Zoe Lewis couldn't stand talking at such a close distance, so she reached out to push David, but she couldn't move him at all.
"I was just chatting casually with David, asking about some interesting little things. How is that flirting? David belongs to Grace Watt, I can't possibly flirt with him."
"I didn't see that David belonged to Grace Watt. You seemed so happy chatting with David, and Grace looked quite happy too, not at all jealous."
"Because David and I weren't talking about anything inappropriate. We're all friends, Grace wouldn't get jealous over something so trivial."
In truth, David wasn't concerned whether Grace was jealous; he just thought it was nice that Zoe was talking to him.
He gently touched her forehead with the fingers he'd tapped earlier in the day, and softly asked, "Does it hurt?"
Zoe was frozen there, motionless.
His fingers were slightly cool, but when they touched her forehead, her skin, her face suddenly felt warm.
