Chapter 23 - Misunderstanding (1)

Cold wind swept through the gate. Inside, a massive pillar of pure stone still stood tall, unmoving. Two ancient words were carved deeply into its surface:

"No More."

Even the wind dared not approach it.

This pillar was a treasure valued beyond measure by the Li Family. No one could move it, nor did anyone dare to come close. Many had tried in the past, yet none succeeded. It was regarded as the pillar that held up the heavens themselves. Even an extreme Nascent Soul cultivator had failed to move it even an inch. It was the very reason the Li Family continued to exist.

Beside the pillar stood a grand mansion with two floors. This was the main hall of the patriarch.

Nearby, a teleportation altar stood silent and unfazed, surrounded by towering walls that reached ten feet high. Above those walls, cultivators stood guard without pause. At the very center, a massive tower pierced the sky.

A middle aged man stood before the altar. He had black hair, a face half ruined, and no left arm, just like Meng Meng. His eyes glowed crimson, and he wore plain white clothes with a sword strapped to his back.

He observed the altar quietly. Then, lifting his single hand, he unlocked the seal behind him. A smile spread across his face as he shouted,

"All of you, kneel. The young lady will arrive soon."

Every guard who heard his voice immediately dropped to their knees. The sound of hundreds of knees striking the ground echoed through the hall.

"Young lady!" the guards roared in unison.

Boom!

The altar lit up as violent spiritual energy surged outward. Even the wind was forced back. The man laughed, his smile so wide it seemed unmeasurable, as if the young lady were his own daughter.

Yet suddenly, his expression changed.

He felt three wills inside the altar.

"Strange. Only Elder Li was supposed to be there. Then whose will is the third?"

His warmth vanished, replaced by rage.

"All guards, be alert. There is an intruder!"

In an instant, the atmosphere shifted. Respect turned into killing intent. The war cries of three hundred guards shook the altar itself.

Far away, inside a pitch black room, a man smiled grimly. He lifted his hand, and with a flick of his finger, a sword appeared. The blade pierced through space and vanished.

In the next moment, it appeared in the hands of the man in white.

He was shocked. Gripping the sword tightly, he roared again.

Two minutes later, the light faded and smoke slowly dispersed. Three figures emerged from the altar. Hundreds of men surrounded them.

Toward two of them, there was respect.

Toward the third, there was killing intent.

As the smoke cleared, their identities became clear.

Meng Meng.

Lady Li.

Elder Li.

Lady Li was about to speak when a sharp sound tore through the air.

This was not wind.

This was the sword.

It flew straight toward Meng Meng, who had just awakened from deep slumber. He was now at the extreme stage of the Foundation Realm, with three stars revolving around his soul orb. He was untamed and unmoved.

His face remained neutral.

In the next second, his eyes narrowed. His head snapped aside at the last moment, narrowly avoiding the blade. Though calm on the outside, his heart raced.

He followed the sword's trajectory back to its source. His expression did not change.

Then the luminous core within him rotated once.

With that single rotation, spiritual energy flooded his entire body. His lips curled into a smile, and his eyes turned red. Within them hid monstrous killing intent.

Mad Meng had awakened.

He moved forward, bit his tongue, and smiled wider.

"Hahaha!"

His laughter echoed as he shouted with all his strength,

"Here I come!"

Lady Li stood frozen in shock.

But Elder Li was even more shaken.

Six days ago, this boy had only been at the mid stage of the Foundation Realm.

If it had been a single star breakthrough, he could have accepted it.

But this was an entire realm jump.

Meng's right hand moved.Within the range of his fist stood ten guards.Terror exploded in their eyes. The fist landed.

BOOM!

Their bodies shattered in a single impact. Bones collapsed, organs ruptured, blood sprayed violently across the air—splattering over Meng's face. His eyes burned red, his madness deepening as suffocating killing intent erupted from his body.

No one dared move.

Even the man in white froze.

Cold sweat ran down his brow as he shouted,

"Elder Ti! This man is a monster! What should we do?!"

For a moment, Elder Ti remained silent. Then he smiled and raised a hand, signaling calm.

"Save the young lady first."

Even as he spoke, fear crept into his heart—because Meng was staring directly at him.

Meng smiled.

Raising one finger, he said softly,

"I'll take your other hand next."

Elder Ti's expression darkened.

Mocked by someone an entire realm below him, his dignity as a Golden Core cultivator was challenged.

"You dare?" he laughed coldly.

Before they could act, the lady stepped between them.

Elder Ti froze.

At that moment—

WHOOSH!

The sword struck again.

Meng dodged. That single motion ignited the battlefield.Spiritual energy erupted violently as Meng swept his finger through the air—

SLASH!

A crescent of killing intent tore through the guards.

Screams echoed.

Begging followed.

Then silence.

Hundreds fell in an instant.

The lady stared in shock, her hands trembling as she screamed,

"I saved you! Why are you doing this?!"

Meng didn't answer.

He didn't even look at her.His gaze locked onto Elder Ti.

Elder Ti roared and unsheathed his sword. Energy flooded his arm as he slashed three times.

"Three Sword Clouds!"

The slashes vanished mid-air.

Meng laughed loudly—until

SHHK!

Pain exploded across his chest.Blood poured as a deep cut split his flesh.Only then did he realize. The attack had never disappeared. It had already arrived. His laughter grew wilder.Dodging the second strike with sharp instincts, he barely escaped the third using instant movement.

Suddenly—

BAM!

Meng was kicked violently backward.

He crashed into the wall, cracking stone and collapsing debris.

Through blurred vision, he saw the attacker.

Elder Li.

While was processing everything all the reaming guards jumped at him with sword at there hand killing intend filling up there entire mind with one motive.

"kill Meng!"
