In Homer's epic The Odyssey, it's recorded that the protagonist, Odysseus, encountered the Sirens on his journey home.
Many people confuse Sirens with mermaids, but there's a big difference between the two. Although mermaids also like to sing, their purpose isn't to lure sailors, and they don't harm humans.
