Chapter 165 - Chapter 47: Knights, Lovers, and Great-Granddaughters

Rider's POV

After hearing my master's orders, I ran as fast as I could to where, as far as I remembered, the young man killed by Dante had been.

I had a feeling of unease, but despite that, I followed the instructions, since my master was strong enough to face almost anything, not to mention that he still had two Command Seals that he told me to use in case of emergency.

When I arrived at the specified location, I only saw a nearly dry pool of blood, which was strange, but there was no sign of the master and his Servant or the young man.

This gave me no certainty; I didn't know if they had taken the body, left it raw, or burned it; I only sensed a manna in the surroundings, indicating that sorcery had been used.

I had no way to track mana, so I had no other option but to search all of Fuyuki to find either of them in the hypothetical case that the redhead was still alive.

Then, he jumped from house to house; I found him. It was the redhead, still alive, entering a house in the style of the feudal era.

Without wasting a second, I landed in front of the door, opened it, and stepped inside. I looked at the door and simply opened it, discovering there was nothing blocking it. Why was that? Perhaps the redhead was still in shock from what had happened and had forgotten.

I walked down the hallway only to find the young man pointing a sheet of paper at me as if it were a sword.

"Trance on," he said, activating his magical circuits to manipulate the paper.

"Oh," I said, only to swivel my spear and unleash a slash, which was dodged, but it split the room in two. "So you're a mage, then. That means I won't be so lenient with you."

With that, I approached and made a horizontal cut, which was blocked by the paper, destroying it and sending the redhead flying into a wall and a window, leaving him in the yard with his shoulder and head bleeding.

When I reached the courtyard, I saw the young man run into a shed, which made me sigh. I didn't like this situation, but Dante explained to me how magical society works, not to mention the issue of witnesses in these kinds of things.

Knowing he's a wizard, there shouldn't be a problem with me not killing him; surely Dante will understand. Now we'll just see if he's truly a man and deserves to live, or if he's a coward who deserves a just death.

When I peered into the building, the young man was kneeling, breathing rapidly, staring at me. I simply stood at attention and turned my spear upright.

"Take your weapon and face me. Die like a warrior, or would you rather wait for death like a coward?" I said, urging him to fight.

"You're fighting yourself," the redhead said, only to look more frustrated. "Don't mess with me, are you playing games with me? I know perfectly well I can't. I don't have the power to face you or that guy in red, nor do I have the power to become a hero of justice."

At that moment, I saw something glimmer out of the corner of my eye, and I looked in that direction to see a magic circle activating.

"Nobody wants to die, least of all me. I still have something to accomplish, so I won't lower my head, even if I have to fight and let beings like you kill me." The moment she finished speaking, the Command Seals appeared on the back of her hand.

"A master," she said in shock, only to have to move my spear to block an attack from an invisible weapon, leaving me surprised by the power behind it.

I sensed the presence of a Servant inside, but out of sheer caution, I kept my distance, only for the same warrior to launch an attack on me.

Unable to see the length of the weapon, I could only try to block it from as close as I could. The moment our weapons clashed, I felt its immense power, which struck me as odd, since I hadn't suspected the redhead of being a close friend. Therefore, I could only deduce that this Heroic Spirit's origins were of the highest order.

Moving my spear, I aimed his weapon; I was about to fall to the ground to twist my spear and attempt a thrust, but with surprising ease, he dodged the attack. I persisted in the battle.

"I see," I announced, leaping back. "I see you're no ordinary Heroic Spirit."

With that said, I summoned my Echigo armor, dematerializing my spear to summon my ceremonial katana, perfectly complementing my weaponry.

You are no ordinary heroic spirit either; I can see it in your weaponry and your presence. "It's a shame we can't say our names, but with my oath to this sword, I have defeated you," the enemy Servant announced.

With nothing more to wait for, we both charged at each other, our weapons clashing. Seeing her armor, her stance, and the way she held it, I could deduce it was a sword.

Using brute strength, she tried to throw me back, but I managed to deflect my body, attempting a slash from an almost impossible angle to dodge. To my surprise, she blocked my attack with a near-impossible sword movement.

Her reflexes were flawless, and her flexibility astounding; I could see how difficult it would be to defeat this enemy with ordinary tricks.

Leaping back, I charged again.

She was clearly much faster than me, but she had an almost instantaneous reaction time and counterattack, which was frustrating me.

This wasn't working, so I jumped back, creating distance while whistling into the air.

She was about to say something, but from one side of the The wall shattered, revealing a horse with armor and draconic features charging at my enemy with a speed perhaps as swift as my master's.

My mount dragged my enemy across to the other street, and I followed.

The horse, whinnying as it lost sight of its target through the smoke from the walls, turned back toward me, closing in behind me.

Through the smoke, the swordswoman appeared, blood dripping from her head, brushing the dust off. She stared at the horse and then back at me.

"I see, that makes sense. From this, I can assume you're a Rider," she said with a small, satisfied smile. "It was my mistake not to expect you to use my mount in battle."

"And I can assume you're Saber," I said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. At that moment, the redhead arrived, surveying the mess of his bleeding Servant; I could clearly see the worry on his face.

But I didn't care; my enemy was right there, and I had to act. Just as I was about to say something, I sensed something approaching. Instinctively, I mounted my horse, and it charged forward, dodging several arrows.

"I see you're here; that means we can continue our fight, Rider," said the red-clad Servant, now identified as Archer, as he landed on the roof.

Saber looked at Archer, assuming a fighting stance.

My mission was to tie up loose ends, something I completely failed at, not to fight two Servants at the same time.

"Master, a Servant has appeared, defending the target, and now I'm facing him and Archer simultaneously," I explained my situation.

The scene was tense; Archer was aiming at me but ready to strike Saber if necessary, while Saber was slowly approaching the archer, ready to attack.

"Get out of there as soon as possible and finish for today," I heard my master say.

"Understood," I replied.

"Well, my mission failed, and my master asked me to return, so we'll have to resume our fight another time," he announced to everyone.

"Wait," I heard Saber say, but I ignored her; I simply mounted my horse and rode home.

...

Dante's POV

The next day, when I woke up, I realized I was carrying more weight than usual. I glanced to one side and saw Kiss-shot sleeping, clinging to me. And when I looked to the other side, I saw Rider doing the same.

I didn't quite know what to do, so I opted for the first thing that came to mind.

"Get up already; we have a lot to do today," I said, washing my hands to wake them both up, which I did.

"Hmm," Kiss-shot grumbled, looking out the window. "It's still too early." With that, she pulled the blanket completely over her head.

"Boo, I was so comfortable in that position," Rider complained.

Honestly, under normal circumstances, I would have stayed longer surrounded by these two beautiful women, but I was practically working.

"I don't care; we're at war, and we have to prepare; once all this is over, we can relax," I told her, and her eyes lit up.

"Does that mean that when the war is over, you'll accept me as your wife?" she asked, a little anxious.

"Only if you win," I replied.

"Fine, then I don't have to put my heart and soul into this," she declared to the air as if speaking to the gods.

It was a good idea to tell her that, since it motivated her even more than she already was. Even though I'm not participating to win, I can perfectly well go to where Medusa is, use my scythe, and that's it. But that wouldn't completely free her from the throne of heroes; there would still be the gorgon version and Lily.

Anyway, this plan is just a contingency if the wish thing doesn't work.

...

After asking Kiss-shot to check on the familiars, I discovered something that made me realize this war wasn't going to be like any I'd seen before.

Usually, after going to the church, Saber and Archer, or in some cases just Archer, would fight Berserker, but this wasn't the case.

The one who appeared before Saber and Archer was Gilgamesh himself. In his presence, Illya decided not to act and to stay out of it, which led to a confrontation where Shirou Emiya almost died from the King of Heroes' attacks while trying to defend his Servant.

I already knew my presence and the summoning of Uesugi as a Rider would bring changes, but I see they'll be more drastic than I thought.

Kirei is without a Servant, perhaps trying to intervene in this war, and Gilgamesh is acting quite aggressively at the beginning of the story.

I wonder what will happen next.

...

It was already night, so I walked through the streets of Fuyuki looking for any trace of a Servant.

I had two missions in mind that night. The first was to find Medusa; I wanted to check on her and, if possible, speak with her. And the second...

"Master, I sense something," Rider said, materializing beside me.

Hearing her concerns, I used Observation Haki to sense two people nearby.

I turned to see someone I immediately recognized. With that figure, that smile, and that hair, it was impossible not to recognize her. It was her, with a weapon that seemed very familiar.

"Well, what do we have here? This could be fate, giving me the opportunity to see you again and fulfill my wish without needing the Grail," she announced, still looking at me.

"Ah, yes, and what would that be?" I asked curiously.

"I'll give you a good beating for leaving me alone," she said in a voice I recognized as that of a spiteful and angry woman.

I just smiled at this, since for a moment I felt like she was going to do something like that to me; after all, my death and situation had been very upsetting to her. I was there, and in an instant I died, leaving her with a broken and empty heart, which, along with Athena's intervention, caused her to become the Gorgon, condemning her to either die or live the rest of her life as an unrecognizable monster.

At that moment, almost next to Medusa, a young man with blue hair appeared with a book, whom I recognized immediately.

"So you're the one my grandfather warned me about? Let me tell you, you don't look like much," the guy said with a nasty smile, which I completely ignored.

"Come on, my dear Medusa, don't hold a grudge. What do you say? Perhaps we can form an alliance?" I suggested to Medusa.

"Hey, I'm right here," the blue-haired man said, louder and more annoyed.

"That won't be possible, because if we don't ally, it won't be possible to beat you senseless and leave you half-dead. Now, open your arms to me and receive my love," Medusa declared, her eyes gleaming, as she twirled her weapon, ready to fight.

"Hmm," I said thoughtfully. I absolutely cannot let her turn me into pulp, but I'm not capable of lashing out at all, so she leaves me no other choice. "If you want to do that, you'll have to get past her first," I said, pointing at my Servant. "Rider, she's all yours."

"Understood, Master." With that said, Rider launched herself at Medusa, who, judging by her weapon and for obvious reasons, can be considered the Lancer in this war.

At the clash of weapons, the guy in blue was thrown aside.

I watched him for a while; I didn't have much to do while I waited for his fight to end, so I went over to him.

Once I was a safe distance away, I noticed he was watching the fight; only after a few seconds did he look away.

He looked at me somewhat fearfully, taking a step back, but then, in a very strange change of mood, he gave me that same chilling smile. I had a feeling this guy was going to say something I wasn't going to like.

"Heh, like I was saying, I don't know why Grandpa was so afraid of you; from my point of view, you weren't a big deal, and to think that because of you, Grandpa wouldn't let me use Lancer the way I wanted." Hearing those words, I felt something snap in my head. "With that body she has, I would have liked to use a Command Spell to rape her and..."

I didn't let him finish, because with a Soru and a quick slash, the guy's arm flew off.

"Huh?" the idiot said, only to look at his right side, seeing that his entire arm was missing, including the shoulder, and his eyes bloodshot. "AAAAHHH."

His scream could be heard throughout Fuyuki.

With a quick spell, I burned the jerk's arm to prevent him from reattaching it.

"Master, she's coming that way," Rider told me.

"Leave her alone," I replied simply.

The next second, Lancer arrived on the scene, calmly approaching the guy and looking at him as if he were nothing more than an object.

"With all that concern, I gather he's not your master," I said, to which she simply nodded.

"That's right," she said simply.

"Look, I don't know what kind of situation you're in, but if you need help, come find me; you don't need to give me anything in return," I explained.

She just looked at me and nodded.

"I'll keep that in mind," she replied, taking the now unconscious and bleeding idiot and leaving with him.

"Maybe I should have killed him, but I don't know how this whole matpu and command seal thing works; I don't know if it was the best option," I sighed to myself.

"Boo, that's not fair, Master," Rider pouted, arriving at my side. "I haven't been able to have a decent fight since the war started, not with Archer, not with Saber, and not even with that old lover of yours."

"That's true, I don't know where all this bad luck comes from if you're not a Lancer-class," I teased her, which annoyed her a little, but all she could do was cross her arms and pout even more. "Don't worry, I know a place you can go and fight until you're satisfied.

...

After a hike, I arrived at Ryuudou Temple accompanied by Rider.

"Let's go up," I said, and she followed me.

As we climbed the stairs, I glanced at the barrier in the forest, also remembering my second goal for the day: to search and investigate Ryuudou Temple.

"I have to ask you to stop," a voice called out, only for me to see a samurai at the temple entrance, looking down at us. "If you don't, I'll have to use brute force."

"No problem using brute force; that's what she wants," I said, pointing at Rider. "Well, with that said, I'll let you vent your feelings through battle."

But the samurai blocked my path.

"That doesn't matter. My mission is to block access to the temple to uninvited guests," he said, his expression becoming more serious.

I simply used Soru to slip behind him. At that moment, she moved to try and attack me, but using magic and haki, I parried her with the tension of my fingers, throwing the long katana back.

"She's your opponent, not me; have fun," I said, simply moving on.

...

Third-person POV

Assassin watched Dante enter the temple, then glanced at his weapon, and finally fixed his gaze on Rider.

"Well, I have no other choice. I'm going in now, but I can still stop you. Let me introduce myself: I'm Assassin, Sasaki Kojirou. Nice to meet you." With that, he assumed a fighting stance.

"Oh, you told me your real name; my master never forbade me from doing so, so as a courtesy, I'll do the same. I'm Rider, the avatar of Bishamonte, better known as Uesugi Kenshin," Rider said, taking an offensive stance.

Above, Dante was already in the center of the temple, surveying the entire place. All the Buddhists, sages, and monks were asleep. He immediately recognized the use of magic to do that.

"I expected nothing less from Caster, being able to do this, creating a bounded field over another, and from what I can see, you have good genes," Dante said, looking into the air. To him, his genes were very good, since they came from him.

"Giving me all those compliments won't do you any good; besides, I'm already happily engaged," Caster said, flying through the air. "Normally, I should eliminate you immediately for invading my domain, but I'm curious, why did you come here?"

"Isn't it obvious? I came for the Holy Grail," I replied honestly.

"I see, you've come to steal my Holy Grail; I see there's nothing left to discuss." With that, Caster created several magic circles filled with mana.

"I don't recall saying that," Dante sighed as he drew his pistols to defend himself.

And so the night would pass, where a great-grandfather would meet his great-granddaughter for the first time.
