Chapter 53: Aisha-style Mediation
Aisha did not like using force—at least, in a certain sense, that statement held true, as evidenced by the nature of her Authorities. A Campione's Authority is the truest reflection of their personality.
But an Authority is an Authority. Even if it appears "un-serious" on the surface, its essence remains a terrifying existence that reigns supreme over all living beings and natural objects on this planet.
"Goddess who rules the Heavens, the Earth, and the Darkness, O Queen of Snakes! Reveal the form of the terrifying Witch!"
Chanting her words of power toward the sky and earth that had already been battered beyond recognition, the Campione Aisha became the fifth person to join the fray.
Because of the battle between Hikigaya and the King of the End, the ground—previously scorched by searing light and fire—began to emit a creeping chill. Before long, everyone could feel its presence. Colorless and formless Divine Power drove this absolute cold, manifesting giant frost serpents around the combatants. Like pythons constricting their prey, they coiled tightly around the fighters' bodies.
In fact, Uldin and Artio were similarly attacked by these frost snakes. In an instant, everyone was locked down. The freezing air emanating from the frost serpents, capable of turning the earth into a frozen wasteland, invaded the bodies of those ensnared, forming a divine curse-binding.
Or rather, this wasn't the original purpose of the Authority—its true goal should have been to encase enemies in ice until they died.
"Honestly, everyone, stop fighting!" Aisha looked at them with puffed-out cheeks, yet still offered a persuasion: "As long as you're willing to shake hands and make up, I'll help you undo the binding!"
Unlike the actual victims, she had always felt that this Authority of hers was meant for mediating fights. Actually, thinking this way wasn't entirely wrong; if a frozen target were truly willing to listen to her advice, and she released the effect early, one could arguably classify this as a "mediation technique."
Unfortunately, characters worthy of her using an Authority on were unlikely to listen to reason in such a state. Thus, her mediation technique had never actually succeeded...
Just like now. After Aisha offered what she considered a very constructive suggestion, none of the people (or gods) bothered to waste words on her. They immediately exerted their power to break free from the binding.
Incredible heat radiated from Hikigaya's body. Not only that, he channeled the fire clouds in the sky. Amidst a terrifying sound, the orange-red heavens rained down fire, converging in mid-
air into a massive fire dragon that crashed down upon Hikigaya, dispelling the cold. The frost serpents began to melt within the raging flames.
The King of the End's divine sword erupted with violent thunder, and his body glowed with white-gold light, causing cracks to rapidly spread across his frost serpents. The masked warrior summoned a howling gale, while sword-light continuously burst out from the frost snakes coiling around Doni, riddling them with holes in the blink of an eye.
To be fair, this was indeed a terrifying Authority. However, since Aisha's intent was not to kill, the power of this Authority became a "slow-burn" product, giving her opponents ample time to react.
Aisha was well aware of this. Seeing that everyone was quickly breaking free, she familiarly moved to the "Stage Two Trap" she had developed long ago in London when trying to persuade two childish Campiones. Although she hadn't seen the final outcome back then, seeing as the "brother" and "sister" were both still alive and well today, she felt she must have successfully stopped their fight.
Therefore, she was super confident in her next move.
"O Divine Daughter of the beautiful silken hair—open the palace of the Maternal Earth!"
The earth began to tremble.
Almost at the exact moment the Campiones and gods broke free from the frost binding, the earth split open like a piece of silk being torn apart. The massive fissure seemed to have no beginning and no end; it was wider than any river in the world, more than enough to swallow everyone present. Most importantly, the crack was not only staggeringly deep but also possessed a powerful gravitational pull—like a passage leading to the subterranean Underworld.
The first deity Aisha had slain was the Goddess Persephone. She was a gentle Goddess of Spring, but also the wife of Hades and the cruel Queen of the Underworld. The Council of Sages named this Authority "Underworld Descent," considering it Madame Aisha's trump card. In a sense, this evaluation was not an exaggeration at all.
Because Aisha once again unleashed the frost snake binding on everyone. Doing so was also a result of the experience she had accumulated in London.
As a result, the Campiones and gods—who had originally thought to resist the suction and fly away—were completely dumbfounded. At this point, what pulled at them was not just the suction from the abyss; the atmosphere on the surface was also being sucked in, creating a powerful gale blowing into the depths of the earth.
Aisha's "Triple Strike" caught every single God-slayer and deity in one fell swoop with nearly perfect execution.
Having sent everyone into the abyss, Aisha breathed a sigh of relief. Then, she realized something.
"Oh dear... why did I send Chief Uldin and the Goddess in there too?"
Regrettably, there was no one left here to answer her. Aisha stood there all alone... on the verge of tears.
