[3rd POV]
Wanda found that Loki was absolutely messing with her, which normally would have annoyed her, but instead, she just found it kind of boring. That Loki was purposely pushing off them talking some more, for some reason.
Wanda suspected it was a prank of some sort. She just didn't really find it that funny.
She'd have to get the woman back for it later.
She already had an idea how.
But thankfully, while it had taken a while for the trio to finish whatever the hell they were doing, they had soon finished. They had come back with around 50 or so books, almost entirely on offensive magics, but there was a handful of defensive magic books sprinkled in, and some nature books.
She noticed that Riveria had also grabbed some books on elves from other universes. Which Wanda was not actually that surprised about, as she would also be interested about other versions of her species, had she been in Riveria's situation.
Riveria was basically royalty to the elves, so it wasn't that surpising that she was that curious.
Wanda had a feeling that Riveria was not going to be pleased once she hears about the house elves and the way they are treated. But hopefully she understands that it's kind of the entire purpose of House Elves.
They are quite literally born for serving, it's their entire being, their entire makeup.
It is them.
Their very magic is built for it, and if they are not bound to someone, not working or someone and serving someone, they would start to slowly die. And it was not a slow painless death, but a painful, agonizing, ruthless one.
They'd be able to feel their death approaching, they'd know that they were dying but would have no way of fixing it without bonding to someone.
Not only that, but their very soul would be harmed thanks to it, as they are conceptually reliant on magic, as magic creatures. And as such, without magic, they are basically erasing themselves from existence.
Not exactly a a good way to die.
It was for this reason that house elves refused to get set free, or tried their best to avoid it. Because that would mean that they would have to search for a new master, and would potentially take years to accomplish.
They only liked to be set free and offered clothes, if they were in a truly terrible and horrific situation and had some true monsters as their master. Such as Dobby and the Malfoy's, in which she was no doubt abused daily by Lucius and Draco. Wanda had no idea if Narcissa would take part, but she wouldn't be too surprised if she did.
Probably because of the fact that Narcissa, despite eventually betraying Voldemort and protecting her son, is not a good person. She was not nearly as bad as Bellatrix, but she was still a racist piece of shit. She was simply a racist piece of shit that was acting like she was solely doing it for her son.
She was good at hiding how much she disliked them. But Wanda knew that Narcissa was not a good person.
Either way, Riveria was going to be very displeased upon hearing about the house elves. But again, that wouldn't matter. As slavery was still very much a thing in Danmachi, so Wanda didn't see how this would be any different. If anything Riveria was far less likely to care.
As Elves were sold into slavery all the time, and there was quite literally an entire district in Orario dedicated to what amounted to sex slavery. And Wanda knew that members of Loki's familia entered the area all the time.
She imagined that Loki would be pissed if she heard that. As despite her not caring much about it, she knew that the "Good and just" Loki familia entering an establishment which utilized what was basically sex slaves, was a very very bad look.
As while slavery and sex slavery was not technically illegal or anything, it was not looked upon kindly by a lot of the familia's in Orario. With even the Freya familia not being fond of it. But Freya was good at hiding it.
Wanda knew that the Ishtar familia, the main one behind the sex slaves, was going to die. She knew enough about Freya and what she felt about Bell Crandall, that Ishtar was going to cause problems for him, problems that Freya did not like.
Not all of the members were going to die, of course. But the most problematic of them, was probably not going to survive. That is not even counting all the members that were forcefully pushed into the familia. As Ishtar was going to die by Freya's hands, at least, most likely.
And once a God dies, all their familia members lose their falna and basically become regular mortals once again. So, killing a God was HUGELY important. The death of a God was not normal. And a mortal killing one could cause some seriously huge issues.
There was not really any actual proof of what would happen, as mortals had never killed a God before. But it was very likely that they would receive some sort of skill, perk, or something of the sort, and that would be a giant problem.
If someone got an ability based around killing Gods, then they would likely not survive the week. The Gods would send every member of their familia to hunt them down and kill.
Because a mortal has the ability to kill a God and get stronger?
They were a cheat code, and would be the most dangerous force in all of Orario. As they would likely start to hunt gods themselves and kill them for power. This would cause a slaughter, and weaken all of the familia members, therefore making the dungeon even more dangerous, and harder and harder to explore in the future.
Wanda was interested in seeing either way, as Riveria, Finn and Loki walked back to the counter, books in hand.
"Is that everything, or is there anything else you need?" Wanda asked, it made the trio pause before Loki grinned.
"I'd love some of that wine-" "Hmm too bad, I happened to remember you deciding to prank me a bit ago, so I'm getting you back for it. Don't complain since you asked for it"
Finn and Riveria both gave her grateful looks, as neither had a clue how things would go if she was not there to deal with the next few hours. And a wine that tasted like the universe meant that it couldn't be topped.
"Wait but-" "Nope, too bad. You can get some next time we meet up, but nothing more than that. The wine is hard to make, expensive, and literally the best alcohol you can ever have" Wanda cut her off again, as Loki gave her a huge pout and an angry look, a fake one though.
"Fine fine, just ring up the prices for me then"
"Alright. It looks like it's cheaper than a bottle of that wine, but you aren't getting it for a few weeks or so. For reasons previously stated". Wand replied with a shake of her head, amusement flickering in her eyes at Lokis expression.
"Is there anything else you need, or are you all done now?" Wanda asked, as they all looked at each other before shaking her head.
"Yeah we're done, Miss Maximoff. We have everything we have come here for, and now it is time to get out of here before my Goddess gets any funny ideas" Riveria said with a smile on her face, and paid Wanda with a bag full of the currency of their world, before moving and beginning to drag Loki off.
But not without thanking her once more, and leaving the shop, and Wanda alone.
"...They really wanted out of here" Wanda muttered, realizing that they did that because Loki would have tried something stupid...most likely.
With that, Wanda was alone once more, and as she stood there, she had only one thought on her mind.
'Of course now they're quick about it!'
