Their days gradually settled into a kind of sweet calm; even their arguments had lessened a lot. Only occasionally would Sophie still act a little spoiled in front of Asher Land.
On Tuesday afternoon, the weather was lovely. Sophie's plan had originally been to drive Alexander out for a small spring outing. But while she was still packing up, Asher called.
"If you've got something to say, hurry up and say it. I'm busy and don't have time." Sophie turned on speaker, tossed the phone to the side, then went into the kitchen to hunt for food suitable to take on a spring outing. Alexander sat obediently at the dining table beside her, his little face full of anticipation.
"Busy? Busy with what?" Asher lounged lazily back in his leather office chair, eyes closed, head tipped up slightly.
