At one in the morning, Connor arrived at the secret base.
Major Lucas Chambers personally came to pick him up. As soon as he got out of the car, he was tightly hugged in a bear embrace: "Connor!"
Connor laughed, revealing his neat white teeth: "Hello, Major Chambers!"
Lucas let him go: "You should call me Brother Chambers, it sounds more pleasant."
"Brother Chambers, your military rank has risen quite quickly, did your dad pull some strings for you?"
"Nonsense, I earned this purely on my own merit!"
Lucas suddenly punched him, but Connor easily parried it.
"Good kid, your reactions are getting faster! Tell me, how's the old man doing?"
"He's doing well, Young Master Hunter says he could easily live to be a hundred!"
"Haha, that's good! Last year I heard from my dad that the old man was hospitalized and didn't expect him to recover so well!"
Connor smiled warmly, without explaining that the old man was faking illness to force Harry Hunter into marriage.
