Chapter 140 - Chapter 140: VS Black Dragon ll

Roar!

The black dragon let out a thunderous roar that shook the entire island, the sheer force of its voice causing the very air to tremble. Its glowing crimson eyes locked onto the largest concentration of magical energy on the island—Saikai Academy—where Asagi and Natsuki, along with Reina and Moegi, were located.

Though it wasn't the strongest source of magic on the island, even this mindless Magical Beast could sense a far greater threat emanating from elsewhere—something that seemed to threaten its very existence. Driven by primal instinct, it abandoned its initial course and turned toward the academy, hoping that reaching it would provide some slim chance of survival.

Because the true source of the island's greatest magical output was none other than Kojou himself—who at that very moment was wandering the island with Tsurara, Mira, and Satsuki, showing a rare side of himself… the side of a father enjoying peaceful time with his daughters, far away from bloodshed or battle.

But the moment the dragon arrived near the academy, everything changed.

In an instant, the space around it collapsed and transformed into a sealed sub-dimension—one where no one existed except the beast… and the four women standing before it, calm in a way that didn't match the magnitude of the threat before them.

Not a trace of fear appeared on any of their faces, as though a mountain-sized black dragon was nothing more than an inconvenience.

Suddenly, a silver mist began to gather at the center of the courtyard, swirling upon itself until it formed a soft vortex of light and shadow.

As the glow faded, Kojou emerged from the mist, causing all four pairs of eyes to widen in pure surprise.

But the sight before them was… not what they had expected.

Kojou was carrying Satsuki in his arms—the little girl smiling innocently, holding a colorful balloon.

Beside him, Mira stood quietly, smiling as she held a stack of freshly printed instant photos from a photo booth.

And Tsurara—though her expression remained as cold as ever—had eyes shimmering faintly with emotion as she gazed at the silver ring with a blue gem adorning her finger—an unmistakable gift from Kojou.

Kojou himself looked a bit disheveled; his hair was tousled, and his clothes bore the marks of a long day.

Yet behind it all was a pure, unguarded smile—the kind only someone who'd found a fleeting moment of peace in a life full of chaos could show.

He looked—for just that moment—like a happy father with his family.

But that quiet moment didn't last.

Another roar shattered the silence, making the ground shake and the sky crack open above them.

The dragon's eyes burned with dark fire as they locked onto Kojou—instinct screaming that this man was not human… but a threat beyond comprehension.

Only then did Kojou raise his head, his calm eyes meeting the beast's, and he spoke in a voice barely above a whisper—yet heavy with boredom:

"So much for a quiet day… Figures."

Roar!

A primal howl ripped through the sealed space—a roar unlike anything the dragon had ever heard.

It wasn't coming from its own blazing throat—but from the heavens above, from a source bathing the sky in blinding golden light.

In a flash, the stormy magical clouds were torn open, and from within emerged a massive lion, its body crackling with golden lightning dancing like a living celestial current.

Its eyes gleamed with divine authority, and its thunderous voice made both earth and air vibrate in unison.

It looked less like a beast—and more like the embodiment of heavenly wrath.

And behind it was Kojou, standing in stillness, eyes half-open as if still holding onto the mood of his peaceful day despite the chaos around him.

Magic winds surged, tossing his hair and coat like they belonged to another world. Satsuki still slept soundly in his arms, unaware that the world was moments away from obliteration.

Mira and Tsurara had retreated a few steps—not in fear, but out of respect.

For they knew: the lightning-clad golden lion wasn't a separate being…

It was one of the Twelve Avatars of Destruction—one of Kojou's loyal familiars.

Lightning surged from between the lion's fangs, followed by a torrent of thunder that raced toward the black dragon in a straight, merciless line.

Each pulse of lightning made the very fabric of reality groan, as if refusing to contain a clash of power on this scale.

The dragon roared and unleashed a wave of corrupt dark energy, turning the air to ash—its breath met the blazing lightning head-on.

The sky erupted as if a star had been born.

Boom!

A colossal explosion split the sealed dimension, the echo sounding like the world itself was breaking.

The corruption unleashed by the dragon was given no chance to resist—the golden lightning surged like an unrelenting storm, swallowing it completely until not even a shadow remained.

And in the span of a heartbeat, the light consumed everything.

The dragon's massive body began to disintegrate from the edges, its dark scales dissolving one by one, until its form shattered into drifting black mist—vanishing as if it had never existed.

The very air trembled… then fell silent—like the entire realm had let out a breath after a long moment of shock.

In the midst of that sacred silence stood Kojou, still unmoved, hair drifting amid the fading sparks, a faint, wry smile curving his lips—a mix of amusement and indifference.

"K...Kojou-kun!! Watch out!"

Moegi's voice suddenly tore through the quiet, trembling with panic as she pointed toward the sky, eyes wide.

"That dragon… it's connected to the Dragon Vein that powers the island's magic! It'll keep regenerating—over and over—as long as the magic stream keeps flowing!"

At that moment, the golden light faded away, replaced by a dark shimmer pulsing from the torn clouds.

Magic gathered from every direction—pure strands of energy torn from both earth and sky, converging toward a single point—the remnants of the dragon's black mist.

Suddenly, the space shuddered as though it had cracked from within, and lines of distorted light twisted unnaturally through the air.

In an instant, the dragon's tail vanished—and reappeared behind Moegi, lashing forward with devastating speed toward her chest—its intent unmistakable: destroy her heart.

But—

Before it could reach her, a radiant hexagonal barrier of pure light snapped into existence, radiating an ethereal glow like celestial diamond.

The tail slammed into it with an earth-shaking impact, rattling the entire dimension—but not even slightly cracking the shield.

It was Mesarthim-Adamas—the power Asagi had unleashed to protect her daughter from the future, without the slightest hesitation.

Asagi stood her ground, her silver hair whipping behind her from the magical storm, her eyes glowing with sharp blue light as she spoke calmly and low:

"Not even my dying breath… will you touch her. Understood?"

But her voice was drowned out by another roar.

Roar!

The black dragon's voice rose from somewhere beyond the sky, its fury crashing against the boundaries of the sealed space, nearly tearing them.

The rage was palpable—how could a mere human barrier withstand his wrath?

Yet the answer came from a voice far colder—far heavier.

"You're dead, you bastard."

Kojou's words came out in a tone devoid of hesitation—cold, emotionless—but radiating immeasurable pressure.

As he spoke, his eyes began to change—the crimson fading into a deep, luminous violet, glowing like twin flames of sin and beauty.

They were the Magic Eyes of Mauve—eyes that erased the very identity of anything they gazed upon.

He lifted his head slightly, his calm gaze locking onto the dragon's burning eyes.

In that moment, everything stopped—wind, thunder, even the pulse of magic.

Then, in a voice soft enough to be a sigh, he said:

"Disappear."

The dragon's body cracked from within, devoured by light—then shattered into scattering black ash, leaving behind only empty, silent air.

As silence returned once more, Kojou's power slowly receded, and his eyes returned to their usual calm.

At that moment, there was no fury in his gaze—no divine weight.

Only the look of a man who had just seen danger draw near to his family.

His hands remained steady, though the air still boiled with unleashing destructive magic. Even his voice—when he spoke—was calm in a way that was terrifying… the calm of someone who couldn't tolerate even a scratch on his loved ones.

He wasn't acting like a hero or an immortal vampire.

He was simply a father—a father who saw his daughters in harm's way, and everything else faded to nothing.

Inside him, an ancient spark ignited—not born from rage, but from a primal love that cannot be contained—the kind of love that makes a man fight the entire world just to keep his family safe.

The way he looked at his daughters and the women beside him carried something beyond words—a quiet promise that nothing—not dragon nor destiny—would ever touch them as long as he still drew breath.
