Pretending to be puzzled, Isaac raised his eyebrows and asked, "Darcy, you don't like the jewelry and bags that I gave you?"
Darcy was enraged. She tried to calm down by taking a deep breath. She wanted to maintain her dignified and gentle image in front of the Yancey family.
"Isaac, I'll return all the gifts that you gave me. Please don't spread rumors intentionally, or I'll be really angry," she said.
Amused by her words, Isaac shrugged and joked, "Darcy, you look cute when you're angry."
Darcy was dumbfounded.
She felt helpless because he wasn't affected by what she said at all.
"Darcy, come and sit next to me." Christine smiled. "Isaac is trying to be kind. He means nothing else."
With tears welling up in her eyes, Darcy said, "Old Mrs. Yancey, he has gone too far."
