apparently, some Arkynorean military practices align closely with Namekian traditions."
Not far from them, another surprising pair had formed. Tien found himself captivated by Hailfire's descriptions of Arkynorean combat techniques. The dark-elven Arkynorean's unique approach to energy manipulation seemed to particularly interest him, and their discussion had drawn a small crowd of curious onlookers.
"The third eye actually enhances ki perception?" Hailfire was asking, her own markings showing fascination. "That's remarkably similar to our light-sensing abilities."
Perhaps the least surprising interaction, yet one of the most animated, was taking place between Goku and King Berethon. The Saiyan warrior and Arkynorean king had found common ground discussing battle strategies and training methods, their enthusiasm drawing amused looks from their respective spouses.
"They're exactly alike, aren't they?" Bulma observed to Hyuuan and Lailah as they watched Chi-Chi try to prevent Goku from challenging Berethon to a friendly spar right then and there.
"More than they realize," Lailah agreed, her warrior's stance relaxing as she shared a knowing look with her sister. "Though Berethon at least usually remembers to attend formal functions without being reminded."
"Usually," Hyuuan emphasized with a fond eye-roll that made both Earth women laugh in recognition.
The crystal spires hummed with the energy of all these new connections forming, these bridges being built person by person. Where once there had been careful distance between their communities, now there was warmth and growing understanding. Even Vegeta, still maintaining his aloof stance at the edge of the gathering, was nodding along to something Roy was explaining about energy resonance in crystal structures.
At the center of it all, Odyn and Caulifla watched their families and friends finding their own unexpected connections. Their union had opened a door, but their people were the ones choosing to walk through it, building relationships that would strengthen both communities.
"Look at that," Caulifla nudged Odyn, pointing to where Go-Ten had finally worked up the courage to ask Sarai to demonstrate some Arkynorean light-weaving techniques. "Should we warn them about prophecies and destiny?"
Odyn's markings pulsed with amusement. "I think some things are better left to develop naturally. Though perhaps we should warn Go-Ten about Lyra's teasing – that, at least, is definitely in his future."
Their laughter joined the symphony of joy and connection that filled the crystal city, a promise of more surprises and unions to come.
The celebratory atmosphere shifted into stunned silence when Lailah introduced her husband "Raptaryn" to the Z fighters. Goku's usual cheerful expression froze, his eyes widening as he studied the familiar features beneath the Arkynorean markings.
"Turles?" he whispered, dropping into a defensive stance out of pure instinct.
"Brother," Raptaryn/Turles acknowledged, his markings pulsing with a calm that was worlds apart from the ruthless space pirate they'd once known. "I understand this must be... quite a shock."
"That's putting it mildly," Krillin muttered, while Gohan stepped protectively closer to Videl and Pan.
Lailah's hand found her husband's, their markings synchronizing in a display of unity. "Perhaps I should explain," she began, her voice gentle but firm. "Though the full story would take days to tell properly..."
The condensed version, as it turned out, was remarkable enough. A failed Arkynorean resurrection experiment had somehow pulled Turles back from the dead. But the process had changed him, integrated him with their people in unexpected ways. The man who emerged was neither fully the old Turles nor entirely new – but someone who had been given a rare second chance at life, and had chosen to embrace it fully.
"And Raditz?" Goku asked, his stance relaxing slightly as he processed this information. "You said he's alive too?"
Turles – or Raptaryn, as he clearly preferred now – nodded. "My brother... your brother... he underwent a similar transformation, though through different means. He's been living quietly on Earth for years now, with his wife Launch and their children."
"LAUNCH?!" multiple voices exclaimed at once.
"Well, that explains a few things about their kids," Bulma mused. "Especially Raunch's... explosive personality."
"The twins aren't much better," Khanna added with a fond smile, speaking of her cousins. "Daikon and Muli can be quite a handful when they get going. Though I suppose that's the Saiyan-Launch combination for you."
Gohan was doing rapid mental calculations. "So... I have cousins? Go-Ten has cousins?" He looked at his father. "We have a whole extended family we didn't know about?"
"Three of them, to be exact," Raptaryn confirmed. "Raunch's got Launch's changing hair color but Raditz's attitude. The twins... well, let's just say they inherited both their mother's personalities and their father's Saiyan energy."
Chi-Chi looked like she was having trouble deciding whether to be excited about more family or concerned about the implications. "And where exactly has Raditz been all this time?"
"Living in the mountains, actually," Raptaryn replied. "Not far from here. Launch's... unique condition made them prefer a quiet life away from cities. Though I suspect they'll be joining us soon – Launch has a sixth sense for gatherings like this, in either form."
As if on cue, there was a commotion at the entrance to the crystal city. A familiar voice could be heard sneezing, followed by the sound of rapid-fire questions being asked in a much more aggressive tone.
"Speak of the devil," Khanna murmured, her markings flickering with amusement.
The crowd parted to reveal a sight few had ever expected to see: Raditz, his wild hair somewhat tamed and sporting casual Earth clothes, trying to coral two energetic boys who looked like miniature versions of himself while a purple-haired teenager who could only be Raunch followed behind with Launch, who was currently in her blonde, feistier form.
"Sorry we're late!" Launch called out, before another sneeze transformed her back to her gentler blue-haired self. "Oh my, what a lovely gathering!"
The Z fighters watched in amazement as Raditz – the same Raditz who had once been their fearsome enemy – expertly caught one of the twins mid-air as the boy attempted to use his father as a springboard to reach a high crystal formation.
"Daikon, what did we say about flying in the crystal city?" he scolded, though there was clear affection in his voice.
"But Dad, Muli started it!" the boy protested, while his twin attempted to look innocent.
Goku's face split into his characteristic wide grin as the initial shock wore off. "Well, this is great! The more family the better, right Chi-Chi?"
Chi-Chi looked between her suddenly expanded family – from her new Saiyan nephews to her Arkynorean in-laws – and couldn't help but laugh. "At this rate, we're going to need a bigger house for family gatherings."
"Or a crystal palace," Bulma suggested with a wink at Queen Hyuuan, who was already nodding enthusiastically at the idea.
The revelation had shifted the celebration's energy, but not dampened it. If anything, the unexpected family connections added another layer of joy to the occasion. After all, on a day dedicated to bringing universes together, discovering that their families were already more connected than they'd known seemed somehow fitting.
The crystal city's glow softened as evening settled over Mount Paozu, the spires now emitting a gentle luminescence that rivaled the emerging stars. One by one, the expanded family began their farewells. Raditz's twins had finally exhausted themselves, each tucked under one of their father's arms while Launch (currently in her gentle form) guided a sleepy but still chattering Raunch toward home.
"Still can't believe my brother's a family man now," Goku mused, watching them leave. "Never thought I'd see the day."
As the gathering dispersed, Go-Ten lingered near the crystal gates, trying not to be obvious about watching Sarai. She caught his eye and offered a small wave, her markings pulsing with a soft, warm light.
"I'll see you around?" he asked, trying to sound casual.
"Of course," she replied, her markings betraying her excitement even as she maintained her composure. "Someone has to help you practice those Arkynorean meditation techniques."
"Right, the meditation," Go-Ten agreed quickly, ignoring Lyra's knowing smirk behind her sister's back.
Near Goku's house, Odyn and Caulifla found a moment alone beneath the starlit sky. The pendant around her neck glowed softly, responding to their proximity as they faced each other.
"It seems strange," Caulifla admitted, her usual bravado softening in the private moment, "being apart tonight after everything that's happened today."
Odyn's markings pulsed with affection as he reached out to trace the pendant's edge. "Think of it as our last night of anticipation," he suggested, his voice low and warm. "Tomorrow begins our forever."
"That was incredibly cheesy," she teased, but her smile betrayed her. Rising on her toes, she pulled him down for a kiss that made his markings flash brilliantly in the darkness. "But I liked it anyway."
From the direction of Goku's house, Chi-Chi's voice called out: "Odyn! I've got your room ready!"
From the other direction, Bulma added: "Caulifla! The hover-car's waiting!"
They shared one final, lingering kiss before reluctantly separating. As Caulifla walked toward the waiting hover-car, she called back over her shoulder, "Don't get too comfortable in Gohan's old room. We'll need to find our own place soon."
"Already have some ideas about that," Odyn replied mysteriously, his markings flickering with promise.
Above them, the stars of Universe 7 twinkled brightly, while somewhere across the dimensional barriers, Universe 6's stars seemed to shine in response. In the crystal city below, the spires hummed a soft, peaceful melody as if singing a lullaby to the departing guests.
Tomorrow would bring new adventures, new challenges, and the beginning of their shared life. But for tonight, they carried the warmth of the day's celebrations and the promise of their future in their hearts, even as they went their separate ways to rest.
As Caulifla settled into the hover-car next to Bulma, she caught one last glimpse of Odyn standing in the starlight, his markings still pulsing with the rhythm of their farewell kiss. The pendant around her neck gave an answering pulse of warmth, as if reminding her that distance was merely temporary for hearts so thoroughly intertwined.
