When Chu Jing and Xiao Mu returned to the party hall, the atmosphere had already changed.
The earlier elegance and light chatter had been replaced by a strange stillness, as if everyone was waiting for something to happen. Their eyes instinctively turned toward the stage, and what they saw made both of them pause.

He leaned closer to Chu Jing and spoke in a low voice, "Is he the outstanding man your grandfather chose for you?"
Chu Jing's expression stiffened. She stared at the stage, her throat moving slightly as she swallowed.
"Surely not… right?"
Even as she said it, her voice lacked confidence.
