"I love you," Louis Cox said in a low tone.
Mia Ginger still held the phone, pursing her lips without a sound.
Louis smiled, "I've always loved you, and I always will, forever unchanged. No matter if there's another woman in my life or whether I get married, girl, you are irreplaceable in my heart, the only one."
"I'm not worthy," Mia said softly.
"You are worthy." Louis sighed, turned the conversation, and said, "For now, as Maeve has left, you can take it easy and get some rest."
"Okay." Mia hung up the phone.
She put away the phone, staring blankly at a nearby pink and white blossom tree.
Soon the wind picked up, making the petals fall.
As she watched, she recalled the days in Eastern Peak Village.
They had known each other for ten years, with Louis appearing in every corner of her life, tangled within past troubles that had a trace of warmth.
She had never been moved, keeping him at a distance.
