Ning Wanxi remembered that embarrassing birthday gift and felt uneasy. She was perceptive and clever, and knew exactly what her parents were thinking. She glared hatefully at Luo Chao — it was all your fault!
Luo Chao smiled innocently, feeling unfairly blamed but unable to say anything in his defense.
"Mom, where's Doudou, has she gone to sleep?" Ning Wanxi's expression returned to normal as she asked casually.
Huang Lili nodded, "Yes, your Aunt Zhou took her to sleep. She should be asleep by now."
Ning Zongze said, "Your mom thought you were working overtime and forgot your birthday, so she prepared a lavish dinner for you. It seems like you must have just eaten when you came back, but the birthday cake still needs to be eaten."
Luo Chao and Ning Wanxi looked over and indeed saw a table of delicious dishes waiting for them in the dining room to heat up and enjoy.
"You could've called me, then I would've eaten less and come home earlier," Ning Wanxi said helplessly.
