Chapter 28 - C26-You owe me a favour

~Liá's Flashback~

"The police closed the case. She was the prime suspect."

Those words hit me like a drumbeat in the silence. Loud. Final. Crippling.

I stood there frozen, unable to process it.

What should I do...?

That question echoed in my head, looping endlessly. But the answer didn't come—not then, not easily.

Eventually, I was forced to accept the unbearable truth:

My mom killed my Nana.

Days passed like fog. Emotionless. Weightless.

Erene Holme took me in as a foster parent. She tried to care for me… but I didn't have the strength to go back to being "normal."

Not anymore.

That's when I started noticing the changes.

I was stronger. Faster. My senses sharper than before.

It was undeniable—I was becoming more and more like my mom. And that wasn't the only thing.

That's when the dreams began.

Except, they weren't just dreams.

They were... memories.

Vivid. Real. Like living someone else's life while I slept.

But unlike normal dreams, I didn't forget them when I woke up.

No. They stayed with me—each night adding more and more—until, by the time I was seven...

I remembered everything.

In my past life, my name was Christen Heart—just a regular girl who died of cancer at 19.

A girl who died filled with regrets.

At first, it was disorienting. The memories, the emotions, the clash of two identities in one body. I didn't know who I was anymore.

Was I Liá Moreno?

Or was I Christen Heart?

But as time passed, as I accepted both pieces of myself, I made a choice.

I am Liá Moreno.

And this life... I won't live with regret.

I'll find my mother.

And I'll make her tell me why she did it—why she killed Nana.

But that wasn't even the biggest shock.

Because now I know where I am.

This isn't just some second life.

I'm in the Marvel Universe.

And I know barely anything about it.

Ughh... I should've listened to Erik...

(Liá POV)

~Present~

"Though I was serious about the responsibility," I said, keeping my expression as stern as I could manage.

There's no way I'm letting a future powerhouse just walk away from me.

Call me manipulative if you want—but he's a walking golden ticket.

Not just because of how eerily similar he is to Erik…

…and definitely not because of how absurdly cute he can be.

"Eh?" he let out, confused.

"I was just joking," I chuckled, brushing it off with a wave. Gotta take this slow.

"Oh… okay," he replied, still a bit unsure.

"But," I added smoothly, "I will need your help with something."

"Huh? I thought you just said—"

"Dude, I gave you my first kiss," I interrupted, giving him a dramatic look as I tried to guilt-trip him.

He flinched slightly, eyes darting away as if my gaze burned through him.

I didn't let up. I leaned in, closing the space between us.

That's when I realized—I was too close.

Far too close.

I could feel his breath against my skin, soft and warm.

My heart skipped—no, stumbled.

And then he looked up.

And in that moment, I got caught in his gaze.

His eyes shimmered like an ocean under moonlight.

Not just beautiful—dangerous.

Like if I stared too long, I'd drown and never want to come back.

"Ahem—I mean," I cleared my throat, pulling myself back together, "I think you owe me a favor."

Fuuhh… That pair of eyes should come with a damn warning.

"Okay," he said after a pause, his voice quiet. "Though… that was my first kiss too."

The last part came out barely audible.

But I heard it.

Enhanced hearing has its perks.

"Did you say something?" I asked him.

"No", He replied.
