A dull ache spread across his body. Ewen felt as if he had been disassembled by someone, only to be pieced back together. It was an awful sensation.
Asmodeus shouted back, "Then how will you fulfill your desire?"
She could sense it, that intense desire hidden deep within Ewen's heart, tightly restrained by his rationality and so-called nobility. What Asmodeus had to do was break Ewen—it was inevitable that he, like everyone else, would eventually succumb.
Ewen staggered to the game table, bloodied palms gripping his own card.
"I told you... but you just didn't pay attention."
Ewen mumbled to himself, "I will draw that Wish Card; it will fulfill all my desires."
A burning pain ignited at his fingertips, and Ewen began laughing to himself. Beside him, Palmer and Aimou stared intently at the card, their faces filled with disbelief.
"Damn it..."
Palmer thought his luck was good enough, but clearly, compared to Ewen, he was far short, as if fate favored him.
