Lann asked with a frown.
"No one saw it, who can know?" Taler said with hands on his hips.
His pity for the young courier ended there, as death wasn't so new, and he was accustomed to harsh and dirty intelligence matters.
"Perhaps it was highwaymen or bandits who tried to stop him but failed, and shot an arrow at his back as he left."
"Or maybe it was the Squirrel Faction hiding in the woods by the roadside, targeting human passersby. It's possible, the arrow doesn't have any identifiable features."
Lann was silent for a moment, shaking his head.
"Indeed a shame... the world is truly chaotic."
"Who can disagree?" Taler echoed, "After the war, we should have recovered, but things have been tangled up for two years, and who knows when it'll be sorted out. Now it seems trouble is brewing again in the Ponta River Valley."
