"Brother Johnson,..." Eva Miller spoke, her voice trembling a bit, unsure why she was nervous.
"It's so late, why are you still wandering outside?"
Oliver Johnson knew Eva was following Sophie Smith out, but he didn't expose her.
"Oh, just passing by."
Both were just playing dumb.
"Well, Miss Miller, if you don't have anything else, I'll be leaving now."
Eva couldn't understand why Oliver always had this indifferent attitude toward her, especially when she had seen him smile at Sophie. Did he really dislike her that much?
"Brother Johnson, what exactly did I do wrong for you to act so dismissively toward me?" Eva's voice unintentionally grew louder, "Can't you see my genuine feelings for you?"
Genuine feelings?
Oliver's lips curled into a self-deprecating smile, "Miss Miller, put away those genuine feelings. I'm not worthy."
Eva clasped her hands behind her back, gripping harder, her nails digging into her flesh, yet she felt no pain.
