Chapter 131 - Welcome to Flex City

This scene works best if the wonder feels genuine while keeping the underlying tension alive. The recruits shouldn't just see a city—they should see a philosophy made physical.

The world folded.

Not violently.

Not like teleportation through compressed space or fractured dimensions.

It felt like stepping through understanding itself.

One moment, the recruits stood within the Traxian Auditorium.

The next—

They stood atop it.

Gasps erupted instantly.

The entire assembly froze.

Before them stretched a city unlike anything they had ever imagined.

Flex City.

The Deviant Sanctuary.

Its skyline shimmered beneath a sapphire sky that never seemed to end. Towers of impossible architecture spiraled upward in elegant defiance of gravity, their surfaces illuminated by flowing neon currents of deep blue, crimson, and radiant white.

The lights didn't simply decorate the buildings.

They moved.

Pulsing gently like living veins.

Like the city itself was breathing.

Far above, glowing figures streaked across the heavens.

At first, the recruits mistook them for stars.

Then one laughed.

Another spun through the air.

A group of children raced each other between floating walkways.

They weren't stars.

They were people.

Flying freely through the sky using Devian Nova.

No routes.

No traffic.

No restrictions.

Only motion.

Only possibility.

The absolute awe that rippled through the recruits couldn't be contained.

Sandra covered her mouth with both hands, tears immediately welling in her eyes.

Timmy forgot to blink.

Fred slowly lowered his guard.

Even Adrian's usual skepticism cracked beneath pure disbelief.

And the Nicronian elders—

Despite their best efforts to maintain composed expressions—

Couldn't hide the wonder in their eyes.

Omega Devia stepped forward.

The yellow-green glow around its form reflected against the sapphire sky.

It spread its arms wide.

Its voice carried effortlessly across the city.

"Ladies and gentlemen."

A warm smile touched its face.

"Welcome to Flex City."

Its gaze swept across the endless horizon.

"The Deviant Sanctuary."

Sandra wiped tears from her cheeks, laughing softly at herself.

"It's beautiful."

Below them, life unfolded in countless unconventional ways.

People phased casually through buildings instead of using doors.

Groups of friends stood atop glowing hoverboards that glided through the air like drifting thoughts.

Street vendors sold impossible creations beneath floating lanterns.

Musicians performed atop shifting platforms that adjusted themselves to match the rhythm of their songs.

Families gathered on suspended gardens anchored to nothing but trust.

Adults went about their daily lives in ways that felt chaotic to outsiders.

Yet somehow—

Everything worked.

Everything flowed.

No one seemed rushed.

No one seemed afraid.

No one seemed trapped.

Sandra pointed downward excitedly.

"Look!"

Several armored figures moved through the streets below.

Their uniforms varied wildly in design, yet each carried the same yellow-green signature glow.

Some walked.

Others flew.

One surfed across a stream of light.

Another phased through a wall to help someone carrying oversized containers.

Omega Devia followed her gaze.

"Those are members of the Deviant Alliance."

Its tone held quiet pride.

"They patrol the city."

Timmy blinked.

"To stop crime?"

Omega Devia tilted its head thoughtfully.

"Sometimes."

It smiled.

"But mostly, they help people remain at peace with themselves."

The answer lingered.

One of the Nicronian elders finally spoke.

His voice was quieter than usual.

Almost uncertain.

"This place feels so..."

He searched for the right word.

His gaze drifted across the skyline.

"...open."

Another elder nodded.

"Chaotic."

A third finished the thought.

"But free."

Omega Devia smiled wider.

"Exactly the point."

It looked toward the distant horizon.

"Traxis envisioned a place where people from across the cosmos could exist without constantly proving themselves."

Its voice softened.

"They chose to be here."

"Not because they were compelled."

"Not because they were conquered."

"But because they were tired."

Tired of expectations.

Tired of pretending.

Tired of fighting themselves.

Tired of carrying identities that no longer fit.

Timmy exhaled slowly.

"You know..."

A small smile crossed his face.

"Maybe this place isn't that scary after all."

Beside him, Adrian kept his arms crossed.

Yet his posture had softened.

He glanced toward Jason.

A faint smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.

"Jason."

Jason looked over.

"Yeah?"

Adrian shook his head.

"You really outdid yourself."

Jason's confident grin faltered for a moment.

Replaced by something genuine.

"Thanks."

Sandra raised her hand enthusiastically.

"Omega, sir?"

Omega Devia turned.

"Yes, Sandra?"

Her eyes sparkled with excitement.

"How good is shopping here?"

A mischievous smirk spread across Omega Devia's face.

"Have you ever visited a mall that tailors itself to your desires?"

Sandra immediately shook her head.

"Nope."

Her grin widened.

"Oh, this is gonna be fun."

Laughter rippled through the group.

Even the elders smiled.

Omega Devia chuckled.

"This city contains far more than you've seen today."

Its expression grew thoughtful.

"This..."

It gestured toward the endless skyline.

"...is only the surface."

The excitement slowly settled.

Then Omega Devia's tone shifted.

Not enough to create fear.

Just enough to command attention.

"But your inner realms remain fragile."

The recruits listened carefully.

"Your minds can become your greatest strength."

Its gaze moved across the crowd.

"And your greatest weakness."

The city lights below suddenly seemed different.

Not less beautiful.

More meaningful.

"Even here, unresolved fears can manifest."

"Doubts can create monsters."

"Pain can distort perception."

"Resentment can reshape reality."

Several recruits instinctively stiffened.

Fred raised an eyebrow.

"So that's why we need to synchronize with you?"

Omega Devia nodded.

"Exactly."

"If we sync deeply enough, those things lose their power over you."

Timmy frowned slightly.

"Because we'll stop doubting?"

"Because you'll understand your doubts."

Omega Devia corrected gently.

The distinction mattered.

A Nicronian elder lowered his head.

Realization washed over his features.

"So even though we've arrived..."

He looked at the city.

"...we still brought ourselves with us."

Omega Devia snapped its fingers.

"Bingo."

Silence followed.

Not uncomfortable silence.

Reflective silence.

The recruits stared out at Flex City once more.

Only now, they saw something deeper.

This wasn't paradise.

It wasn't an escape.

It wasn't a reward.

It was a promise.

A place where broken people could continue existing without first becoming whole.

A city built not on perfection—

But permission.

And for many of them...

That felt even more impossible than flying.
